This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

However, the two brothers exchanged just a glance before tacitly turning around and heading towards their cars. Whatever happened next had nothing to do with them, so they didn’t care whether they fought or not.

Three people and three cars—it was quite luxurious.

Du Heng had initially wanted Du Ping to stop driving that third-hand car. He planned to buy his brother a new, bigger one once they reached the city. After all, Du Ping would be a small boss soon, and a decent car would give him some standing, wouldn’t it?

But as soon as Du Heng proposed the idea, Du Ping scolded him harshly, saying he had money burning a hole in his pocket and calling him a ”show-off.”

Du Heng felt helpless and could only go along with his Big brother’s wishes.

After accompanying his Big brother home and then to the pharmacy, Du Heng handed him over to his Sister-in-law and promptly left.

For every extra minute he spent with Du Ping, he endured another minute of scolding.

Du Heng understood this was just his Big brother feeling frustrated and upset about leaving the home he had lived in for forty years.

But let him be frustrated, Du Heng thought. After a while, he’ll adapt, and it won’t be a problem anymore, just like Sister-in-law. When she first arrived last month, she also felt all sorts of discomfort. Although she didn’t scold me, Du Xuejing and Du Yi certainly got their fair share of her temper. So for now, I’ll just let those two take the heat. Once they’ve absorbed most of Big brother’s frustration, it won’t be too late for me to step in.

Looking at the time, Du Heng wondered if he could pick Wu Shengnan up from work today. They had dinner together two days ago, and she hadn’t come home for the two days since.

He thought about calling her, but just as he picked up his phone, it rang. It was Doctor Ma. This surprised Du Heng; Doctor Ma had never called him before. At most, he would occasionally come to Du Heng’s office to ask something during work hours.

”Dean, there are two patients you’ve treated before who say they’re here for a follow-up.”

”Follow-up?” Du Heng was puzzled. ”What patients?”

”A young couple. They said they came to see you on June 1st, and now they’re looking for you for a follow-up.”

June 1st? That was a while ago, Du Heng thought, struggling to recall. But if patients have come for a follow-up, I should go back to the Hospital. ”Alright, tell them I’m on my way back. I’ll be there in twenty minutes.”

”Okay, Dean, I’ll let them know.” Doctor Ma suddenly lowered his voice. ”But Dean, this young couple... they don’t seem to be in a very good mood. Maybe reschedule?”

”Not in a good mood?” Du Heng paused, his hand hovering over the end call button. ”Have them wait. It’s fine.”

After that, Du Heng didn’t dwell on it and hung up.

He was quite confident in his skills. If they were in a bad mood, it was most likely their own problem and had nothing to do with his treatment.

With this thought, Du Heng quickly returned to the Hospital, changed his clothes, and went straight to the consultation room.

He had just reached the door of the consultation room, not even having stepped inside, when a girl sitting on a bench in the corridor rushed up to him. She threw a thick stack of inspection sheets in her hand directly at Du Heng’s face. ”Swindler! You quack!”

Du Heng was completely stunned. Caught off guard, the inspection sheets smacked him right in the face.

”Miss, you must have the wrong person,” Du Heng said, momentarily stunned. As the inspection sheets fluttered from his face to the floor, he frowned.

The girl looked extremely agitated, relentlessly shouting ”quack” and ”swindler.” If the young man beside her hadn’t been holding her back, Du Heng suspected she might have leaped at him and clawed his face.

”Wrong person? Isn’t your name Du Heng? Weren’t you the one on duty in the outpatient service on June 1st?” the girl demanded, pointing an accusing finger at him.

With that, she crouched down, sifted through the scattered inspection sheets, and pulled out a document. She jabbed a finger at the signature at the bottom. ”Look! Look here! Isn’t this your signature, Du Heng?”

”Me, mistake you for someone else? That’s rich! I think you just don’t want to admit it!”

As the girl continued to shout, her voice echoed through the outpatient service corridor, drowning out all other sounds.

Fortunately, there weren’t many people in the outpatient service at this hour, so it didn’t cause a massive spectacle. Still, the few patients and their families nearby had all gathered around, their faces alight with curiosity.

Du Heng took the document from the girl. It was a prescription receipt. Looking at the medicines listed on it, he immediately remembered.

”Yes, I wrote this prescription,” Du Heng confirmed, his voice calm as he tried to recall the details. ”If I remember correctly, the two of you came in together last time, didn’t you?”

”So, you remember now?” The girl sneered, glaring at Du Heng with hatred. ”I knew it! You act so high and mighty, figuring out my husband’s problem with just a few glances. Turns out you were just trying to swindle money from us! Did you think we’d be too embarrassed to come back and confront you? Did you think we’re easy to fool just because we’re young? Well, let me tell you, you thought wrong! You have to give me an explanation for this today!”

Looking at the girl, whose spittle flew as she raged, and then at the onlookers gathering ever closer, Du Heng took a deep breath. ”Miss, you’re right, I am the person you’re looking for. But I genuinely don’t understand what this is about. I just arrived and don’t know the situation. You’ve thrown things, pointed at me while cursing, and accused me of swindling. I’m truly a bit lost here.”
