King of the Wilderness

Chapter 459: Chapter 255: Mad Dog Lawyer’s Tactics

The first thing they thought of was a commercial secret leak! The competitor must have obtained this detailed evaluation report!

This isn’t just a smoke bomb anymore! This is holding their strategic battle chart’s loopholes up for a public execution!

A competitor of Mountain Rat and Old Man’s Head just released a vague smoke bomb. They hoped it would perfectly collide with the internal evaluation report that truly existed within the company!

And now, Matty Singh, the old fox, is cleverly using this coincidence to elevate an incident that was originally just an external public opinion attack.

Forcibly escalating it to an internal secret leak, a more terrifying level that could trigger a boardroom earthquake!

But calming down, Marcus and Helen quickly replayed the entire event process in their minds, trying to find the loophole.

The good news is it can be confirmed that there was no commercial secret leak, an unforgivable act in the boardroom. But the result still left them with a cold sense of despair.

At the time, the Greater China Region market leader, Johnson, based on backend data, led the evaluation of Lin Yu’an’s contract renewal value and concluded not to renew.

After deciding not to renew the contract, Johnson’s team informed the relevant Bilibili operations personnel of this evaluation result in advance, so that the other party could make early preparations for appeasing the UP master.

Bilibili’s operations personnel then informed Lin Yu’an of the final decision.

This is a standard process in commercial cooperation, entirely compliant, but the issue lies precisely here!

These seemingly justified commercial operations have turned into a fatal loophole that no public relations can conceal once Justin’s post was released!

They indeed conveyed that misjudgment based on ”lack of commercial exposure” to Lin Yu’an himself through cooperation channels with Bilibili!

And now, Matty Singh, the old fox, doesn’t need to steal or pilfer any secrets.

He just needs to sit beside Lin Yu’an, listen to the whole story, and he will get the sharpest knife handed over by Archaeopteryx itself!

He doesn’t even need to prove the existence of the report because his client, Lin Yu’an, and third-party Bilibili are the final conveyors and recipients of the report!

For the first time, Helen’s voice trembled uncontrollably. They have fallen into a deadlock they had woven themselves, from which they cannot escape.

Matty just leisurely leaned back in his chair, fingers intertwined, calmly watching the two chaotic executives of Archaeopteryx.

He knew, from the very beginning of this battle, there was no suspense.

Because the opponent’s deadly weapon was blatantly displayed on the table, and they were the ones who put it there.

The only thing left was how to divide the spoils.

After the suffocating silence, Legal Director Helen forced herself to recover from the shock.

She knew the psychological defenses had been breached, now her only option was to try to maintain some dignity for the company in the upcoming land cessions and compensations.

”Alright, Mr. Singh.” Her voice was somewhat dry, ”Let’s talk about the new contract.”

She signaled her assistant to project the already prepared electronic contract, priced at 8 million US dollars, onto the conference room’s screen.

”I think this contract’s terms have already...”

”Scrapped.”

Matty Singh didn’t even look at the screen, he just spat out two cold words. The young lawyer behind him immediately stepped forward and took over the projection system with his computer.

On the screen appeared a new set of brief terms, but each clause was filled with oppressive contract drafts.

”Now,” Matty’s voice was like a judge sentencing, ”let’s talk about the new contract proposed by my client, Mr. Lin Yu’an.”

The next two hours in the conference room became a one-sided execution.

Helen’s legal team tried to futilely resist each of the Overlord clauses proposed by Matty.

”First clause, cooperation scope. Mr. Lin only provides non-exclusive portrait rights, meaning he can simultaneously cooperate with other outdoor brands...”

”Ms. Helen,” Matty interrupted her, ”my client has no obligation to forgo opportunities to cooperate with other more sincere brands due to your errors. This clause is non-negotiable.”

”Second clause, termination clause. If the brand party shows any negative news or commercial misjudgment damaging Mr. Lin’s public image, Mr. Lin has the right to unilaterally terminate without liability and receive full compensation for the remaining contract amount. ... Mr. Singh, this is too harsh!”

”Harsh?” Matty laughed.

”Didn’t the company’s commercial misjudgment this time damage my client’s image? I’m just putting what you’ve already done into the clauses. If you’re confident in yourselves, then this clause will never be triggered.”

”Third clause, concerning moral clauses. We request adding...”

”Agreed.” Matty surprisingly acceded.

But he added, ”But it must be mutual, simultaneously adding a clause stipulating that if Archaeopteryx brand and its parent company or executives engage in any commercial fraud, data falsification, or violation of their publicly declared environmental concepts.”

”My client also has the right to unilaterally terminate without liability and receive full compensation. After all, my client doesn’t wish to be bound to an unethical brand.”

Helen was completely speechless.

Finally, when all the clauses had been thoroughly refuted by Matty Singh’s impeccable logic, he leisurely opened the last page of the contract draft, the fee page.

”Alright, ladies and gentlemen. The farce is over.” He glanced at his watch, ”Now, let’s talk about the price.”

He didn’t reach out with his finger, but directly said to the assistant behind him: ”Show Mr. Weber all the reasons we just discussed.”

The young lawyer nodded and sequentially displayed several key documents on the projection.

The first document was precisely that social media heat analysis report.

”Mr. Weber, this report is the reason you fired the evaluator. It proved that a single erroneous evaluation cost you at least fifty million dollars in brand damage.”

The second document was a detailed introduction of Mountain Rat and Old Man’s Head, along with a summary of intelligence about their offer of equity and purchasing a mountain.

”And these two documents are the reason you sought a sky-high budget from the board. It proved you are facing unprecedented threats from top-notch competitors.”

The third document was the communication record of the ”non-renewal” that Matty Singh just received, passed from Bilibili’s operations personnel to Lin Yu’an.

”As for this,” Matty’s lips curled into a cold smile, ”is the reason you are asking Mr. Lin for forgiveness. It proves your harm has become a fact.”

He looked at Marcus, already driven to the edge of the cliff, and threw out the final judgement.
