This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Especially for those with an abscess within their body, this situation is even more evident. No matter what type of cancer you have, as long as you can still eat, no matter how severe the pain, once it passes, the person is generally okay. But if a cancer patient says they can no longer eat, that means the end is near.”

Yu Haiting’s eyes lit up for a moment, and he hurriedly said, ”Secretary Lu still ate a little at noon. Is there still hope?”

”Yes, although he didn’t eat much, as long as he can still eat, he can still be saved.” Du Heng’s face became serious. ”Fortunately, Secretary Lu hasn’t received other treatments, and the depletion of his original qi isn’t beyond cure. So even if he has no stomach qi now, I can still save him.”

Seeing Du Heng’s confident expression again, Yu Haiting’s heart steadied. After nearly a year of cooperation, he knew how powerful the confidence Du Heng exuded with such an expression was.

”Dean, what should we do now?”

”Help me contact Secretary Lu’s daughter. I need to have a serious talk with her.”

”Alright, I’ll contact her now.”

Yu Haiting left hurriedly, and half an hour later, he returned just as quickly with a woman.

Du Heng had met this woman once before; she was Lu Zhongjiang’s daughter, thirty-five years old, named Lu Qiaoer.

Du Heng stood up and greeted her. ”Sister Lu, you came quickly.”

”Hello, President Du. Dean Yu has already told me about it, and I have no problem with it. My husband has already taken care of my dad’s discharge paperwork at the tumor hospital. You can treat him however you see fit here.”

Lu Qiaoer went straight to the point. ”I understand my father’s temper. Once he’s made a decision, no one can change his mind; otherwise, he wouldn’t have languished in his office position until now. Instead of him wasting away in the tumor hospital, enduring all that pain, we’d rather take a gamble. Besides, President Du, I’ve heard about your skills from my father. Ever since he was transferred to the Health Clinic, your name has been a constant topic at our dinner table. He always mentions your achievements to motivate my husband and me. So, if you treat my father, I believe he would definitely agree, and we trust you.”

Du Heng took a deep breath. He had heard from Lu Zhongjiang that Lu Qiaoer was decisive, but he hadn’t expected her to be *this* straightforward. He was still a bit stunned after she had finished speaking so quickly and directly.

After a two-second pause, Du Heng said, ”Alright, then let me explain the treatment process to you. Secretary Lu’s current situation is a bit dangerous, so my treatment method is to first support his stomach qi, adding only a minimal amount of medicine to clear pus and detoxify. This way, his vital qi won’t be harmed, and the fire toxin can be expelled. During this process, Secretary Lu will experience pus and blood in his stools. As family members providing nursing care, you shouldn’t be surprised, and most importantly, do not startle or upset Secretary Lu himself. Also, during the first three days of treatment, family members must always be with Secretary Lu. This is because during the process of purging pus, detoxifying, and reducing fire, the patient will experience significant physical discomfort and mental fatigue. You need to show more care, communicate frequently, and help the patient maintain a positive mindset. After the first three days, you can attend to your own affairs. Our Health Clinic has specialized nursing staff who can take over his care then.”

Lu Qiaoer wasn’t sure if she had understood everything, but she nodded readily. ”Doctor Du, please make the arrangements. I will definitely follow your instructions.”

Du Heng nodded and continued, ”There’s one more thing I’ll need you to take care of personally.”

”Doctor Du, just tell me.”

”I’m planning to use two main ingredients in the prescription. One is honeysuckle; it not only detoxifies but also nourishes yin, making it very effective for fire toxin abscesses. However, we have this medicine in our Pharmacy, so you don’t need to worry about that one. The other main ingredient is goat blood, and specifically, I need goat blood that has been roasted dry and ground into a powder.”

Du Heng looked seriously at Lu Qiaoer. ”Please don’t think I’m deliberately trying to make things difficult for you, nor misunderstand and think I’m prescribing recklessly. Goat blood is crucial because it has hemostatic effects, treats diabetes insipidus, and promotes qi circulation. When used as a guiding medicine, it can easily direct the qi of the other medicinal components into the core of the abscess, accelerating the dissipation of the fire toxin. Also, while I don’t need a large quantity of goat blood, drying and grinding it into powder means a significant yield from one goat. If we were to procure it, we’d have to charge you for the entire goat, which wouldn’t be appropriate. It’s better if you buy a goat yourself, provide us with the blood, and you can keep the meat. That way, it’s a win-win.”

Lu Qiaoer agreed without hesitation. ”President Du, you don’t need to explain all this to me. I don’t really understand the technical details anyway. Just proceed with your methods; I trust you. But can you help me find a source? I don’t know where to buy a goat right now.”

Du Heng thought for a while. ”Alright, let me ask around for you.”

He immediately picked up his phone and called Du Ping. ”Big brother, are you home?”

”No, I’m still busy. What is it? Tell me quickly.”

”Well, I need to buy a goat. Does anyone in the village have one?”

”Liang Lihai’s family has them. When do you need it? I’ll send it over when I’m done.”

”I need it now.”

”Then you’ll have to go get it yourself. I’m really busy right now.”

With that, he hung up, not bothering to explain what he was so busy with.

However, that wasn’t important; Du Heng had found out what he needed to know.

After putting away his phone, Du Heng said to Lu Qiaoer, ”Let’s go. I’ll accompany you. Someone in our village raises them.”

Lu Qiaoer nodded and immediately turned to leave, startling Du Heng once again with her decisiveness.

But Du Heng didn’t dwell on it. He picked up his things, said a few words to Yu Haiting, and then drove off.

When they arrived at Du Ping’s place, Du Heng was a little surprised to find his elder brother wasn’t home, and strangely, Du Heng couldn’t get a signal on his phone there. Left with no other option, Du Heng went to Liang Lihai’s house, but Liang Lihai wasn’t there either; only his mother was home. When Du Heng asked where Liang Lihai was, the old woman said she didn’t know, and calls to Liang Lihai’s phone went unanswered.

”Auntie, we’re in a hurry to get a goat. Could you perhaps sell one to us directly?”

”I can’t make that decision. You’ll have to wait for Li Hai to come back.”

Du Heng helplessly scratched his head. He couldn’t very well drag a goat away by force if she wouldn’t sell it.

What a strange day. Not only was there hardly anyone in the village, but phone calls weren’t connecting either. He didn’t even know who else to ask about buying a goat.

Du Heng apologized, ”Sister Lu, I’m very sorry. I don’t know what’s happening today. I’m afraid I’ll have to ask you to wait a while.”

Lu Qiaoer shook her head. ”It’s alright, I’m not in a rush. My father’s illness isn’t so critical that a brief delay will make a difference; waiting a little longer is fine. Isn’t there a saying, ’Good things come to those who wait’? Perhaps these little setbacks mean my father is destined to make a full recovery.”

Hearing Lu Qiaoer’s attempt to find comfort in adversity, Du Heng wasn’t sure how to respond. He could only return to his own house to wait for everyone else to come back.

And so they waited. The sun eventually set in the west, and the bright moon rose in the east.

Seeing his elder brother finally walk in, looking disheveled and covered in dust, Du Heng couldn’t help but ask curiously, ”Big brother, did you get into a fight?”
