I AM the Football Star

Chapter 592: Chapter 157: You Damn Well Should Have Let Him Play! (Part 3)

His idea wasn’t actually wrong.

Because Vincent’s assistant had never expressed his own genuine thoughts; he had always conveyed Vincent’s ideas.

This doesn’t prove he supports Vincent; it only proves Vincent is truly resolute in his decisions.

This might be Vincent’s only merit.

”I think Candreva can do it! He just wasn’t adapting yet in the last game,” the assistant said with a flicker in his eyes, gritting his teeth. ”Besides, when Drake went on later, he didn’t show anything impressive either.”

”In the next game, we have to win. Our attacking line must have the ability to score. In this regard, Drake is far inferior to Candreva! Really, Candreva can do it!”

Vincent’s face gradually relaxed. He made a decision!

But then he remembered the issues with Lu Yang and Morici.

”So, how should Lu Yang be arranged? Should he really start?” Vincent continued to ask.

The assistant spread his hands: ”Since even Italy is so dissatisfied with you, will putting Lu Yang on the field stop everyone from criticizing you?”

”Obviously not!”

”In that case, why not just go with your own wishes? I always believe that if our team plays according to your wishes, we’re sure to win.”

”The previous losses were just because the players didn’t fully execute your plans.”

The assistant’s words made Vincent delighted.

Yes, the Italian players are indeed not that great. If they could fulfill the tactical demands one hundred percent, how could the team have ended up here today?

What?

You want to know what Vincent’s tactical demands are?

It’s simple!

Score while preventing the opponent from scoring! Or, simply score more than the opponent!

Isn’t that a surefire way to win?

This could even maintain a one hundred percent win rate, right?

So, on the morning of November 24th, the day of the second leg of Italy’s playoff, the day of Italy’s life-or-death battle, Vincent announced his roster.

Lu Yang and Morici were still included in the eighteen-man roster.

But...

Lu Yang and Morici were still left out of the eleven-man starting lineup.

At this point, the Italian fans couldn’t hold back any longer.

Everyone was cursing the stubborn Vincent.

Some fans even immediately began preparing banners to curse Vincent.

But it was all too late; Vincent’s starting lineup was clearly not going to change.

Reportedly, this lineup also caused discord within the Italy National Team.

Bernulin found Vincent on the sidelines during training while keeping his form, and subsequently, he and Vincent had a heated argument.

”You can’t do this to Lu! You’re ignoring his goal-scoring talent!” Bernulin’s voice was very loud.

”I never believe in so-called goal-scoring talent! I only believe in my tactics!” Vincent scoffed at the talent theory.

”What the hell kind of tactics do you have? All you do is blow hot air!” In a fit of emotion, Bernulin blurted out his true feelings.

This led to a violent conflict.

In their emotional state, the two nearly came to blows.

If Audi and Praxedes hadn’t rushed over in time, Vincent would have definitely gotten hit.

The fists of professional players are something a regular head coach really can’t withstand.

After the dispute ended, several players in the team were discussing with each other.

”Isn’t this wild? Bernulin is such a nice guy; he almost never curses people, even when directing the defense, he’s always mild-mannered.” Orma Perotti expressed his shock.

He’s a substitute midfielder for the team and also a core midfielder for Sampdoria.

Even though Sampdoria regretfully got relegated last season, the Samp sailors have two national team players.

One is their number ten, midfielder Perotti, and the other is their number nine, the veteran central forward, Demon Blade Quagliarella Farella!

”Lu is indeed excellent. If you played with him last season, you’d understand Bernulin.” Chiavich, the main central defender for Juventus, spoke up.

He’s been friends with Bernulin for many years, fondly referred to as the Two Elders of the Dark by fans.

He’s two to three years younger than Bernulin and currently the defensive leader of Juventus.

But when Bernulin was there, Bernulin was the leader.

Chiavich often chatted with Bernulin, and in Bernulin’s words, Lu Yang was truly an outstanding player.

Not just in offense and defense, not just in playing, Lu Yang is mature and impressive in taking care of teammates, handling internal conflicts, communicating with the coaching staff and management, and even helping the team develop in China, advancing Chinese football in all aspects.

Bernulin had only been teammates with Lu Yang for half a season, yet he was already willing to speak up for Lu Yang’s playing time in the national team.

This was something the usually steady Bernulin would almost never do before.

”Anyway, I think if he plays, we’ll at least score more goals.” Ameluci was a player thoroughly impressed by Lu Yang and unconditionally supported Lu Yang’s participation. ”Moreover... Lu Yang has played central defender, defensive midfielder, and attacking midfielder; he has very strong adaptability.”

Upon hearing this, Candreva, standing nearby, felt awkward.

This implication was clearly saying that letting Candreva play defensive midfielder would be less effective than letting Lu Yang play it.

Moreover, Morici is said to be Maniero’s designated successor. Letting Morici play as an organizing midfielder might be more effective than Candreva.
