I AM the Football Star

Chapter 381: Chapter 111: The Descent of the Son of God, We Are the Champions

At this moment, he was like the Son of God, wildly running on the green field.

”Oh my god!”

Countless fans exclaimed, whether they were fans of San Remo or AC Milan.

Nobody could remain calm after such a spectacular goal, especially since that goal carried such significant meaning!

”He’s like God’s child, his injury was unfortunate, yet he managed to deliver such a performance despite it, he’s so powerful and so lucky!”

”Italian Cup final, coming on as a substitute with injuries, a hat-trick, and a last-minute winner, every word is so exciting, witnessing it all as a fan is the luckiest moment of my life!”

”Today’s Lu Yang was indeed more outstanding than any player in AC Milan, even Izalelt was overshadowed by him!”

”Is this the kind of joy San Remo fans often experience? It does make one a bit envious!”

”If one day a miracle becomes a normal occurrence, then why can’t I accept San Remo defeating AC Milan? They are equally incredible!”

”San Remo deserves this Italian Cup, but don’t forget, we still have the Champions League!”

AC Milan fans generously offered applause to Lu Yang.

Including the players on the field from AC Milan, none of them harbored any complaints.

Because their opponent was indeed too... beyond human!

In the last three minutes of the game, San Remo’s front line was completely empty as they parked the bus at their goal.

And AC Milan repeatedly took long shots from outside the penalty area, trying to change the score again.

But unfortunately, San Remo players’ muscle wall refused to let it happen.

When Lu Yang booted the ball towards the midfield while fending off the furious Andrés, three whistles blew, the match ended.

Andrés instantly lost all motivation, one moment he was ”biting” with Lu Yang, the next he collapsed on the turf, his face numb.

He completely lost today!

He could brag without modesty that he single-handedly carried AC Milan to the Italian Cup final.

This season, he could have shared the cup tournaments’ glory with Izalelt.

Izalelt carried the team to the Champions League final, and he carried the team to the Italian Cup final, he was no less than anyone!

But now, everything became meaningless.

Because Andrés also found his team, humiliatingly trampled by San Remo.

He proved himself for a season, only to ultimately achieve San Remo’s grassroots miracle!

Just like how, originally after defeating San Remo, they could have reaped all the attention and glory San Remo had earned this season, the winner takes all, the loser loses everything.

Such is the cruelty of war.

And football, is war!

...

”Champions! Champions! San Remo are champions!”

”They’ve created a new fairy tale in World Football! They are the first lower-tier team ever to win the top domestic cup championship!”

”Grassroots miracle! A new football miracle is born in Italy!”

”Double winners! Another double winner is added to the history of Italian Football, and it’s the double winner from the lowest league tier! Let us congratulate them, congratulate San Remo!”

”Of course, this match leaves a sense of regret for AC Milan fans, they could have taken the trophy. Even in the first forty-five minutes of the match, they had already packed the trophy into their bags.”

”However, Lu Yang’s appearance changed everything, he scored three goals and provided one assist, completely dominating the match! His performance in this match was phenomenal!”

”Of course, the other San Remo players also performed superbly in this match, especially in the second half, they exhibited the kind of iron-blooded defense that’s gradually been losing in Serie A!”

”They had four players receiving yellow cards, they tackled four times more often than AC Milan! They ran ten thousand meters more than AC Milan throughout the match!”

”They are unquestionably the Italian Cup champions!”

The commentator began hyping up the narrative, he would say the same no matter who won the championship.

In fact, the main character of his script at the beginning was actually AC Milan.

In the stands, Martivini’s smile was almost reaching the heavens.

He originally just intended to cultivate a dark horse in the Italian Cup, making it to the fifth or sixth round would have been sufficient.

But unexpectedly, San Remo made it all the way to the final.

By reaching here, the commercial value of the Italian Cup that Martivini wanted to create was basically realized, all the sponsorships the Italian Cup should receive have been secured, sponsors attracted by the San Remo and AC Milan showdown wouldn’t withdraw based on who the champion is.

However, from a competitive standpoint, the meaning of San Remo winning the championship and AC Milan winning it, is vastly different.

If AC Milan won, the main theme in World Football wouldn’t change, after the match, everyone’s attention would return to where it was before.

Because people want to see something peculiar, and a strong team like AC Milan defeating a weak team to win the championship isn’t peculiar at all.

Just like how after Bayern’s nine consecutive league wins in the Bundesliga, probably no fans besides Bayern’s actually care who the Bundesliga champion is anymore.

Unless one day you told me, Bayern isn’t the champion, and even Dortmund isn’t the champion, then everyone’s attention regarding the Bundesliga championship would be drawn back.

Over-dominance will destroy the competition, matches without suspense aren’t interesting, this has always been one of the truths in sports competition.
