Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 99: Chapter 56 Harvest_1

Li Quan’an fell silent immediately. Even Sun Ruixing and Sun Aotian, standing nearby, didn’t make a sound.

”I think... I think...” Li Quan’an looked at Wen Yu’s indifferent eyes, hesitating for a moment before finally saying, ”Thank you.”

This simple phrase confirmed Li Quan’an’s choice. No matter what kind of monster one became, survival was the eternal, unchanging instinct of all living beings! No one wanted to die. It was just like when Li Quan’an had chosen to eat human flesh.

”Don’t mention it. It was your choice. Regardless of the decisions made to survive, they all deserve respect! Leave this place. Go anywhere, just get outside the borders of Mudanjiang City. I hope you can survive.” Wen Yu smiled at Li Quan’an, offering his blessing.

Li Quan’an nodded heavily, went straight into the room, packed a large backpack, and also took a police-issue automatic rifle and a small amount of ammunition. ”There are still some weapons in there; you can take them.” With that, Li Quan’an headed directly downstairs.

Watching Li Quan’an’s figure recede into the distance, Sun Ruixing heaved a heavy sigh of relief. Sun Aotian, however, asked hesitantly, ”Really? You just let him go?”

Wen Yu lit another cigarette. Li Quan’an’s earlier words had left his heart feeling somewhat heavy. He nodded. Seeing that Li Quan’an had already left the small building and was moving farther and farther away, Wen Yu replied, ”Yes, I let him go. We’ve interacted for quite a while, and he helped me a lot.”

”But... but if you let him go, he’ll still eat people!” Sun Aotian deeply sympathized with Li Quan’an’s predicament, but the thought that Li Quan’an would definitely continue to eat people made him cry out.

”That’s why I told him to get as far away as possible. As for these kinds of messy affairs, if I don’t see them, it’s as if they never happened. There’ll be plenty more of this crap later on; I won’t have the energy to deal with every single one!” Wen Yu said. ”Also, I said I’d let him go, and I meant it. If you dare to leave my sight today, I’ll kill you!”

Sun Aotian had just started to rise, intending to chase after Li Quan’an and deal with him, but Wen Yu’s words scared him into sitting back down. He stuttered, unable to utter a word.

Patting Sun Aotian on the shoulder, Wen Yu pointed to the room Li Quan’an had just exited. ”Instead of worrying about Li Quan’an, I think we should be more interested in what these Cannibals left for us!”

Hearing this, Sun Aotian’s eyes instantly lit up. These people had guns! Even I didn’t believe that what they initially showed us was all the weapons they possessed!

For a 16.7-year-old, attention wasn’t always focused. And for a young man his age, guns were far more captivating than Cannibals!

”Then I’ll go sort out these people first. Later, we can take them directly back to the camp,” Sun Ruixing said, giving Wen Yu a nod before leaving with the ”food” they had found in the area.

”Let’s go see what goodies we’ve got.” Wen Yu had barely finished speaking when Sun Aotian darted into the room, followed by his excited shouts, ”WAH! WAH!”

”Brother Wen Yu, come look! There are tons of guns in here!”

As Wen Yu walked into the small house, the scene inside unfolded before him. The first things that caught his eye were two corpses on the floor: one had been stabbed in the back with a steel saber, the other beheaded. Judging by their pale complexions, both were Cannibals. Li Quan’an must have killed them, Wen Yu surmised.

Next, there was a row of weapon racks. The ”many” weapons Sun Aotian had mentioned were, in reality, very few. Compared to the national materiel reserve warehouses Wen Yu had seen in his previous life, the armaments here were merely what a private collector might possess.

However, the weapons displayed here were quite sophisticated, all of them standard issue for the armed police in the country at that time: Type 77 pistols, Type 79 submachine guns, imitation M16 automatic rifles, and a large quantity of accompanying small-caliber bullets.

Wen Yu scoffed after a brief scan. These things are just toys for hunting rabbits in the future—and by rabbits, I mean creatures of Level 1 and below! Firearms need to be modified by specialized professionists and then transferred to Archer-class professionists to unleash their truly terrifying potential. Compared to the handguns wielded by professionists in my previous life, some of which packed the power of a Huge Cannon, these items truly aren’t worth my notice!

Casually picking up an automatic rifle, Wen Yu handled it skillfully. He fired two shots out the window, listened to the crisp report of the gun, and glanced at the bullet traces. Then, he tossed the ”toy” to the ground, shaking his head in disappointment. ”Pack them up; let’s take them all back.”

Sun Aotian, however, was ecstatic, exclaiming, ”WAHOO! This is so cool! I’ve always wanted to handle a real gun, and now I finally get to!”

Watching Sun Aotian, who seemed almost possessed as he enthusiastically slung guns over himself, Wen Yu felt a wave of exasperation. He decided to inspect the other items in the room.

The firearms occupied only one wall. On the opposite wall stood a display cabinet, and the items inside were the real prize this time.

Opening the transparent glass door of the cabinet, the first things Wen Yu picked up were three Level 1 magic crystals...

”These people were pathetically poor!” Wen Yu remarked casually. He knew that for these individuals, abandoned by the Stone Pillar—or, one might say, by the Dominator—the only way to obtain magic crystals was from the corpses of mutant beasts. To have managed to save three magic crystals likely meant these were leftovers from before they became Cannibals, things they hadn’t used up.

He set these few items aside, planning to give the magic crystals to Sun Ruixing later. After all, Sun Aotian and Sun Ruixing did most of the work in taking this small place; I merely took a stroll, Wen Yu thought.

Then, he noticed two small wooden boxes. He casually opened one. Inside, a small vial lay quietly.

Picking up the small, faintly red-glowing vial, the item’s attributes appeared in Wen Yu’s mind:

Berserk Potion (C-Class item): Upon consumption, physical attributes double for 10 minutes. After the effect ends, physical attributes are halved for one day. Effective only on beings Level 4 and below.

Hmm, the infamous ’suicide potion’ from my past life, Wen Yu mused. Most people wouldn’t dare use it, nor could they afford to. Its greatest application was in large-scale warfare! The effects were incredibly potent. If organized units of professionists drank the potion and charged enemy lines for just five minutes, the results would be terrifying!

He placed the potion directly into his space ring and then picked up the last box. Inside, a pointer, flashing with golden light, lay quietly.
