This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

But that President Du—he only prescribed one course of medicine. Today is the fourth day since the patient started taking it. Do you all know the patient’s current condition?

Zhang Yongjun deliberately paused here. Seeing the confusion and annoyance in his colleagues’ eyes, he couldn’t help but smile smugly.

He slowly took a sip from the teacup in his hand before leisurely continuing, ”During the patient’s Check-up This morning, the liver area was no longer painful or swollen. The person who previously couldn’t eat anything had a small bowl of porridge This morning and ate two vegetarian buns.

You have to understand, just three days ago, it was determined the patient needed a liver transplant to survive. But three days later, he’s fine.”

He clicked his tongue twice as he spoke, ”Do you know? President Du bet Professor Wang back then that there would be results in four days. If there weren’t, he was willing to host a ten-table banquet at the Jinzhou Hotel for Professor Wang, kowtow, and apologize.

Sigh, what a pity. Professor Wang knew he had lost on the very first day and immediately fled by airplane.

Thinking back to when Professor Wang arrogantly claimed that we traditional Chinese medicine practitioners were incompetent, it truly disgusted me. I was actually hoping to use this chance to see him looking disgruntled, but the man didn’t even give me the opportunity.”

As Zhang Yongjun spoke, he glanced at certain individuals present, his eyes filled with unmistakable triumph.

And those he looked at, of course, knew Zhang Yongjun was using the topic to make pointed remarks, indirectly criticizing them, but they could only endure it.

”Look at Zhang, that gloating, petty man. It’s so infuriating.”

”That expression on his face, so smug! Anyone who didn’t know better would think he was the one who cured the patient.”

”I really want to slap him twice.”

A few of them were annoyed but couldn’t do anything to Zhang Yongjun. However, they could still vent their displeasure in hushed tones.

Unexpectedly, someone nearby interjected, ”Heh, Zhang loves it when you’re like this—annoyed with him but unable to do anything. The more you secretly badmouth him like this, the happier he gets. Look, he’s grinning so wide even his back molars are showing!

If I were you, I wouldn’t just be whispering here. I’d go right up and slap him a couple of times, make him wipe that outrageous expression off his face.”

The group immediately rolled their eyes. ”You shut up!”

”Stop gloating over our misfortune!”

”Be careful, it might be you next time.”

But the speaker completely ignored their threats. ”Nevermind. I have no objections to Zhang or traditional Chinese medicine. Besides, I’m not like certain people who, upon seeing a great expert from the Southern region, can’t wait to practically shine their shoes.”

This remark instantly infuriated them. Regardless of being in a conference room, they shot up, eyebrows raised, and shouted, ”Song! What do you mean by that? Speak clearly!”

”You can eat whatever you want, but you can’t just say whatever you want!”

Their sudden outburst startled everyone in the conference room. All eyes turned towards them. They had initially thought the main stir was Zhang Yongjun and his group of traditional Chinese medicine practitioners having their moment, but it turned out the real commotion was elsewhere.

But the man called Song wasn’t the least bit intimidated by them. With a curl of his lip, he said, ”I didn’t say anything specific. I just heard that when Professor Wang was criticizing Director Zhang and the others, some people showed no regard for their colleagues’ dignity and were quite the bootlickers.

I just wonder why Professor Wang, who left, didn’t take these loyal followers of his with him?”

”You’re bullying us too much!”

”Song, you’ve gone too far!”

”Have I gone too far? When certain people were slandering their colleagues and suppressing traditional Chinese medicine, why didn’t they think that was going too far?”

Clutching his teacup, Song didn’t yield an inch, every word of his carrying a sting.

Everyone in the conference room looked towards Song with great interest, all of them enjoying the drama and not minding if things escalated.

Just as the situation was about to spiral out of control, the Dean sitting at the very front, his face darkening, snapped, ”What’s all this shouting? Haven’t you made enough of a scene?”
