Inheritance of Two Trillion

Chapter 1999: Chapter 1550: Things May Be More Complicated Than They Seem

When Bai Xiaosheng and Lei Ying returned to the hotel, it was already very late, and Lin Weiwei was worried about them. After all, even though she knew both of them were highly skilled, being in a foreign country, facing opponents with numbers and weapons, there were many unfavorable factors. How could Lin Weiwei not be worried?

Seeing them return safely, Lin Weiwei finally breathed a sigh of relief.

”Is the matter resolved?” Lin Weiwei asked, feeling relieved and curious about the details.

”We brought the person back, but the matter... is not over yet!” Lei Ying responded.

This statement was strange. Lin Weiwei was immediately surprised.

What does it mean to say they brought the person back but the matter isn’t resolved?

Bai Xiaosheng smiled upon seeing this and, while sipping the tea Lin Weiwei handed him, narrated the entire incident to her.

”What, there’s actually another Mr. Meifu behind Mr. Ruby!”

”Was it that Mr. Meifu who set up Daisy, and he’s also Daisy’s employer?”

”That Mr. Meifu’s brother-in-law is actually the head of the Group’s South America Division!”

Lin Weiwei was shocked, her face full of disbelief.

Indeed, behind this seemingly simple matter, there were so many hidden complexities.

Knowing Bai Xiaosheng wanted to see it through and meet Mr. Meifu, Lin Weiwei couldn’t help but exhale deeply.

On one hand, helping the girl Daisy was reassuring for her.

On the other hand, if the other side had such a connection with them, perhaps it could be easily resolved.

”Weiwei, you better not have too high expectations. Although I’ve never met Meifu, I can clearly see what kind of person Ruby is. Considering Meifu went to such lengths to scheme against a young girl, I believe he’s not easy to deal with. This matter might not be easily resolved!” Lei Ying said, stroking his chin.

Hearing this, Lin Weiwei became worried again and looked at Bai Xiaosheng.

”Actually, it’s not as bad as he says.” Bai Xiaosheng smiled at Lin Weiwei, looking into the air with a hint of contemplation, ”However, it’s sensible to learn more about this Meifu in advance and be prepared for the worst.”

”Should I start investigating this Meifu now?” Lin Weiwei immediately suggested.

”No need, I’ll do it myself. Before sleeping, I’ll search online on my phone.” Bai Xiaosheng replied casually.

In fact, as Bai Xiaosheng said this, he silently gave Red Lotus the command to investigate Meifu in his mind.

Red Lotus quickly scoured the internet for existing information and organized the data on Meifu for Bai Xiaosheng.

Bai Xiaosheng had also investigated Ruby, but compared to him, Mr. Meifu was indeed quite ”low-key,” with less information online than Ruby.

This was what intrigued Bai Xiaosheng.

Would a legitimate businessman need to deliberately maintain such a low profile?

Furthermore, the family Meifu belongs to was originally an obscure family in New Orleans, hardly recognized, but within the past decade, they suddenly emerged in the public eye. A once unknown Meifu quickly transformed into an unbeaten businessman and investor, profiting greatly with every move.

Such a figure, yet with such an unfitting low profile and scarce external information, clearly indicates manipulation at the source of information.

Moreover, they recruited someone like Ruby as a representative!

It wouldn’t be normal to consider this normal! Bai Xiaosheng slightly frowned.

The information Red Lotus found contained some subtle cues that ordinary people might not notice, but Bai Xiaosheng’s keen insights picked up on them. With the experience as an Affairs Officer and Senior Affairs Officer, Bai Xiaosheng instinctively pondered and questioned some things.

The rise of Meifu and his family’s history wasn’t normal. Could it be interpreted that the head of the South America Division of the group took considerable ”care” of this ”relative”?

This ”care” reached what level...

If there’s deep water within, what would he do, turn a blind eye, or...

Take charge!

The Asia Zone where he is located is separated from the South America Zone by an ocean. This time he came for business and cooperation. If he meddled in this matter, it wouldn’t just be a matter of whether the cooperation succeeded, but of making enemies!

The other party’s position was half a level higher than his!

Even Bai Xiaosheng couldn’t help but consider these issues seriously.

Another thing that particularly concerned Bai Xiaosheng.

The Zhenbei Group headquarters clearly has a monitoring department, yet they didn’t detect anything unusual here?

