This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Du Heng pointed to the consultation room nearby and said, ”How about this? Let’s go to the consultation room, sit down, and talk slowly. Let me understand what’s going on, alright?

”If it’s my mistake or the hospital’s, we will certainly admit it and actively offer compensation.

”If it’s not our mistake, then we’ll actively investigate the cause to find the real problem.

”After all, we’re standing in this corridor. No matter how fiercely you scold me, if we don’t clarify the issue, the problem won’t truly be solved.”

Doctor Ma, who had emerged upon hearing the commotion, had already subtly positioned himself between Du Heng and the woman. Hearing Du Heng’s words, he also quickly advised in a soft voice, ”Madam, let’s go to the office. We can calmly explain things there, and that’s how we can solve the problem.”

Even the young man beside the girl, who had been holding her arm, said quietly, with a hint of embarrassment, ”Honey, let’s go inside to talk. There are so many people out here.”

Doctor Ma’s words didn’t seem to affect the girl much. However, when she turned and saw her husband’s slightly pleading and embarrassed expression, her fierce expression softened slightly.

Indeed, this is a private matter. If I shout it out in front of all these people, my husband will completely lose face. A man lives for his reputation out in public, doesn’t he?

Though the girl had mentally already decided to compromise, she still looked at Du Heng and Doctor Ma and asked, ”Can you two actually make the decisions here?”

Doctor Ma quickly replied, ”This is Doctor Du Heng, the Dean of our hospital. I’m the head of the Chinese Medicine Department. We can both definitely make the decisions.”

The girl couldn’t help but take another look at them, particularly at Du Heng, studying him more seriously. Dean?

”Alright then, let’s discuss this properly. You must give us an explanation today.”

After saying this, the girl and her husband behind her walked into the consultation room first.

Doctor Ma let out a long sigh of relief and looked at Du Heng. ”Dean, are you alright?”

Du Heng rubbed his nose, saying with some vexation, ”They’re just papers, nothing serious.”

After speaking, Du Heng squatted down with Doctor Ma to pick up the inspection sheets scattered on the floor. ”Alright, let’s go in and see what this is all about.” Then, looking vexed and holding the inspection sheets, he walked into the consultation room.

”Madam, please tell me what happened,” Du Heng said, wanting to get the details as soon as they were seated in the consultation room.

Perhaps because the girl had vented most of her pent-up anger earlier, her tone wasn’t as aggressive now.

”My aunt recommended you, saying you could treat sterility and infertility, so we came to see you on June 1st, right here in this consultation room.”

Seeing the girl’s mood had softened, Du Heng relaxed a bit. ”I remember that. It did happen. I believe the diagnosis I gave your husband at the time was damp-heat sinking.”

The girl immediately nodded. ”That’s right. Other hospitals diagnosed him with oligospermia, but you diagnosed it as damp-heat sinking.

”Later, you also prescribed medicine, saying it would show results within a month.”

As she spoke, the girl became agitated again. ”We did exactly as you said and diligently took the medicine for a month. We were worried the effect wasn’t strong enough, so we even continued for another half month.

”But today, when we went for a check-up, my husband still has oligospermia. There’s been no change at all! Tell me, aren’t you a liar?”

No effect?

Du Heng lowered his head, retrieved the prescription from the papers he held, and examined it carefully. He frowned. There’s nothing wrong with it.

Puzzled, Du Heng looked at the young man. ”This shouldn’t be happening; the prescription is correct. Come, sit in front of me, and let me check you again.”

The girl waved her hand decisively and nudged her husband. ”Go on, sit down. Let him check. I want to see what he can find.”

The young man lowered his head and sat across from Du Heng. Du Heng wasted no words, immediately taking the young man’s pulse and examining his tongue coating.

However, after this examination, his frown deepened.

There’s no problem. My examination and diagnosis were correct, and the prescription was also correct.

Frowning, he immediately began to sift through the pile of inspection sheets. He eventually found two Western medicine reports and studied the various test values on them. Du Heng’s brow furrowed so deeply it almost formed a knot.

The girl was indeed correct; it was still oligospermia.

The diagnosis was correct, the prescription was correct, and the girl just said they took the medicine as required. So why haven’t the symptoms changed at all?

They’ve been taking this medicine for two months already, so why hasn’t this young man’s pulse changed?

Since there was no mistake in these aspects, it must be... Du Heng looked at the couple and asked, ”Did you get your medicine from our hospital?”

Hearing Du Heng’s question, the girl sneered. ”Heh, I knew you’d say something like that, claiming we got the medicine from somewhere else and that it wasn’t suitable.

”I was prepared for this. From the very first prescription you wrote, and for every refill after that, I got the medicine directly from the pharmacy window at your Municipal Maternal and Child Health Hospital.” As she spoke, the girl took a sharp step forward.

This step startled Doctor Ma, who immediately leaned forward, half-shielding Du Heng. Du Heng, however, remained calm and simply watched the girl.
