I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

A simple meeting ended.

According to Ying’s rough estimate, there should be nearly one thousand to two thousand goblins living in this goblin ruin town in the distance.

During the time Gauss observed, there were also small hunting teams going out, catching fish and beasts to bring back to the town.

It’s evident that this is a goblin tribe showing signs of societal development.

This also explains why they targeted the dwarf Toga and captured her.

They need more iron weapons, whether for combat or hunting.

It feels like goblins are becoming smarter.

Gauss rubbed his temples.

Clearly, this goblin tribe is not very connected with the many forces of the demon kingdom further south, partly due to geographical reasons, and partly because if they received help from the demon kingdom, they should have mastered forging and smelting techniques from them.

This means the tribe in front of them likely formed spontaneously in this vast wasteland.

Then slowly expanded, increased in number, and built a camp until at some point their monster leader became dissatisfied with iron weapons obtained through looting or other means and decided to acquire their own forging techniques.

This was clearly not common in the past; otherwise, with the goblins’ breeding capability, the frequency of human towns facing crises would greatly increase.

The reason they could maintain stability was that many goblins fought independently. Without external forces bringing them together, it was often difficult for them to form large, singular communities.

But now, it seems that balance is beginning to break.

This is not good news for ordinary people.

Although this area is far from towns, in the short term it might not threaten humans, but as the goblin tribe develops, they will eventually move further, setting their sights on villages and even towns.

The goblin tribe in front must be eradicated.

Gauss thought silently to himself.

Unfortunately, the distance from the water body is too far; otherwise, he could have used water manipulation to create a flood to drown this town, of course assuming he found the target dwarf Toga.

Fireball Technique exploding on the ground would most likely fail to collapse the underground buildings, and at that time, with the entrance buried, killing the goblins inside would become even more troublesome.

Therefore, Gauss and his team plan to first take down the goblin scouts on the surface ruins without alarming most of the goblins in the underground buildings below.

This goblin tribe is quite vigilant.

Sentries are set up at various high points facing every direction, with about 50 goblins responsible for scouting on the ground. Any movement can be captured first, plus the area outside the town ruins is relatively open, making it difficult for an ordinary adventurer to approach the ruins quietly.

”Ying, Aaliyah, let’s begin.”

Gauss set off only with the more concealed Aaliyah, who could transform into animals.

As for the conspicuous Serdur and Albena, they temporarily stayed at the original position, and the four dwarves did the same. Although they are not tall, their bodies are broad, and their reactions are not agile enough, making them unsuitable to join the first wave of infiltration.

Soon, Ying transformed into a shadow, enveloping Gauss within it.

Aaliyah also transformed into a small, inconspicuous gray mouse, quickly running towards the ruins with her nimble short legs.

In the broken ruins, few traces of civilization could be seen.

”Boom!”

Inside the broken walls and rubble, a goblin dug out a sharp, shiny short blade from the collapsed debris, holding it high above its head. The blade reflected bright light under the sunlight, exciting it to shout joyously.

Such a sharp and fine blade is rare for a normal goblin.

However, what it didn’t notice was that its shout attracted the attention of several nearby goblins.

Upon discovering the beautiful short blade in its hand, their murky eyes gradually changed in expression, emitting a greedy desire.

They looked around twice, and upon finding no disturbances in the distance, swiftly jumped down a few steps from high points.

”Gah gah!”

They began to reach out to snatch the weapon from their companion’s hand.

While they got caught up in the struggle, a shadow on the ground slithered quickly like a snake.

And at a certain moment, several thin water threads suddenly floated out from the shadows.

”Splash!”

Following an extremely faint sound, a thin red ring appeared almost simultaneously around the necks of several goblins.

The seemingly inconspicuous thin water thread was indeed a deadly death line.

Two humanoid shadows dexterously caught the heads about to fall to the ground and then supported the headless corpses, handing them over to Gauss to store in the storage pouch.

Gauss and his team continued to replicate similar ”lure traps,” or Aaliyah transformed into a delicious ”prey” to lure goblins away from their posts, eliminate them, and clean up the scene.

They moved quickly.

The scouting forces on the ruins rapidly dwindled.

Until the final sentinel was killed, no accidents occurred.

The goblin scouts might have been taught by their leader how to stand watch, but don’t overestimate this group’s professional integrity. The greed ingrained in their bones makes this simple strategy work flawlessly.

Seeing a crow returning to report.

Serdur and others in the distance knew that Gauss and his team had cleared out the scouts on the surface perimeter.
