King of the Wilderness

Chapter 499: Chapter 274: Massive Gains After Exiting the Stage (Part 3)

Lin Yu’an quietly looked at that final number for a long time, before exhaling deeply, leaning back against the chair to completely relax his tense nerves.

Aliya stared blankly at the screen, counting the string of ”0s” repeatedly, feeling like her brain had completely crashed.

Emily leaned down, gently kissed his forehead, then turned her gaze towards the screen that had created a miracle and softly read out:

”Initial principal: $12,999,982.50 USD.”

”Final total sale amount: $303,332,925 USD.”

”Based on algorithmic trading within the $480-550 range, with an average selling price of about $525.”

”Gross profit: $290 million USD...”

”Oh my God...” Aliya finally found her voice, murmuring, ”Have we... become billionaires?”

”Not so fast, dear.” Lin Yu’an, who had been silent, finally spoke up. He pointed to the numbers on the screen with a hint of a smile, ”Don’t forget, Uncle Sam hasn’t collected the taxes yet.”

Emily quickly caught on, frowning and showcasing her calm intelligence: ”Yes, this profit is considered short-term capital gains because our holding period is far less than a year.”

”According to the federal tax law, it will be treated as ordinary income, subject to the highest tier of personal income tax.”

She quickly calculated in her head: ”At the current highest federal tax rate of 37%, plus state taxes... we might need to pay more than $100 million in taxes!”

$100 million! That figure made Aliya, who had just been indulging in joy, gasp again.

Lin Yu’an looked at Emily with an approving gaze, ”So, that’s why we initially chose to trade using an offshore trust account registered in the British Virgin Islands.”

Emily immediately understood the key, ”That’s a world-renowned tax haven! For overseas income of non-residents, the capital gains tax is... zero!”

”Exactly right.” Lin Yu’an snapped his fingers, ”Of course, in the future when we need to legitimately transfer this money back into the United States for use, there will still be some tax issues involved.”

”But this gives us tremendous room for maneuver. We can establish a family foundation, engage in long-term value investments, or use various tax credit policies to keep the final tax rate at a very low, even negligible level.”

”So...” Aliya was confused, concerned only with the final result, ”After all possible fees and taxes, how much can we actually get?”

Lin Yu’an looked at her, slowly raised two fingers, and then showed an eight gesture.

”$280 million USD.” He gave a figure, breathtaking even after deducting all miscellaneous expenses, ”A clean, freely disposable... $280 million.”

$280 million USD!

This figure was no longer the gross profit bearing a giant tax burden. It was a tangible, net asset capable of buying farms, aircraft, and realizing all dreams!

It equaled a private fleet comprised of four to five top-notch Gulfstream G650s, or buying several penthouse floors of legendary buildings on Central Park West Avenue in Manhattan, or... enough to buy dozens of towns like Wiseman, where they currently lived, off the map.

Aliya completely gave up thinking and threw herself into Lin Yu’an’s arms, happy as a child.

At that moment, the opal-like glimmer outside the window seemed to have gathered enough strength and finally broke free from the horizon’s constraints.

A ray of pale golden sunlight pierced through the clouds, crossed the boundless snowfields and coniferous forests, and for the first time, shone into this study, long shrouded in darkness, casting a warm and bright spot of light on the three embracing figures.

The polar night had ended.

”Look...” Aliya pointed excitedly outside the window, her voice filled with a trace of excitement, ”The sun... the sun is back.”

Lin Yu’an slowly stood up, not letting go of his two lovers in his arms, but holding them tightly, they walked together to the huge floor-to-ceiling window.

He opened the heavy window.

A gust of cold air mixed with the scent of snow and pine rushed in, invigorating everyone’s spirits.

”It’s so beautiful...” Aliya leaned on Lin Yu’an’s shoulder.

”Yes,” Emily also softly sighed, resting her cheek on the other side of Lin Yu’an’s chest, clearly hearing his steady, strong heartbeat.

At this moment, the cold and massive number on the screen seemed to no longer matter.

The $280 million wealth, compared to this real sunlight and the warmth and heartbeat of a lover in his arms, seemed to lose its weight.

Wealth is meant to protect this beauty, not the beauty itself.

”I love you.” Lin Yu’an lowered his head, planting a deep kiss on each of their foreheads.

”We love you too.” The two responded in unison, then exchanged a smile, overflowing with happiness.

Lin Yu’an held them, watching the magnificent sunrise in the distance, his heart filled with unprecedented stability and infinite hope for the future.
