Inheritance of Two Trillion

Chapter 1980: Chapter 1540: It’s All Your Fault! (Part 2)

The surrounding passersby also started exclaiming.

The officer, who was originally just walking over, saw that there was indeed a violent incident happening, and immediately switched to running, one hand on the gun at his waist.

Bai Xiaosheng and the two others were momentarily stunned by the sudden change.

However, with Bai Xiaosheng and Lei Ying by her side, Lin Weiwei was not scared; on the contrary, she was exceptionally calm.

The homeless man took a dozen steps forward but suddenly felt his vision darken as a towering Asian man blocked his path.

The homeless man was startled and surprised that someone would actually intervene. He hastily reached for his knife, but in his panic, it slipped from his hand, and the small folding fruit knife fell to the ground.

The homeless man’s expression changed, wondering whether he should pick it up, but he was astonished to find that the big guy stepped to the side and returned to his original position.

Incredibly, he was letting him through...

The homeless man found it inexplicable and didn’t even bother to pick up the knife as he sprinted away.

The one who first blocked the path and then stepped aside was, of course, Lei Ying.

His initial reaction was to block the person, but he stepped aside after giving it a thought.

He didn’t want to get involved.

Besides what Donna Chen said about Huaxia in the clock store, for them to accuse and frame fellow countrymen on this foreign street—they didn’t deserve help!

Lei Ying never considered himself a noble person. He preferred a saying from Sage Kong, ”Returning good for evil”— the latter half of it.

”If you repay evil with good, how will you repay good?”

To put it simply, if someone treats you poorly, and you don’t hold a grudge but still do nice things for them, then what do you give to those who truly treat you well?

The sage’s answer was, ”Repay evil with uprightness, and good with good!”

Treat others the way they treat you—repay hostility with hostility, kindness with kindness!

They don’t acknowledge being Huaxia people, deny common ancestry, and publicly accuse and set up others—why should I help?

Lei Ying let the homeless man go.

And Bai Xiaosheng didn’t move at all, standing quietly.

The streets were filled with distant onlookers.

In the West, personal heroism is admired, and hero movies are popular.

Hero movies are enjoyable, but life is your own...

The elderly woman Donna Chen and the mixed-race girl Molly saw the officer running over and were emboldened. The old lady grabbed an officer, shouting, ”Someone stole our things! Catch them! Catch them!”

”OK, OK!” the officer responded while frowning, pushing Donna Chen’s hand away, ”Please keep your distance! Do not touch the officer! Do not touch my gun! Or I will not be polite!”

In her urgency, Donna Chen didn’t realize her actions were inappropriate, but being sternly reprimanded by the officer, she dared not act up further.

The two officers chased after them, planning to detain Bai Xiaosheng and the others as the old lady had called them bad people.

”It’s not them! It’s not them! The thief is getting away!” Molly hurriedly shouted.

She wasn’t helping Bai Xiaosheng and the others out of kindness; she knew they were unrelated, and letting the real thief go would be very problematic.

The two officers glanced at Bai Xiaosheng and the others, bypassing them and continued to chase down the street.

The elderly woman Donna Chen and the mixed-race girl Molly finally breathed a sigh of relief, each clutching their chests in some fright.

”Let’s go, catch our flight,” Bai Xiaosheng said indifferently to Lin Weiwei and Lei Ying.

They had limited time and didn’t want to delay further, especially with Donna Chen and Molly, the troublesome grandmother and granddaughter.

Lin Weiwei and Lei Ying nodded, and following Bai Xiaosheng, they were about to leave.

Unexpectedly, just as the three were passing Donna Chen and her granddaughter, the old lady perked up upon seeing them, even widening her eyes and ordering sharply, ”You three, stop!”

Bai Xiaosheng looked at the old lady in surprise and halted his steps.

The elderly woman Donna Chen actually knew that Bai Xiaosheng and his friends couldn’t possibly have any malicious intent, much less be in cahoots with the thief, which is why she had the courage to command him to stop.

”Is there something you need?” Bai Xiaosheng asked.

Donna Chen surprisingly agile, far exceeding what her age should allow, pulled her granddaughter Molly to block Bai Xiaosheng and the others.

”Why didn’t you stop the guy who was stealing our stuff just now?” Donna Chen questioned angrily.

Bai Xiaosheng found it amusing, ”Why should we stop him?”

”He’s a bad person, he stole from us!” Molly said as if it was obvious.

”The officers are already chasing him,” Bai Xiaosheng replied.

The mixed-race girl Molly looked irritated, ”But you could’ve just reached out and stopped him to help!”

Lin Weiwei behind Bai Xiaosheng practically found it funny, scoffing, ”Earlier, weren’t you pointing at us from meters away, saying we were the bad guys? How could you expect bad people to help?”

Lei Ying also chuckled coldly, ”That person had a weapon. Do you expect us to risk our lives for your little loss?”

Molly was left speechless but still glared angrily.

”In any case, it’s your fault for not helping!” Donna Chen said angrily.

She couldn’t argue rationally, yet she firmly believed she was right, and Bai Xiaosheng and his friends were wrong.

If they didn’t step in to help her, then they were in the wrong!

”This is the quality of Huaxia people!” Donna Chen said to her granddaughter, pointing at Bai Xiaosheng and Lei Ying, ”You two big men, being so cowardly, it’s truly shameful!”

Donna Chen had long harbored resentment towards Bai Xiaosheng and his friends, and seeing them not help made her even angrier, essentially venting her fury.

The mixed-race girl Molly also nodding angrily.

Bai Xiaosheng expressionless, pointed at the crowd of onlookers, ”So in your eyes, did these high-quality foreign friends, those tall and strong men, step in?”
