This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

He had used this method before, and now employing it again, he was even more adept. His speed was so remarkable it hardly seemed like medical treatment, especially the speed of needle insertion, which seemed almost playful.

The family members watched Du Heng perform acupuncture; his movements were like a juggling act. Their hearts pounded, but they dared not make a sound for fear of disturbing him.

As for the doctors who had come to learn the treatment of stroke, they knew Du Heng was skilled in acupuncture.

But now, seeing Du Heng wield the needles with such swiftness, yet with unerring accuracy at each point and employing the most suitable technique, was difficult for them to accept.

Everyone was of a similar age; some were even older than Du Heng. They could accept his high level of theoretical knowledge, attributing it to his sharp mind and aptitude for studying; that much, they could tolerate.

But now, discovering his practical skills far surpassed their own, leaving them feeling as if they were in the dust, was much harder to accept.

Among them, some held the title of traditional Chinese medicine practitioner. However, when it came to acupuncture—a highly technical skill—they might not even be able to locate all the acupoints correctly, knowing only some basic theories.

Watching Du Heng’s dazzling performance now, they felt as if they had wasted years of their lives.

Du Heng paid them no mind, nor did he have the time to. He wasn’t showing off either, because the faster the patient’s intracranial pressure was relieved and the hemorrhage stopped, the better the recovery would be.

So, as soon as the first round of treatment was completed, Du Heng straightened up. Taking a moment to catch his breath, he exchanged the three-edged needle for a fine needle to begin the second round of treatment.

Working from top to bottom, he used a fine needle to forcefully stimulate GV-25, philtrum, PC-06, ST-36, ST-40, and KI-01, concluding with a strong stimulation on the patient’s healthy side.

The sole purpose of this was to guide the blood downward and help the patient regain consciousness quickly.

By the time he finished, a light sheen of sweat had appeared on Du Heng’s forehead.

At this time, Director Cao of the Internal Medicine Department had already arrived in the hospital room. Seeing Du Heng finish the treatment, he asked quietly, ”Dean, what should we do now?”

Du Heng exhaled softly and then said, ”Just administer the standard treatment for cerebral hemorrhage. There are no other special requirements.”

Director Cao nodded gently and then went forward to check on the patient’s current condition.

When Du Heng saw Director Cao approach, he said to the other doctors in the hospital room, ”Remind me at four in the afternoon; I need to come back to give the patient another acupuncture session.

Also, tell Wu Buwei not to administer any Chinese herbal medicine to the patient during this period, other than the injectables I just mentioned.

As for Director Cao’s medication, don’t interfere. Just follow Director Cao’s arrangements.”

After giving these instructions, Du Heng stood aside. Once Director Cao finished examining the patient and began to review the examination reports, Du Heng stepped forward to check on the patient again.

However, after this check-up, Du Heng said nothing more and simply turned and walked out of the hospital room.

But he didn’t return to his office; instead, he headed towards the Gynecology Department.

His first words to Gao Qin were, ”Director Gao, what’s the current situation here?”

Gao Qin gave a bitter smile. ”Both of them lied yesterday.” Then she recounted what had happened.

Du Heng felt utterly frustrated. They’re really playing with fire, he thought.

However, after the madness, they would face a punishment they would regret for the rest of their lives.

As for Qi Xiaoqing’s husband, there wasn’t much to say. The two were supposedly in love, had discussed the matter openly in front of Qi Xiaoqing, and he apparently didn’t care about being HIV-positive.

Yu Zhiwei’s wife, however, would have to live cautiously for the rest of her life. The slightest misstep could lead to a recurrence of her infection or contracting other viruses.

In her condition, she had virtually no immune resistance remaining.

More importantly, while her current condition was controllable, the risks associated with pregnancy—both for her and for a child potentially carrying the virus—would be exceptionally high.

Yu Zhiwei would likely choose not to have children for the sake of their potential health.

It was even more probable that Yu Zhiwei would choose to divorce her.

Du Heng sighed softly. He made no comment on their private lives, merely asking Gao Qin quietly, ”Director Gao, do they both want to receive treatment?”

