Inheritance of Two Trillion

Chapter 1997: Chapter 1548: Two Interested Parties

Bai Xiaosheng tried again, but Ruby refused flatly.

So Bai Xiaosheng put the check back in his pocket.

Lately, it’s been quite amusing; whether in Riggris or New Orleans, this thing that Westerners love the most, checks, can hardly be given away.

The conversation was more or less over. Bai Xiaosheng smiled and stood up; Lei Ying and Daisy noticed and stood up as well.

Ruby also sprang up as if he’d been fitted with a spring.

”Then we won’t disturb you further. Mr. Ruby, once you’ve contacted Mr. Meifu, have him get in touch with Daisy, and we’ll visit to discuss and resolve this matter amicably,” Bai Xiaosheng said. ”It’s getting late, so we won’t bother you any longer.”

”Yes, yes, I’ll do it as soon as possible!” Ruby nodded to Bai Xiaosheng and then bent slightly to glance at Lei Ying, repeating, ”As soon as possible!”

Lei Ying smiled, placed the firearms — which he had cleaned of his fingerprints after assembling — back on the table; he couldn’t take them with him.

And so, Bai Xiaosheng left with Lei Ying and Daisy, with Mr. Ruby following behind to see them off.

Some of the bodyguards that Bai Xiaosheng and Lei Ying had taken down followed closely, while others were still unconscious...

Outside Ruby Manor, in the distance inside a taxi, Ayuo was idly playing with his phone.

The wait always feels long and painful.

If it weren’t for the money, he wouldn’t be working so hard.

Just now, on the radio, a friend asked where Ayuo was.

Ayuo boasted to his friend, ”You could say I got lucky this time. I picked up two wealthy Huaxia people; they’ve given me a lot of money, plus their friend knows Mr. Ruby. I’m waiting here for them to come out so I can take them back.”

Ayuo’s words were met with laughter from his friend, ”Stop bragging, Ayuo. If your guests’ friend really knows Mr. Ruby, would they be riding in your run-down car?”

”What’s wrong with my car? It’s way better than yours. Why can’t my guests’ friend know Mr. Ruby? You’re just too narrow-minded...” Ayuo retorted.

Just then, Ayuo suddenly noticed a bright light ahead and looked up, finding it blinding.

The entrance of Ruby Manor, tens of meters away, suddenly lit up with all the lights, and two spotlights locked onto his car.

Ayuo was startled, unable to respond to his friend’s words on the radio.

Then he vaguely saw a group of people walking towards him.

He couldn’t help but swallow, wondering if parking was prohibited at Ruby Manor and if he should drive away. But then he saw who it was coming.

In the lead were clearly the two Huaxia guests he had brought.

But those following closely behind them made his eyes narrow sharply.

Ru-ru-ruby!

God knows how intense the shock in Ayuo’s heart was at that moment.

”What’s wrong, cat got your tongue, you braggart?”

Ayuo stared straight ahead, pressed the button, and said shakily, ”If I told you that Mr. Ruby personally escorted the guests I brought to my cab, would you believe it...”

Mr. Ruby personally saw Bai Xiaosheng and the others into the taxi.

In fact, he wanted to arrange a car for them, hoping to find out where Bai Xiaosheng was staying to report to Mr. Meifu.

Bai Xiaosheng refused.

Ruby couldn’t insist further.

Seeing the taxi driver was a very ”considerate” young man, eagerly opening and closing doors and showing him great respect, Mr. Ruby thought for a moment and pulled out a wad of cash, handing it over to pay for Bai Xiaosheng’s fare.

The young taxi driver was immediately thrilled, expressing his gratitude repeatedly.

Ruby waved his hand casually, then, through the car window, smiled and bade farewell to Bai Xiaosheng and the others.

Watching the taxi drive away, Mr. Ruby stood there a long time, then quickly turned and hurried back to his manor.

He felt he had thoroughly botched the matter!

Not only had he failed Mr. Meifu’s instructions, but he may have made an enemy, and the other party wanted to meet Mr. Meifu.

For all of this, Ruby was eager to report to Mr. Meifu.

He made the call, and in his nervousness, it finally connected.

”How did it go?” a ”gentle” voice came from the other end.

Ruby knew well how terrifying the owner of that beguiling voice could be when angry.

”Mr. Meifu, we ran into a little situation here,” Ruby said, swallowing hard and bracing himself.

Then Ruby relayed everything that had happened to Mr. Meifu, waiting nervously for a reprimand.

”Oh, you mean two unknown Huaxia people appeared, beat up a dozen of your men, are skilled with firearms, disarmed you, are familiar with the Qin Family, and wish to see me to talk about this matter?” Mr. Meifu repeated, laughing.

”Yes,” Mr. Ruby said timidly.

The formidable lord of New Orleans, revered by many, was as scared as a child.

”You pig, using my name to intimidate, yet they didn’t even bat an eye. I should thank you, Ruby,” Mr. Meifu’s words sent shivers down Ruby’s spine, prompting immediate apologies.

”Useless! If not for your past efforts, I’d have dealt with you first!” The voice turned cold.

Ruby felt relieved; being scolded was better than listening to that sinister laughter.

Then, Mr. Meifu’s stern voice came again, ”But hearing this, I’m also quite interested in meeting these two reckless, naïve Huaxia people!”
