King of the Wilderness

Chapter 482: Chapter 269: Lin Yu’an’s New Value

”What it means is that GME was shorted by 170%. This isn’t a viewpoint, an emotion; it’s an objective existence, a mathematical BUG that could trigger an avalanche at any time,” Lin Yu’an’s voice was calm and cold.

”This isn’t gambling, Brian. It’s an elementary school math problem. It’s just that the number is so large that you smart people can’t believe it.”

”Therefore, the premise of CAA’s reputation being damaged simply doesn’t exist, because I won’t lose.”

This extreme arrogance made Brian feel a bit absurd. He sneered, ”Lin, there are countless ways on Wall Street to make a math problem that should equal two, end up equaling zero. You’re too young.”

This sentence carried a tone of condescension and reprimand from an elder to a younger.

However, Lin Yu’an’s reply was completely unexpected.

”Brian, you’re right,” Lin Yu’an surprisingly admitted calmly, ”Disconnecting networks, spreading fake news, exploiting loopholes in the rules... I know all of these. I even know on which day, at what time, and in what way they will do these things.”

His words exploded like thunder in Brian’s mind.

”So, I know how to find the safest, most precise course through this chaos, and then leave with my profit before they flip the table.”

These remarks completely put Brian in the position of an outsider. All his previous superiority about control and resources was shattered by Lin Yu’an.

Brian fell silent. He keenly sensed enormous risks and enormous power lurking behind this young man that he could not control!

”Then...” Brian’s voice was somewhat hoarse, ”Why did you make this call?”

”Because of the transaction,” Lin Yu’an finally revealed his purpose, his tone relaxed, as if the confrontation just now had never happened.

”I just feel that this feast is too sumptuous. Eating it alone would be a waste. So, I decided to sell some tickets.”

”CAA can buy one. The price is a jungle plane,” Lin Yu’an’s tone became sharp, ”It’s not a gift, Brian. It’s just the purchase fee for my information.”

This conversation completely changed the nature of the entire dialogue.

Brian fell into a long silence, beginning to reassess this young man in front of him. He was no longer a somewhat clever ”asset” but an ”ambitious person” with independent will.

”You have a big appetite, Lin,” Brian said slowly.

”Because the cake is big enough,” Lin Yu’an was relentless, ”I can eat a part of it alone, but with CAA’s addition, we can take the biggest piece of the cake.”

”I can provide precise timing down to the day for an exit to maximize our profit. In return, apart from the profit, CAA will also gain me, who is proven to have special channels.”

He paused, giving the final ultimatum: ”Brian, this isn’t a multiple-choice question. This is CAA’s only opportunity to gain my trust at the cost of an airplane. After all, our contract’s penalty is also capped.”

”Miss this chance, and in the future, only that cold contract will be left between us.”

”January 26 is the last day to exit,” Lin Yu’an added, ”The plane, I hope, is a taildragger, the bigger the tundra tires, the better. Look forward to seeing it in Wiseman.”

With that, he actively hung up the phone, throwing a problem laced with great temptation and arrogant challenge at this head of the Hollywood Empire.

The last call, Lin Yu’an made to Matty.

The moment the phone connected, Matty’s signature, aggressive voice came through, ”Lin! It better be something good enough to drag me away from three beauties!”

Lin Yu’an ignored his lewd comments and succinctly recapped the plan.

Before he finished, Matty was practically roaring into the phone, loud enough that Lin Yu’an had to hold it away, ”Crazy! You’re completely insane!”

”Do you know what you’re saying? Section 10b-5 of the 1934 Securities Exchange Act! Prohibits any fraudulent acts in connection with securities trading! What do you call this? This is classic insider trading plus market manipulation!”

He yelled in rapid succession, ”Are you dragging me into this too? Once the SEC (U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission) investigates, all our calls, emails, will be used as evidence of conspiracy!”

”Those prosecutors in cheap suits will pounce on us like sharks smelling blood and devour us whole! By then, forget making money, we won’t even be able to keep our lawyer’s licenses!”

His roaring was filled with the instinctive fear of a professional lawyer towards legal risks.

Lin Yu’an just listened quietly. When he finished roaring, he asked with an extremely calm, even slightly teasing tone, ”Matty, are you done? If you’re done, let’s play a legal game.”

”What damn game?” Matty said irritably.

”First, I’m not an insider of any listed company, and I haven’t signed any confidentiality agreement. So, my information-gathering actions don’t constitute the statutory elements of insider trading. Right?”

Matty was stunned. That was a fact.

”Second, I’ve not spread any false information in the open market to affect stock prices. I simply shared my personal investment decisions with my own lawyer. That’s called private communication, not market manipulation. Right?”