Gao Qin shook her head. ”Things were a bit chaotic just now, and the news was quite explosive. Neither of them has mentioned whether they want to receive treatment.”

Du Heng fell silent for a moment, wondering if he should see things through to the end and help them resolve everything at once.

But just as he was about to speak, the door of the office behind him was suddenly pushed open.

”Director Gao, Qi Xiaoqing and her husband got into a fight! Qi Xiaoqing stabbed him!”

The person who burst in, agitated, was the nurse Gao Qin had assigned that morning.

Only after the nurse finished shouting did she notice Du Heng was also in the office. Realizing her loss of composure, her face instantly paled.

But Du Heng had no time to concern himself with the nurse.

His expression changed, and he hurried out.

Qi Xiaoqing had stabbed someone—and it was her HIV-positive husband. Du Heng couldn’t help but panic.

Setting aside the assault itself within the hospital, if the weapon used to stab him then injured someone else, causing the virus to spread, the trouble today would be immense.

Seeing Du Heng sprint out, Gao Qin suddenly realized the severity of the problem.

The nurse was unaware of the man with glasses’ condition, as was the intern. Therefore, the nurse had simply rushed in to report that someone had been injured.

But the intern is still in there!

What if the young man gets flustered, rushes in too quickly, and gets scratched...

In those few short seconds, while Du Heng was fraught with anxiety, Gao Qin felt as if her heart was about to explode.

Buddha, please protect us! she silently prayed, then sprinted out after Du Heng.

Please, don’t let anything happen, she thought. If something truly goes wrong, I, Gao Qin, am finished today.

She hadn’t clearly explained the patient’s situation to the doctors and nurses. For such a serious incident to occur in her department, she, whether as the attending doctor or the Department Director, would be considered derelict in her duty.

Qi Xiaoqing had gone berserk, a hundred times more frenzied than when she had learned about her syphilis the previous day.

She was now clutching a pair of small scissors, the kind nurses commonly used, its tip stained with a trace of blood, and she waved them relentlessly.

If the intern and several other nurses hadn’t been restraining her, holding her arms, she would have already lunged at the man with glasses.

”You bastard! You animal! I thought you were an honest man! I thought you just loved your job and were too tired from working every day to be affectionate with me!

No wonder you and your mother were always on my case, pestering me to have your child!”

Qi Xiaoqing struggled fiercely, the scissors in her hand flailing dangerously close to those restraining her. ”Let me go! I’m going to kill this beast!”

Across the room, in a corner, the man with glasses clutched his injured hand, sheltered behind a burly male nurse. Both of them stared coldly at the frenzied Qi Xiaoqing.

Their expressions were as if they were watching a stranger, or someone with a mental illness having an episode.

This detached reaction, however, only fueled Qi Xiaoqing’s agitation and fury, causing her to struggle even more violently.

Reaching the doorway, Du Heng watched Qi Xiaoqing brandishing the scissors wildly. His heart seemed to clench with every reckless swing, and a tremor ran through his entire body.

”Stop! What do you think you’re doing?” Du Heng shouted sharply, then looked at Qi Xiaoqing and said, ”Qi Xiaoqing, do you realize you’re committing a crime?”

His sharp rebuke instantly silenced the room, and all eyes turned to Du Heng.

Just as Qi Xiaoqing, after a brief moment of distraction, was about to erupt again, Du Heng quickly softened his tone. ”Qi Xiaoqing, it’s not worth it. You’re still young, and so beautiful. You mustn’t do anything foolish.”

Du Heng was the Dean and her attending doctor; his words carried natural authority. This sudden, gentle persuasion caused the humiliated and enraged Qi Xiaoqing to finally break down.

”Doctor Du, this bastard... he...”

Du Heng slowly approached Qi Xiaoqing’s side. ”Really, Qi Xiaoqing, you have to believe me. Your illness is not a problem for me. I will help you become a normal person again.

To ruin the good days ahead of you for a moment of anger—it’s not worth it. It’s really not worth it.”
