I AM the Football Star

Chapter 397: Chapter 115: Summer Transfer Window Opens, Light of Asia

In fact, Luo Cheng was not the only one among domestic football media who noticed the player ”Lu.”

Chen Jun, the head of the current leading domestic football program ”World Football News,” also has such an excellent professional instinct.

But on the one hand, it’s still unknown which country this ”Lu” player is from.

Is he Korean?

Japanese?

Or Southeast Asian?

Or perhaps Chinese?

Or is he actually Italian, just of Asian descent?

In that case, is he of Korean descent? Japanese? Or Chinese?

There are still many questions to be clarified after this.

For example, is he an ABC, a banana person, with no real connection to the East at all? The development value of such a player is not high.

Whether he can’t speak Chinese, can speak a few words of Chinese, is fluent in Chinese, or has very Eastern thoughts, these are all very important to domestic fans.

If mishandled, it could backfire.

It might be better to just import foreign football stars; though domestic fans may lack a deep-seated sense of connection to them, they won’t hold them to our local standards either.

It’s essential to know that if foreign stars were judged according to domestic moral standards, almost every single one would fail, with few passing the ”quality” check.

The success of ”World Football News” lies in not forcing a connection between football stars and the domestic scene, as sometimes these connections can have the opposite effect.

This is their advantage in rising to prominence but also a potential disadvantage in the future when possibly overtaken by other domestic media.

Therefore, they did not focus on that ”Lu,” but instead, concentrated on completing their summer special project ”England’s European Youth Championship Journey.”

On the other hand, Luo Cheng’s partner, Tang Yuqin, was already contacting her foreign classmates.

Tang Yuqin was the girl with a significant background that Luo Cheng mentioned, and it was indeed true.

Otherwise, how could a senior student at Beijing Communication University become the predetermined host of a new program on the CCTV Sports Channel?

Tang Yuqin was one of the few girls domestically passionate about football, and her family had the means to support it. She valued this program very much and hoped to achieve something to show her elders.

To be honest, with her background, not driving to the Forbidden City for photos, not gathering for selecting consorts, not jumping into the entertainment circle for indulgence, she was indeed a well-behaved child.

So when she proposed to intern at the sports channel, her family was beyond pleased.

This was a million times better than being a ”rent renovator”!

”Hello, Katie, may I ask you something, do you know San Remo?” Tang Yuqin had many foreign friends because her family attended some quite high-end and elegant social events where relatives were also invited.

Many of her childhood friends formed connections this way.

But this also gave Tang Yuqin a sense of instability; her world felt too fleeting, not grounded, out of touch with the normal lives seen online.

This didn’t give her a sense of superiority but rather made her feel life was too void and lacked meaning and motivation.

It was only after she fell in love with football that her life finally found a footing.

Through it, she met a lot of ordinary people and finally saw the other side of the world.

Without football, she might have become one of those top socialites who didn’t understand the Spring Festival travel rush.

Why squeeze into trains and buses? Did the maintenance of the private jet at home just happen?

Football made her feel her real existence.

”Even you know about it!” On the other end of the line, Katie was very surprised, but quickly came to her senses, ”Indeed, Lu seems to be of Chinese descent, so it’s normal that you, as a Chinese, want to know him.”

Tang Yuqin was full of question marks?

Katie actually knew she wanted information about Lu?

”How did you know I was looking for Lu?” Tang Yuqin asked.

”Does that even need to be asked? Who else is there in San Remo but Lu? It can’t possibly be Morici you’re looking for,” Katie said, ”But are you planning to join your entertainment industry over there? I remember you said before that you didn’t like the entertainment industry environment.”

Tang Yuqin felt she and Katie were not in the same service zone: ”I don’t intend to join the entertainment industry; I’m a host on our country’s official TV station, preparing to host a football program, and am currently selecting topics.”

”My partner asked me to inquire about San Remo and Lu; he said this might be a good topic for our first episode.”

”What?” Katie was stunned, ”You’re looking for Lu to learn about football? Come on, I’ve heard many young models find Lu to take them to walk on the Cannes red carpet!”

”Cannes red carpet?” Tang Yuqin grew increasingly puzzled, isn’t this a football story?

”Yes! Lu was selected for the Cannes International Film Festival’s main competition unit for Best Screenplay. His and Sofia’s ’The Invisible Guest’ is the most anticipated movie in Cannes this year!” Katie said, ”If you’re not going to Cannes, can you ask Lu to bring me to walk the red carpet if you get in touch later?”

Going to Cannes isn’t hard; what’s hard is genuinely walking back on the red carpet.

Tang Yuqin felt her head was in a mess, needing time to sort out this complicated information, but eventually couldn’t resist asking: ”Are you sure the Lu we’re talking about is the same Lu Yang? I’m looking for a football player!”

Katie confirmed: ”Yes! San Remo’s Lu, who scored a hat-trick in the Italian Cup, defeating AC Milan led by my former dream boyfriend Izalelt.”
