Inheritance of Two Trillion

Chapter 1978: Chapter 1539: You Don’t Understand Its Value (3)

Bai Xiaosheng gazed at the watch and said, ”The shop owner was very thoughtful when modifying it, preserving the Chinese characters and red star on it while integrating his own creative ideas. To me, both preservation and creation have reached a kind of extreme balance, more like a balance of yin and yang!”

For the first time, a deep emotion appeared on the old shop owner Sebastian’s face as he looked at Bai Xiaosheng incredulously.

On the other side, the elderly woman Donna Chen smirked, seemingly indifferent to Bai Xiaosheng’s commentary, and lazily said, ”Kid, do you even have money, or are you just spouting nonsense here, talking big!”

”Exactly, all your flowery words mean nothing. You appreciate its value, but can you afford its price?” the mixed-race beauty Molly mocked.

Lin Weiwei was very annoyed looking at these two women.

Lei Ying’s gaze also showed his disdain for them.

Bai Xiaosheng glanced at Donna Chen and her granddaughter with amusement, shaking his head as if he was simply playing the lute to a cow.

Bai Xiaosheng gestured to Lin Weiwei, and Lin Weiwei understood, taking out a checkbook and pen to hand over.

Bai Xiaosheng took the checkbook, opened to a page, and scribbled some lines, then tore it off and handed it to the old shop owner, saying gently, ”Sir, here is one million US dollars. I want this watch!”

Bai Xiaosheng’s action instantly left the elderly woman Donna Chen and her granddaughter Molly speechless.

A million US dollars?

The grandmother and granddaughter’s expressions changed slightly, as if they couldn’t believe it.

”Is it real?” Donna Chen pointed to the old shop owner Sebastian and shouted, ”Look carefully, is this real or not! Huaxia people are the best at faking things!”

The old shop owner Sebastian took Bai Xiaosheng’s check, not even looking at it, but made an unexpected move. He tore the check in half directly, then folded and tore it again, and repeated until it became fragments.

This move surprised Bai Xiaosheng as well.

The elderly woman Donna Chen laughed aloud at this and said to Bai Xiaosheng, ”See, he doesn’t believe you at all!”

The mixed-race beauty snickered continuously, as if Bai Xiaosheng had been greatly humiliated.

Lin Weiwei and Lei Ying looked at the old shop owner in astonishment.

”Forgive me for such an ungentlemanly and rude action, my young sir.” The old shop owner Sebastian put the pieces into his pocket and sincerely said to Bai Xiaosheng.

Was this an apology?

Bai Xiaosheng looked at him in surprise, waiting for the old gentleman to continue.

The grandmother and granddaughter, Donna Chen and Molly, couldn’t have anticipated this scene, their smiles froze on their faces, blinking as if they didn’t understand what the old shop owner meant.

Even Lin Weiwei and Lei Ying exchanged puzzled glances.

Everyone watched as the old shop owner opened the showcase, carefully took out the watch, and examined it.

”This was given to me by a Huaxia friend many years ago, and I have always cherished it.” The old shop owner looked at the watch with emotion, ”I once served in the military, participated in peacekeeping missions, and a piece of shrapnel should have seriously wounded me, but it damaged this watch instead, so I had it modified. Fortunately, it is still so perfect!”

The old shop owner caressed the watch, ”It was originally not for sale!”

He then handed the watch to Bai Xiaosheng, ”But you, my young sir, you are from Huaxia, you understand it, it should belong to you!”

The old shop owner Sebastian eagerly said, ”I won’t sell it, but I can give it to you!”

Not selling... giving...

Donna Chen and her granddaughter Molly looked at the old shop owner in shock.

Not even wanting real money, giving it away for free, is this foolish!

”This...” Bai Xiaosheng hesitated a bit.

”Take it! I may not have the opportunity to go to Huaxia to find my friend, but you can take it back to Huaxia!” The old shop owner Sebastian spoke to Bai Xiaosheng with great eagerness, ”Huaxia is my favorite place besides my homeland, one that I admire greatly, with many people there whom I respect!”

Upon hearing the old shop owner’s words, Bai Xiaosheng no longer refused and took the watch with both hands.

The old shop owner Sebastian smiled contentedly, then looked at the elderly woman with an indifferent expression, ”As for you, madam, you are no longer a Huaxia person, you have the right to no longer love Huaxia but be loyal to your current country. However, you also have no right to criticize Huaxia! No right to criticize Huaxia people!”

The old shop owner’s words were firm, surprisingly admonishing.

The elderly woman Donna Chen stared at the old shop owner in disbelief, clearly not expecting to be lectured.

She also wasn’t accustomed to confronting a foreign gentleman.

”There is nothing here that suits you, please leave now!” the old shop owner coldly threw the words at the elderly woman, nodded to Bai Xiaosheng, and turned to walk toward his workbench.

It seemed he had been delayed too long; he needed to get back to work.

The old shop owner’s steps were steady, his back straight.

There are always some people who, regardless of race or color, inspire admiration in others.

Bai Xiaosheng didn’t even look at the stunned grandmother and granddaughter, pocketed the watch, and beckoned Lin Weiwei and Lei Ying, ”Let’s go!”
