Reborn One Week Before the Apocalypse

Chapter 411: Chapter 401: Ah Bin

The flow of time between the Illusion World and the real world was different. Tang Mo had known this for a long time, so she wasn’t too worried about spending so much time in that world.

Sure enough, she had been in that world for over half a year, but after coming out, she discovered that only a month had passed in the real world.

Ordinarily, Tang Mo had made thorough arrangements before she left.

She had tasked the people of Wuxi Village with maintaining the Protective Shield, which was powered by their spiritual power. After all, that was an entire village of Spirit Attribute Superpower Users.

She had also left them several rings full of food and Crystal Cores as supplies. No matter how you looked at it, there was no way they shouldn’t have been able to last for a month.

But things went wrong when something unexpected happened. In the second week after Tang Mo left, an uninvited guest arrived.

The spiritual power here was incredibly strong, and the countless Spiritual Light Rings made the location impossible to miss. As a result, people would often risk their lives to approach it.

With the temperature dropping so rapidly, most ordinary people sought refuge with the nearest Spirit Attribute Superpower Users, making long-distance travel rare. Because of this, the Sect Leader of Wuxi Village decided to accept the few stragglers who arrived seeking shelter.

After all, Wuxi Village wasn’t also known as Holy Doctor Village for nothing. They were all soft-hearted people.

But things took a turn for the worse with the arrival of a man named Ah Bin, who was an incredibly powerful Spirit Attribute Superpower User.

He initially pretended to be a refugee to get inside the Protective Shield. Then, catching everyone off guard, he stole the rings Tang Mo had given the Sect Leader!

Those rings had always been carefully wrapped in the Sect Leader’s spiritual power, rendering them invisible. Ordinary people couldn’t even tell where they were, let alone steal them.

But to everyone’s surprise, Ah Bin was such a powerful Spirit Attribute Superpower User that he successfully located the rings and stole them.

Stealing the rings wasn’t enough for him. He had also figured out a bizarre way to use spiritual power: he could absorb the spiritual power from the Protective Shield and convert it into his own.

The energy from the Spiritual Light Rings of individual Spiritual Ability Users was too meager, so Ah Bin exclusively targeted the largest Protective Shield maintained by Wuxi Village.

Perhaps he wanted to draw it out for the long haul, or perhaps his body simply couldn’t handle so much spiritual power at once. In any case, Ah Bin only absorbed a fixed amount each day.

But with no food, no Crystal Cores to replenish their spiritual power, and a vampire-like figure constantly siphoning that very power away, the people of Wuxi Village had been living in unspeakable misery.

Yet, the Protective Shield was protecting far too many people. In the current weather, if the shield were to fail for even ten minutes, everyone inside would undoubtedly die. They had no choice but to let that demon leech their spiritual power.

When the food ran out, the people inside the shield had their complaints, but they knew deep down that no one was obligated to feed them. They owed their very survival to the people of Holy Doctor Village.

As they watched the people of Holy Doctor Village grow increasingly pale from spiritual power depletion, their bodies swaying on the verge of collapse, no one could bring themselves to utter a single word of blame.

Instead, everyone directed their fury toward that demon, Ah Bin.

But Ah Bin’s spiritual power was simply too immense. Other than Tang Mo, he was the only Spirit Attribute Superpower User capable of flight.

Tang Mo had not yet returned from the Illusion Realm, nor had Qin Ling. The other powerful superpower users couldn’t fly, rendering them useless in this situation. Meanwhile, the other Spirit Attribute Superpower Users lacked Ah Bin’s level of spiritual power. A few could barely manage to levitate, but none could move freely, let alone fight Ah Bin in mid-air.

So no one had the power to bring him down. He acted like an overlord, brazenly siphoning the Protective Shield’s spiritual power from high up in the sky.

These past days had been agonizing for the Sect Leader. He had already overdrawn his spiritual power, and on top of that, he had failed his benefactor, Tang Mo, and lost the crucial supplies. The guilt had been tormenting him daily.

Now that Tang Mo was finally back, he confessed everything, and a weight was finally lifted from his heart.

”It’s all my fault. I was too weak and I failed you.”

The Sect Leader apologized profusely. He truly hated his own weakness, which had allowed such a scoundrel to run rampant.

Tang Mo’s expression turned glacial.

”This has nothing to do with you. I’d like to see what gives him the right to be so arrogant. I’ll make him spit out everything he took from me, a hundred times over.”

The name Ah Bin sounded familiar to Tang Mo the moment she heard it, but she couldn’t immediately place it.

But after listening for a little longer, it seemed to click. ’I *have* met this man before!’

’Wasn’t Ah Bin that frail-looking man who was always with Lisa, the mixed-race woman I met in the desert?’

’Even back then, I sensed there was more to him. He had the reek of spiritual power, and it was potent.’

’Now that I think about it, it all adds up.’

’So he can fly, too. I’m very interested to see just who this character thinks he is.’

Tang Mo’s anger was reaching its boiling point. It had been a long time since she’d been this furious.

’No wonder I saw Mom carefully rationing the food today. So the base has been out of supplies for this long. And to think all my fully-stocked rings ended up just lining someone else’s pockets.’

”What time does he usually come?”

”Every evening at six.”

As if to deliberately humiliate them, Ah Bin would fly above the Protective Shield at six o’clock sharp every evening and brazenly feast on its spiritual power.

This time, however, things were not going to be so easy for him.

At six that evening, Tang Mo completely concealed her aura of spiritual power, hiding within the crowd to await Ah Bin’s arrival.

The Protective Shield extended high into the air, and the crowd below was vast. Hiding among them, Tang Mo was not at all conspicuous.

Besides, Ah Bin wasn’t very familiar with Tang Mo. He hadn’t been here when the Protective Shield was first created, so even if he’d heard her name, he didn’t think she was a big deal.

Furthermore, while he had been hiding inside the Protective Shield, he had made thorough inquiries and learned that there were currently no Spirit Attribute Superpower Users in the base who could fly. He considered them all nothing but trash.

At one minute past six, Ah Bin appeared above the Protective Shield, right on schedule.

The crowd inside the Protective Shield rose to their feet, shouting curses at the figure in the sky.

But the fouler their curses became, the more excited Ah Bin seemed, savoring their spiritual power with relish.

And amid this chorus of curses, Tang Mo swiftly ascended.

By the time Ah Bin looked down and saw Tang Mo, she was already less than five meters away from him.

When Ah Bin saw someone flying up toward him, his heart lurched. ’This is bad!’

Although he had never witnessed Tang Mo’s power firsthand, he knew the only person here who could fly was Tang Mo—who was supposed to have entered the Illusion Realm. Now, he feared she had returned.
