I AM the Football Star

Chapter 361: Chapter 106: The Closing Stage—Who Is the True Hero? (Part 3)

How wonderful it sounds!

If the league assist leader is gone, calling out now would be miles apart.

You show off!

Little broken leg!

”Damn! You snatch even this? Are you even human? All my assists come from my own effort, you think like you just give a kick and it records as data?” Lu Yang admitted, he was nervous.

Sewer?

No such thing!

He’s just a bit obsessive compulsive, that’s all.

It has nothing to do with the tens of thousands of euros the team gives out as prizes for each award!

”Hehehe, gave you half a season, but unfortunately, you Lu are just lacking!” Morici laughed as he hung up the phone, feeling quite relieved.

But he overlooked one crucial point.

Which is... the importance of intelligence, sometimes even surpassing the war itself.

The Pearl Harbor incident with the US military is the best example.

If it really came down to a fight, little Japan would be hammered by the Statue of Liberty.

But intercepting one piece of information can lead to the destruction of the entire Pearl Harbor.

The power of intelligence is evident.

So, on the night before the final match of the forty-second round of the Italian Third Division on May 18th, all players of San Remo received Lu Yang’s secret message, which automatically deletes after reading.

Lu Yang requested all team members not to contribute to Morici’s assist stats, even if good opportunities arose after his passes, everyone should go for one more pass.

As long as Morici doesn’t get assists in this match, Lu Yang will distribute all his rewards for winning both the Golden Boot and assist leader in the Italian Third Division evenly among his teammates.

Bonuses in the Italian Third Division are minimal, nobody regards them.

But here in San Remo, there are team bonuses for league awards too, and Mr. Russell has made a generous gesture, totaling up to twenty thousand euros for the two awards together.

Divided up, each team member can get close to ten thousand euros.

What’s this concept?

Even Morici, with an annual salary of thirty thousand euros, this bonus far exceeds his weekly wage.

Who can refuse such an unexpected wealth?

Especially when it’s Brother Lu calling the shots.

Thus, in the forty-second round for San Remo, an interesting scene unfolded.

San Remo was leading by a large margin, but Morici surprisingly lost his temper at his teammates.

”Becher’s, why didn’t you shoot?”

”Bai Zhami, shoot for me, don’t pass!”

”Sogel, go for it, don’t hesitate! Don’t pass back!”

Under Morici’s desperate shouts, Versachi scored twice, bringing his individual league stats to eight goals and eight assists—sounds quite profitable.

However, these two goals had nothing to do with Morici.

Belletti scored a fierce goal, his individual stats reaching an impressive five goals and five assists!

He might be the third most efficient player in San Remo, only behind Lu Yang and Morici.

But this goal still had nothing to do with Morici.

Finally, the match ended, Morici scoring a goal, his personal stats fixed at ten goals and twenty-two assists, shaking the Italian Third Division!

To know, Morici missed two-fifths of the season, yet the data still reached 10+20.

If it were a full-attendance Morici, how strong would he be?

This is simply an assist version of Lu Yang!

Lu Yang missed the last four games of the season, yet his personal stats dominated the Italian Third Division, with forty-three goals and twenty-three assists, outshining Morici with more dominance!

This match infuriated Morici, intuition told him that someone was playing ”fixed matches”!

But unable to find any evidence, Momo could only swallow his grievances and enable Lu Yang’s ”double championship king myth”!

However, as mentioned earlier, after losing Lu Yang and having the championship already decided early, there was hardly anything to see in the Italian Third Division over the following month.

The fans’ focus was almost entirely on the culmination of events in competitions of various levels.

Serie A and the Italian Third Division practically ended back-to-back, with the final battle happening on May 19th.

Carrel succumbed to three points, failing to lead the Purple Lily to the coveted league championship, remaining dominant throughout his career yet still yearning for a title.

Juventus had a strong finish, coming back from a three-point deficit in four rounds, with their victory against Florence in a direct matchup being crucial.

Of course, this was also related to the enormous pressure on Florence during the later game schedules.

During those four rounds, Florence endured dual matches weekly, the whole team languishing led to losing two consecutive games, and being judged by three penalty kicks, was altogether somewhat peculiar.

AC Milan faced no pressure in the league, hopeless in the championship chase, securely in the top four, sitting leisurely in third place while preparing wholeheartedly for the Champions League final.

Rome was temporarily chased to a draw with Inter Milan at the end of the season.

Fortunately, Wolf King Perrotta returned from injury, stabilizing the situation.

Although Wolf King missed the Italian Cup semifinal, some believed that Rome undervalued the Italian Cup and San Remo, but in hindsight, this demonstrated the professionalism of Rome’s management team.

If Wolf King had played injured in the Italian Cup semifinal, who knows whether Rome could have made it to the final, but they would likely have faltered in the league.

When compared to the Champions League qualification, the Italian Cup simply isn’t as significant.

And the most unfortunate was Inter Milan.

At the start of the season, they seemed to have the ambition to accomplish something great this season, appearing as if they had the treble in hand.

Yet after a series of operations with the season perfectly two-thirds complete, they began to falter in all directions.

Champions League exit.

Italian Cup exit.

No hope for the league championship, even sliding out of the top four.
