This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Torture her to death?

Du Heng’s lips curled into a disdainful smile; at the same time, he felt his Big Brother was exaggerating a bit.

As for Du Jun’s family, although they were shameless and lacked any sense of decency, they didn’t have the guts to actually kill someone.

On the other end of the phone, Du Ping might have guessed what Du Heng was thinking, so he repeated the current situation of Du Jun’s wife and their family’s attitude.

”You’re right, they don’t have the guts to kill her directly, but if this continues, Du Jun’s wife won’t be able to endure it.” Du Ping carefully recalled Du Jun’s wife’s condition. ”Oh, and when she drinks water, her body sweats as if a basin of water has been splashed on her. The sweat just pours out uncontrollably. I think for every dipper of water she drinks, she sweats out two dippers.”

Upon hearing this, Du Heng, who had been unconcerned, immediately became serious and asked for details about the sweating.

Sweat pouring out like oil?

Du Heng, holding his mobile phone, frowned tightly.

Sweating like oil is a sign seen in those nearing their end, when their bodies lose the ability to retain fluids. Honestly, in all his years as a doctor, he had never witnessed this phenomenon; he had only read about it in medical books.

Even when the Old Secretary of the Liang family passed away last year, he had only felt a slight sweat on him. That was because the Old Secretary had been tormented by illness until his energy was completely drained, and to a large extent, he had died from the pain, not from natural causes.

But from the descriptions in medical books and his own current understanding, he knew very well what ”sweat pouring out like oil” signified.

Perhaps, as his Big Brother said, if this woman continued to be tormented like this and didn’t receive timely treatment, her family might actually cause her death.

As for being possessed by something unclean, humph, Du Heng didn’t believe it at all.

However, the stars were already hanging high in the sky. It wasn’t appropriate to go at this hour. Besides, with Banxianer around, Du Jun’s family might not trust him or allow him to provide treatment.

After thinking for a moment, Du Heng said, ”I understand, Big Brother. I’ll come up early tomorrow morning.”

When Du Ping heard Du Heng wasn’t coming that night, his heart tightened slightly. ”You’re not coming tonight?”

Du Heng patiently explained, ”Big Brother, it’s the middle of the night. It wouldn’t be appropriate for me to show up at their door now saying I want to treat her, and they might not even trust me. Besides, doctors don’t impose their services. They haven’t invited me or asked for my help. If I just show up offering treatment, knowing Du Jun’s family, they might just kick me out. It’s better for me to go tomorrow morning, using the excuse of visiting his wife. I can assess the situation then and decide what to do.”

Hearing the logic in his younger brother’s words, Du Ping sighed and agreed.

After hanging up the phone, Du Heng was quickly surrounded by his colleagues from the Health Clinic. Although he didn’t drink alcohol, when others toasted him, he had to clink glasses, even if it was just with a soft drink.

Moreover, tonight’s meal wasn’t just for catching up with old colleagues; more importantly, it was to introduce Qiu Pingzhen to them and also to soothe the emotions of certain individuals.

After the dinner ended and he was back in his car, Du Heng sighed softly. He didn’t know when even sharing a meal with old colleagues had become so utilitarian.

Shaking his head lightly to dispel the sudden thoughts, Du Heng drove home, planning to get a good night’s sleep before going up the mountain in the morning to see if it truly was a case of sweat pouring out like oil.

With so much on his mind, he couldn’t sleep soundly. He tossed and turned all night, his mind filled with related thoughts. Before dawn the next day, he was wide awake. Since he was wide awake, he decided against trying to sleep anymore. After washing up and getting ready, Du Heng went out to eat a large beef steak, and then drove first to the Health Clinic.

”Secretary Lu, I had something to attend to last night and wasn’t here. I made a special trip today just to hear you apologize to me,” Du Heng said jokingly as he entered the hospital room and looked at Lu Zhongjiang.

Lu Zhongjiang’s complexion, frankly, was much worse than yesterday. His cheeks were even more sunken, and his whole body seemed to exude weakness.

However, looking into his eyes, one could see that Lu Zhongjiang’s gaze was brighter than yesterday. Furthermore, his previously dull skin tone seemed to have a little more radiance today.

The most obvious change was his lips. The bluish-black color had visibly faded a bit, becoming slightly flushed with a hint of blood.

Lu Zhongjiang smiled, a comfortable, genuine smile, not the forced one from yesterday. There was also less discomfort and pain in it.

”I’m sorry, Lu. I, Old Lu, sincerely apologize. I underestimated your skills, Dean Du.”

Du Heng chuckled happily, looking genuinely pleased. ”As long as you realize your mistake, I accept your apology.”

As he spoke, Du Heng gently took Lu Zhongjiang’s wrist, performing a pulse diagnosis while saying, ”Since you’re already seeing results, just relax, listen to Dr. Yu’s instructions, and take your medicine on time. Within half a month at most, I guarantee you’ll be able to return to work.”

Lu Zhongjiang grinned. ”I don’t dare hope to return to work. As long as I don’t burden my daughter and son-in-law, don’t make my Old Partner worry, and suffer a little less myself, I’ll be very satisfied.”

Du Heng feigned annoyance. ”What are you talking about? Let me tell you, I’ve arranged for a new dean for the Health Clinic, someone who can be considered my trusted aide. However, this person has never independently managed affairs, so I’ll need you to teach him well, just like you taught me before.”
