I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

Now staying at home, without needing to fight, she can save 5 gold coins every year.

She often feels proud of this.

Until she met the young-looking man in front of her, her mindset became somewhat unbalanced, and she couldn’t help but question if her decision was right.

However, she did not dwell on it for long, realizing that Gauss was not an ordinary person; it’s difficult for a regular adventurer to reach his level.

People always subconsciously glorify the path not taken, but she’s different; she truly has been an adventurer.

Gauss finished filling out the form and submitted the information to the slightly perplexed receptionist in front of him.

”Thank you for your cooperation, Mr. Gauss. Please wait for further news.”

Gauss glanced at the receptionist’s face, feeling that she seemed to have been contemplating something serious.

”Alright, alright, it’s our turn now, human lad.”

A commotion sounded from behind.

Albena instinctively turned her head to look, but didn’t see anyone.

”Hey, giant woman, we’re here, where are you looking?”

A few dwarves shouted again, feeling inexplicably humiliated.

”Please go ahead.”

The dwarves’ voices were rude, but they didn’t physically confront, and since Gauss indeed took quite a while, knowing the dwarves’ straightforward nature, he didn’t react much.

He merely gestured for them to proceed.

”Thanks, lad.”

He and his companion were just seated to the side, reading a booklet about adventure groups given by the receptionist.

The group of dwarves were ahead, excitedly chatting about something.

Gauss didn’t purposely focus on them but vaguely heard words like ”companion,” ”missing,” ”rescue,” ”large reward,” and so knew they were likely there to issue a commission.

”Boom!”

”Can we use this for payment?”

A dull sound came from the direction of the counter.

Albena, especially sensitive to metallic sounds, instinctively looked up.

Soon, that dazzling bright silver deeply attracted her gaze.

”What’s wrong?”

Gauss noticed Albena tugging at his robe and looked curiously.

”Lord Gauss, it’s mithril!”

Albena’s tone was somewhat excited.

Mithril?

Gauss also looked in the direction she indicated.

”Oh?”

Recently, Albena was planning to create lightweight armor sets for everyone in the team, especially for Gauss.

But forging involves more than just skills; what’s more important is having the raw materials.

Equipment made from regular iron is undoubtedly too ordinary for Gauss now, so they need to incorporate some precious high-grade minerals like dark iron, mountain copper, mithril, and adamantite to enhance the quality.

Such rare materials are often priceless, immediately snatched up once they appear, controlled by adept dwarves and high-status human nobles.

”Is this silver?”

”Why don’t you take another look, young lady?”

The conversation continued at the other end of the counter.

”I need to hand it over to an appraiser for identification.”

”But even if this is a precious metal, you need to pay a guild commission for issuing a commission, Mr. Bruno.”

”Rest assured, I have plenty of money.”

The dwarf Bruno, with his full beard, looked very confident.

”Sorry to interrupt, dwarf friends.”

Gauss closed the booklet in his hand, stood up from his seat, and walked to the counter.

”I overheard you need strong adventurers to help rescue a missing companion, and this metal is the reward?”

Mithril is indeed a resource they need now and is difficult to buy with money.

More importantly, they can establish connections with these dwarves who seem to be rich.

”Hmm? That’s correct.” Dwarf Bruno nodded.

”If that’s the case, I might be able to lend you a hand.”

”You?” A few dwarves raised their heads and scrutinized him; he looked somewhat young, subconsciously worrying he couldn’t manage the task.

Rebecca, at the counter, hesitated. According to protocol, she should guide the commission issuance and team coordination; typically, Gauss shouldn’t bypass the guild to contact the issuer.

But hearing the dwarves doubt his strength, and with the goodwill developed from their brief contact earlier, she spoke up.

”Mr. Gauss’s strength is undoubtedly reliable.”

”Not long ago, he saved Gray Rock Town from an invasion war of tens of thousands of monsters.”

”Moreover, he has killed a strong extraordinary-class opponent.”

”Oh?”

Hearing the receptionist’s description, the dwarves’ impression of Gauss instantly changed, and their eyes lit up.

The dwarves always admire the strong, both showing appreciation and disdain directly.

”If you’re willing, that’s even better.”

”Shall we set out now?”

Receptionist Rebecca extended her hand.

”Ahem, Mr. Bruno, you should issue the commission here at the counter, and then I’ll accept it, right? Miss Rebecca.” Gauss turned to look at the counter.

He certainly wouldn’t make things difficult for the guild receptionist.

On one hand, it involves procedural legality; on the other, issuing commissions ensures protection for both sides.

”No problem.” Rebecca sighed in relief.

Soon, after Bruno submitted the documentation and commission information, Gauss accepted the commission on the spot.

Since he also needed to wait for application approval, and the large caravan his family followed should take some time to reach Farlim, he decided to take on this commission in the meantime, obtaining the urgently needed rare resources.

The group headed grandly towards the guild entrance.

Especially Bruno, the backbone of the four dwarves, who was exceedingly eager.

As he walked, he recounted the events to Gauss.

It turned out the missing dwarf was his fiancée, Toga, the strongest warrior in the dwarf team.

However, they had a dispute on the road, and when he calmed down to look for her, he only found traceable battle impacts from great sword slashes on the ground and blood left by monsters.

After searching the surroundings with no result, they concluded the terrible truth that Toga was captured.

They excel at forging, but finding clues or tracing companions is not their forte, so they traveled to Farlim to issue a commission and lavishly seek capable individuals.

Fortunately, many monster tribes covet dwarves’ forging skills and tend to capture rather than kill when encountering lone dwarves.

”We’ve delayed too long; we must act immediately.”

In the short term, dwarf Toga likely isn’t in life-threatening danger, but if time drags on, it cannot be certain.

”Mr. Bruno, don’t rush. Can you take us to the place where Toga fought?”
