I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

The sooner we prepare, the better.

Upon entering Gray Rock Town, Gauss hurriedly made his way to the plaza and entered the Adventurer’s Guild hall.

”I’m looking for President Abelhard, is he in?”

He directly asked a staff member he intercepted.

The staff member immediately recognized his identity and presumably Abelhard had given prior instructions. Upon hearing Gauss was looking for Abelhard, she didn’t delay and brought a superior to escort Gauss to the third floor.

”Sit.”

After reaching the third floor.

Abelhard, who had just put down the documents in his hand, gestured for the travel-weary duo to sit down.

He knew that Gauss was looking for him because he must have made a specific discovery in the Jade Forest.

”Look at this.”

Gauss took out the Memory Ball.

”We found their headquarters and recorded these scenes up close.”

”Many, many monsters; they are arming soldiers.”

As the scenes projected from the Memory Ball.

Abelhard also saw the sights that Gauss had witnessed at the time.

He couldn’t help but gasp.

Only because the number of monsters in the images exceeded his imagination.

When the projection ended, Gauss also drew from memory a map and outlined three routes.

These are highly likely to be the future attack routes of this tribe.

”Thank you, Gauss, your intelligence is crucial.”

Abelhard carefully stowed away the Memory Ball and hand-drawn map, expressing his gratitude solemnly.

”It seems this festival can’t be celebrated properly.”

He sighed.

Previously, they only knew of the monster gathering movements and roughly deduced that this monster tribe would launch attacks on several nearby towns, but they couldn’t confirm specific routes. But now it appears that Gray Rock Town has become one of their confirmed targets.

”I need to report this critical intelligence, please wait a moment.”

Abelhard pressed a handprint on a landscape painting next to the office, causing the wall to move and reveal a secret chamber inside.

After a short wait, Abelhard emerged from inside.

His hands were empty; it seemed he had already delivered the intelligence to the higher-ups.

”Will there be military support for Gray Rock Town?”

Gauss asked.

Abelhard nodded.

”According to the Kingdom’s Border Defense Ordinance, once a large-scale monster legion poses a clear threat to border towns, the nearest military fortresses and provincial capitals are obligated to send reinforcements immediately. Anvil Castle is the nearest military fortress, with a resident mixed battalion.”

”The commander there is Sir Belock, an experienced border veteran.”

”If there are no accidents, the garrison troops at Anvil Castle will support us at Gray Rock Town.”

”However, even with military support, the final outcome still depends on our own defensive power in Gray Rock Town.”

Abelhard took a deep breath.

”After all, resisting the demon army invasion is precisely the purpose of Gray Rock Town’s existence.”

Gauss listened, showing a thoughtful expression.

It seemed that, despite having collected intelligence that could prove the movements of the monster legion, it still might not lead to large-scale support.

Why?

After Abelhard decided to convene a meeting with the mayor and several captains to discuss strategies, Gauss decisively took his leave.

His role is that of an adventurer, not a decision-maker, and he was well aware of this, choosing not to participate in the related meetings.

He also needed to prepare for the impending war.

In this regard, his mood wasn’t too heavy at the moment, as, ultimately, with the presence of Hephaestus, even in the worst case of monsters breaching the city, he could still escape with his family and friends.

At the same time, he hoped within the next few days to thoroughly master the fourth-ring spell [Water Manipulation] to augment his combat capabilities.