Did they not notice, or was the other party so powerful that they even managed to cover it all up!

The more Bai Xiaosheng thought about it, the more serious the matter seemed.

”Xiaosheng, Xiaosheng?”

It wasn’t until Lin Weiwei called his name several times that Bai Xiaosheng snapped out of his thoughts.

”What were you thinking about? Why did you suddenly start pondering so deeply?” Lin Weiwei couldn’t help but ask.

”Nothing.” Bai Xiaosheng smiled and shook his head.

Right now, Bai Xiaosheng wasn’t ready to explain, as they hadn’t ”investigated” Meifu yet, but he knew many things, which would be hard to explain.

Bai Xiaosheng heard some music playing, it seemed to have been playing for a while.

”What is that sound, why does it seem so familiar?” Bai Xiaosheng couldn’t help but ask.

Lin Weiwei chuckled, ”It’s your phone!”

”Oh!” Bai Xiaosheng suddenly realized, with a self-deprecating smile.

It seemed he had been so lost in thought that he even ignored his phone ringing.

Lei Ying shrugged helplessly.

Bai Xiaosheng picked up the phone and looked at it, instantly surprised.

The caller was Daisy!

”So soon, there’s already a response?!” Bai Xiaosheng couldn’t help but mutter.

It seemed Mr. Meifu was also quite curious about his side!

Indeed, being able to force Ruby to release people, taking Daisy away and disrupting his plans, naturally made Mr. Meifu furious. Plus, considering Bai Xiaosheng associated himself with the Qin Family, it was understandable that Meifu would be very curious about them!

Lin Weiwei and Lei Ying both saw the caller ID and knew what it was about, so they immediately looked at Bai Xiaosheng, waiting for him to speak to the caller.

Bai Xiaosheng answered the call, and his expression changed to a smile.

”Daisy, is that you? Yes, has Meifu already told you that he wants to meet with us? The location is already set... Okay, okay, understood... Don’t worry, we’ll resolve this matter with your master well! Yes, rest assured, we will be there tomorrow. No need to send a car, we’ll call a car and it would be great if you could greet us there.” Bai Xiaosheng talked with Daisy on the phone, finished discussing the important things, and then gave her some instructions, ”When you’re with Meifu, you must act indifferent towards us, say we’re just a bunch of meddlesome Huaxia people you’ve recently met, don’t show any anger towards him unless he directly brings it up. You mustn’t reveal anything, just play dumb. And don’t show any expectation towards us... Yes, that’s how you should handle it.”

Bai Xiaosheng’s instructions to Daisy were naturally for her own good.

No matter how the situation ended, Bai Xiaosheng wanted to ensure Daisy’s personal safety and well-being first.

It was only after Daisy agreed to his instructions that Bai Xiaosheng hung up the phone.

”It’s settled. Tomorrow we will meet Mr. Meifu!” Bai Xiaosheng put down the phone and turned to Lin Weiwei and Lei Ying, ”However, from Daisy, I heard some news—”

As he spoke, Bai Xiaosheng deliberately glanced at Lei Ying and smiled, ”I heard Mr. Meifu has someone extremely skilled by his side, called the God of Killing, who is reportedly very tough, having fought his way out of the battlefield, is ruthless, and hard to deal with. She’s worried this person might show up, catching us off guard.”

Lei Ying snorted dismissively, ”Someone said to be so formidable, those who died at my hands on the battlefield never amounted to even a squad. I’d like to see just how formidable this God of Killing is!”

Lei Ying’s terrifying record needs no elaboration. And he doesn’t boast.

Bai Xiaosheng wasn’t worried about this matter at all, only bringing it up as a kindness from Daisy.

”What truly concerns me is Mr. Meifu. Being able to enlist someone like Ruby, having business dealings in the gray area, makes me wonder whether Mr. Meifu is involved with his brother-in-law—our head of the South America Division—or if unknowingly dragging him into trouble! Even—”

”The waters could be deep and murky!”

Bai Xiaosheng was giving Lin Weiwei and Lei Ying a heads-up.

The two of them immediately focused.

”In any case, we’ll discuss it after meeting tomorrow.” Bai Xiaosheng smiled, ”I hope I’ve overthought it, otherwise—”

”I might not be able to stay out of it!”
