I AM the Football Star

This is the most exciting press conference I’ve ever been part of in this lifetime.

Compared to those where hundreds are called but nothing substantial is revealed, Martivini’s was packed with real content.

First, he launched an attack on UEFA, strongly defending his Serie B team.

Then he unveiled a groundbreaking new technology that shook the world of football and will be used in the lower-tier league this season and rolled out in Serie A next season.

Unbelievable!

This is clearly saying, UEFA, no matter what you think, we’ve already taken the lead in Serie A.

I’ll start first; join in if you wish.

The thing is, once you start, how can UEFA just ignore it?

At this point, anyone not getting on board is clearly playing tricks.

It’s clear who the real gamblers are!

In a few years, global leagues might follow suit.

Otherwise, how can the house run if it’s all a farce?

Reporter: ”Who provided this technology?”

Martivini: ”It’s Chinese technology, part of our collaboration with the Chinese side. The Italian Football Association will get the lowest usage price of this system!”

Reporter: ”Did UEFA know about this news beforehand?”

Martivini: ”That’s not important. What matters is that the Italian Football League will be using this technology. This is an adjustment within Italian football, not related to UEFA.”

”We’re not going to demand that UEFA must use this system in the Champions League and UEFA Europa League.”

”Of course, I believe UEFA will actively use this system. Otherwise...”

Martivini began stirring things up, totally cheeky.

The picture of a villain enjoying success is exactly what he looks like now.

Reporter: ”Does the application of this system relate to the penalty in the San Remo match?”

Martivini: ”There is no connection between the two. However, of course, we hope that European competitions, known for their high-standard matches, as well as major European leagues, will strive to minimize unjust incidents.

”Let football belong to football, and let the outcomes of matches belong to the sport, not the whistle!”

Reporter: ”But won’t this technology greatly infringe upon the main referee’s authority? They’ll even be watching videos like spectators during major decisions! Do you think referees will agree?”

Martivini: ”I never believed that main referees have so-called authority! Their authority is equivalent to their salary, and correspondingly, they should serve football and the players on the field!

”Referees are not managers; they should be service providers! UEFA is the same way!”

Bang!

In a certain high-end villa area, a TV was smashed to pieces.

The owner of this villa is Mr. Nariko, the head of the UEFA Refereeing Committee.

One news article after another flew to all corners of the world.

For a moment, previous Champions League and Europa League matches lost their allure.

After all, the introduction of VAR could very well be a milestone in football history.

Once again, without noticing, we’re witnessing history!

According to multiple media reports, within half a day after the press conference, the UEFA president flew directly to Italy to meet with Martivini.

Afterwards, professional teams from UEFA and the Italian Football Association held several rounds of negotiations in the conference room of a top hotel.

Notably, the Italian Football Association even invited two renowned Italian lawyers and a famous European lawyer to observe.

Their attitude speaks volumes.

The final result remains unknown for now.

Meanwhile, the date is already October 24th.

In fact, it’s been just three days since San Remo faced Zenit St. Petersburg.

But during these three days, the European football scene has exploded several times already.

As a result, on the 24th, the Serie B match’s eighth round, San Remo’s home game against traditional strong team Perugia is drawing attention comparable to last season’s Champions League final!

Not an exaggeration!

If anything, there could be even more interest!

Because for the Champions League final, fans of some teams that were out early or competed in the Europa League are not so interested.

But the effect of VAR in an actual match is something everyone wants to witness.

Is this technology mature?

Can it be directly applied in the matches?

Will it be seen in the Serie A league next year?

Be aware, goal-line technology, as mature as it is, took five years just to be officially discussed by FIFA, and ten years to decide on its implementation and promotion in the next World Cup.

If VAR shows the slightest technical immaturity, its deployment timeline might also approach a decade.

VAR cannot afford failure; if it doesn’t succeed this time and loses attention, it will never receive such extensive attention again. Even if it matures later, UEFA will still claim it hasn’t.
