This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Unaware of the commotion in the Gynecology Department, Du Heng was listening to Wu Buwei brief him on the patient’s situation.

”Female, 46 years old. According to her family, she has had hypertension for many years without effective control and has been experiencing numbness in her hands and feet.”

”This morning, after having breakfast and preparing to go to work, she suddenly fainted and fell at the doorway. When helped up, she showed symptoms such as loss of speech, facial paralysis, and drooling from the corner of her mouth.”

”The patient’s family also mentioned that she showed signs of vomiting on the way here.”

Upon hearing that the patient had vomited, Du Heng’s eyebrows furrowed slightly, and he immediately asked Wu Buwei, ”Have you done a CT scan?”

”It’s being done now; they should be back soon.”

As Wu Buwei finished speaking, several people walked past outside the ward, followed by a patient bed being pushed along.

Spotting the situation outside the office, Wu Buwei promptly informed Du Heng, ”Brother, they’re back.”

Du Heng glanced back, but by the time he turned, he couldn’t see anything.

”Let’s go and check on the patient’s condition,” Du Heng said, leading the way out of the office.

As they headed towards the ward, he quietly asked Wu Buwei, ”This has a high probability of being a cerebral hemorrhage. Why was she sent to our hospital?”

As Du Heng stepped out of the office, Wu Buwei quickly followed. ”An elderly family member had a stroke last September, and we treated him. He can now use a cane to go to the toilet by himself.”

”So, when the patient presented with facial paralysis and loss of speech today, they assumed it was a stroke. After calling the Health Clinic, they sent her here directly.”

By the time they finished speaking, they had arrived at the patient’s room. After the nurse settled the patient onto her bed, Du Heng immediately approached her.

At first glance, Du Heng had a very bad feeling.

The patient had lost consciousness again. With each breath, the sound of sputum churning in her throat rumbled like a tractor.

Furthermore, the patient’s face was crimson, like that of a drunk person. Her hands were tightly clenched, and there were signs of muscle spasms in her limbs.

With just one glance, Du Heng identified the patient’s key symptoms. Suspecting a cerebral hemorrhage, he lifted the patient’s eyelids to take a look.

As expected, he saw two unequal pupils.

Once Du Heng finished all his examinations, he didn’t need to think much further; he had already reached a conclusion.

He had seen similar cases several times by now. It was indeed cerebral hemorrhage, just much milder than previous instances.

While Du Heng was examining the patient, Wu Buwei had inquired about the details with the doctor who had accompanied the patient. As soon as Du Heng completed his examination, Wu Buwei immediately informed him, ”Brother, the patient has a left temporal and right basal ganglia hemorrhage, with a lacunar infarction in the right basal ganglia area.”

Although it sounded complicated, it ultimately boiled down to cerebral hemorrhage and cerebral infarction.

Since Du Heng had already made his judgment, he didn’t show any surprise upon hearing Wu Buwei’s report. He said softly, ”The patient’s stroke has affected her internal organs, and phlegm-heat has accumulated within her body.”

”Administer Qingkailing and Xingnaojing intravenously, and prepare salvia tetramethylpyrazine injections. Also, get a set of needle utensils right now, quickly.”

As soon as Du Heng finished speaking, the nurse behind him turned and left to make preparations. Du Heng continued to instruct Wu Buwei, ”Call Director Cao and ask him to bring his team for routine treatment.”

”I’ll call Director Cao right away,” Wu Buwei promptly agreed and hurried out to make the call.

While waiting, Du Heng stood quietly by the patient’s bedside, observing her condition and further refining the treatment plan he was preparing to implement.

The Qingkailing, Xingnaojing, and salvia tetramethylpyrazine he had mentioned earlier were medicinal preparations developed by Traditional Chinese Medicine over the years. They were formulated to be like Western medicine, making them easier to store and use.

The development and application of such medicinal preparations marked a step forward for Traditional Chinese Medicine. With these medications, especially when treating patients with acute conditions, there was no need to wait ten to twenty minutes for a decoction of medicine to be prepared.

Qingkailing and Xingnaojing are injections made from ingredients such as artificial musk, gardenia, and curcuma, with the purpose of clearing heat and opening orifices.

Salvia tetramethylpyrazine is also an injectable drug. Its function is to promote blood circulation and remove blood stasis, which enhances the patient’s absorption of drugs while also preventing the formation of brain hernias.

As for brain hernias, they are a sequela of long-term brain tissue displacement, resulting in either death or disability.

Therefore, when a patient experiences a cerebral hemorrhage or intracranial hemorrhage, the first thing to do is not to move their body indiscriminately but rather to call 120 and wait for professional medical care to arrive.

Upon seeing such a patient, the first thing a doctor should do is stop the bleeding and reduce intracranial pressure. If there are blood clots inside the skull, it is best if the body can absorb them. If not, surgery is necessary.

Thus, Du Heng’s aim in using these two drugs was to mitigate this type of damage.

In just a minute, a nurse entered the ward with a set of disposable acupuncture needles. Seeing the equipment had arrived, Du Heng no longer hesitated. He rolled up his sleeves and began the treatment.

The first method he chose involved using a three-edged needle to heavily prick the ten diffusing points, the Twelve Well Points, and the feet toe tips, aiming to stimulate the peripheral nerves and relieve brain pressure.
