This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Doctor Yan didn’t act pretentious and directly asked the family member beside the patient.

However, the family member didn’t seem to appreciate the gesture. She glanced at the patient on the bed before finally turning to Doctor Yan with a smile. ”Thank you, Doctor, but no thank you. It’s nothing serious; don’t listen to my sister’s nonsense.”

Doctor Yan didn’t take offense to her reluctance and just murmured an acknowledgment before preparing to leave.

But the patient on the sick bed didn’t seem to agree, hurriedly calling out, ”Doctor Yan, wait.”

After speaking, she immediately looked at her sister with a worried expression. ”Sis, last night you were in so much pain, curled up into a ball. How can you say it’s nothing?

Doctor Yan is highly skilled in the Gynecology Department. You know about my condition; it’s been three or four years, and many doctors couldn’t help. But since I came to Doctor Yan, as you can see, it’s been controlled in just four days.”

The patient earnestly persuaded her sister, praising Doctor Yan to the skies. This made Doctor Yan, who had been planning to leave, feel a bit embarrassed, so she once again looked at the family member beside her.

If she agrees, I’ll just take a look, Doctor Yan thought. At worst, I won’t charge the registration fee. If she still doesn’t want it, I certainly won’t impose.

Under her younger sister’s fervent, hopeful, and pleading gaze, the family member hesitated briefly before nodding in agreement.

After that, there wasn’t much more to say. The family member lay down on the sick bed next to her sister, and Doctor Yan began the check-up while asking questions.

”Where are you uncomfortable?”

”Here, in my lower abdomen, slightly to the right. Every time it hurts, the pain makes me tremble.”

”Okay, I’m going to press. Tell me if you feel any pain.”

Doctor Yan pressed the woman’s lower abdomen bit by bit. But to Doctor Yan’s surprise, at almost every spot she pressed, the woman showed an expression of discomfort.

Although the woman didn’t cry out, her facial expression clearly showed she wasn’t comfortable—in fact, she seemed to be in great pain.

How strange!

Doctor Yan couldn’t determine the cause immediately, so she continued to press, even reaching the hip joint and the top of the thigh. The woman still showed a very pained expression.

Internal Medicine Department?

Trauma?

Doctor Yan was bewildered.

She could only continue to probe slowly.

Hm?

As Doctor Yan pressed on the surface of the woman’s thigh, her finger suddenly pricked with a sharp pain.

What was that?

Puzzled, she looked at her finger. Seeing it wasn’t broken, she looked at the woman and asked, ”What’s in your pocket? Take it out and put it aside.

If you keep it in your pocket, it’s either going to prick me, or it will prick you when I press down.”

The woman’s mouth twitched slightly. She said softly, ”There’s nothing there. Thank you, Doctor. I’m fine; no need for a further check-up.”

Doctor Yan was now intrigued by the woman’s symptoms. She felt the woman was definitely ill and said to her, ”I just saw your expression. Every place I pressed, you looked very uncomfortable.

We need to take this seriously. Let’s not let a minor ailment turn into a major one.

Quickly, take out whatever is in your pocket, and I’ll check you again.”

Seeing the woman’s somewhat unnatural expression, Doctor Yan continued, ”Or how about we find an empty hospital room? You can take off your clothes, and I’ll examine you.”

The woman sighed softly, then reached into her pocket, took something out, and held it in her hand. She then lay back down properly and said to Doctor Yan, ”Just do the check-up here.”

Doctor Yan didn’t look closely at what the woman held in her hand. She didn’t want to know what it was; after all, if someone didn’t want you to see something, it was undoubtedly private.

So, seeing the woman lie down again, she prepared to begin the check-up once more.

However, Doctor Yan didn’t see it. But the older nurse beside her, who had been casually chatting with her just moments before, caught a glimpse of the object’s shape.

A needle?

A needle!

The older nurse was suddenly alarmed.

Right now, because of what had just happened, her heart was still pounding.

Scissors, bloodstains, HIV, occupational exposure—these sensitive and terrifying words still swirled in her mind.

Now, seeing the needle, her heart involuntarily clenched.

Who would use a needle?

What would one use a needle for?

Why wouldn’t she want others to see that she has a needle?

Instantly, a series of associations sparked by the word ”needle” flashed through the older nurse’s mind: needle, hidden, drug addict, tool, HIV, occupational exposure?

As the older nurse thought of this, her gaze involuntarily sharpened.

The issue Du Heng had just emphasized had appeared so abruptly before her very eyes!

Seeing Doctor Yan about to begin the check-up again, the older nurse, not knowing if the woman had other similar items in her pocket, or if this woman was some kind of twisted pervert who might suddenly stab Doctor Yan, blurted out in her urgency, ”Stop!”

Doctor Yan was startled by the sudden voice from behind her. Her hand, which she was just about to lower for the check-up, jerked back in fright.

When she recognized the voice as the nurse’s from behind her, she immediately turned around, annoyed. ”What are you doing? You scared me to death!”

The older nurse quickly took a breath and said to Doctor Yan, ”Doctor Yan, isn’t your current procedure against regulations?”
