Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 73: Chapter 30: Da Fei and Little Sky_1

”Should we get Bai Xiao’an a basic healing potion?” Sun Ruixing asked with concern, looking at Bai Xiao’an’s sweat-drenched, youthful face.

”No, thank you, Big Brother Sun. I’m already so grateful that you’re willing to save my little brother!” Bai Feifei said with a sob, looking at Sun Ruixing with tear-filled eyes.

It had to be said, Bai Feifei was very pretty. Most importantly, Li Quan’an had kept her well, after all, Hualin Town wasn’t lacking in water resources.

Wen Yu watched Bai Feifei with interest. This woman, with her vulnerable expression and sobbing tone, is playing hard to get, leaving Sun Ruixing, the simpleton, completely stupefied.

Li Quan’an watched Bai Feifei’s performance with an embarrassed expression, then coughed heavily.

”Brother Sun, do you still have enough points?”

At this remark, Sun Ruixing’s expression immediately turned unnatural.

The few people present had already spent all their points before breaking out.

Sun Ruixing looked at Wen Yu, who had been keeping to himself by the fence, and hesitated before asking, ”Um, Brother Wen Yu, do you still have any points?”

”All used up,” Wen Yu rolled his eyes and replied irritably.

Are you kidding me? Spending money to save a stranger? Not many people would do that even before the apocalypse, alright?

”Well, Mayor Li...?” Sun Ruixing prompted.

This Sun Ruixing, he’s really taking this ’saving Bai Xiao’an’ business seriously.

Li Quan’an’s expression turned extremely sour; he understood that Bai Feifei had ”abandoned” him.

This damn bitch, Li Quan’an cursed inwardly. But in the current situation, I’m no longer the Mayor Li who could order everyone around.

”I’ve used up mine as well.” He gritted his teeth and spat out the words. Li Quan’an glanced at the few people present once more, then turned and walked out of Li Dalong’s room, his trusted followers close behind.

Sun Ruixing glanced at Wen Yu, who seemed indifferent to everything, then looked at the departing Li Quan’an. Gritting his teeth, he said to Bai Feifei, ”You guys wait here, I’ll go out for a bit.”

Bai Feifei’s eyes lit up. She stood up and sobbed at Sun Ruixing, ”Big Brother Sun, you don’t have to. Feifei truly can’t bear you treating me with such kindness.”

PFFT! Wen Yu couldn’t help but laugh. Damn, this is turning into a K-drama.

Suppressing his amusement, he walked out of Li Dalong’s ”pigpen.” Outside, Wen Yu lit a cigarette, took a deep drag, and only then managed to fully stifle his laughter.

Watching Sun Ruixing walk straight out of the camp, and then glancing at the ashen-faced Li Quan’an beside him, Wen Yu felt he would have laughed his guts out if not for the consideration of Bai Xiao’an lying on the bed nearby.

Sometimes, reality is more interesting than TV dramas.

”Brother Wen Yu, Brother Wen Yu! The boss and the others are back! I’ll take you to see them.” Before Wen Yu had even finished his cigarette, Li Dalong had rushed back, all flustered.

”By the way, I saw that guy from your group, the one with the shield, go out earlier. Any idea what he was up to?” Li Dalong asked, looking puzzled.

”Oh, him? He’s busy saving the world.”

With a faint, teasing tone, Wen Yu ignored Li Dalong’s questioning gaze and said directly, ”Let’s go. Take me to see your Big Brother Fei.”

”By the way, is Mayor Li coming?” Turning his head to look at Li Quan’an, who was smoking, Wen Yu asked directly.

”I’m going! Why wouldn’t I? You expect me to stay here and look after someone else’s woman?” Li Quan’an stomped out his cigarette butt and said resentfully.

With that, he and his men immediately followed Wen Yu, leaving only Bai Feifei and Bai Xiao’an behind.

In the center of the camp, inside a crude wooden hut.

This was the room of Zang Pengfei, the leader of this small encampment. It was also where all the high-ranking members held their meetings.

Today, this dilapidated room was receiving distinguished guests.

”Welcome, friends from Hualin Town! Please forgive our humble hospitality in this small place. I am Zang Pengfei, the current leader of this little outpost.”

When Wen Yu was the first to step into the room, the burly man at the head of the room immediately stood up, cupping his fists in greeting towards Wen Yu and Li Quan’an’s group behind him.

Wen Yu carefully observed Zang Pengfei.

He was in his thirties, the prime of a man’s physical strength. His body was as sturdy as a bear, and he had a full, thick beard. Although the F-Class protective suit he wore was old, it was intact, with no tears or missing pieces.

Particularly striking was a tattoo that snaked up from his neck all the way to his temple.

This man exuded a strong roguish, martial air.

Besides Zang Pengfei, four other people were seated in the room. The most conspicuous was a youth, about sixteen or seventeen years old, with narrowed eyes.

Because this person was wearing an E-Class protective suit!

After quickly scanning everyone in the room, Wen Yu nodded at Zang Pengfei and introduced himself, ”My name is Wen Yu, a Level 2 professionist.”

Hearing Wen Yu’s introduction, the sixteen or seventeen-year-old suddenly opened his eyes. He scanned Wen Yu up and down several times, then stood up, walked right in front of Wen Yu, tilted his chin up, stared intently into Wen Yu’s eyes, and declared arrogantly, ”Remember my name. I am Sun Aotian, also a Level 2 professionist. Perhaps you are worthy of me unleashing my full strength. I eagerly await our battle!”

After saying this, Sun Aotian, holding his head high like a proud gander, swaggered out of the room with an arrogant gait, not once looking back.

He left behind a roomful of people with looks of helpless exasperation and an atmosphere thick with goosebumps.

”Uh... what was that all about?” Wen Yu was dumbfounded by the sudden turn of events. He looked at Zang Pengfei, who was covering his face, then at the other three professionists who had their heads bowed in silence, and finally at the equally stunned Li Quan’an behind him. He then quietly asked Li Dalong, who was also behind him.

Li Dalong looked extremely embarrassed. He whispered to Wen Yu, ”Um, Brother Tian... he was a huge novel fan before the apocalypse. He might have read a few too many, if you know what I mean.”

”Oh...” Wen Yu had a sudden realization. No wonder! The kid is overflowing with chuunibyou vibes. Even his name is ridiculously over-the-top!

Seeing that everyone present was stunned into extreme awkwardness by Sun Aotian, Zang Pengfei couldn’t help but step in to smooth things over. ”Haha, my apologies for that, distinguished guests. That kid, Little Tian, he’s just got a pure and simple heart, that’s all. He’s actually a good person. Brother Wen Yu, please don’t take it to heart. Please, sit down, sit down. Xiao Wen, go make some tea.”

A young woman next to Li Quan’an immediately stood up and went to the back to prepare tea.

”Come, come, Brother Wen Yu, if you don’t mind, please sit next to me. I also want to ask you all about the situation outside.”

Zang Pengfei enthusiastically gestured for Wen Yu and the others to sit. With his efforts to ease the tension, the awkward atmosphere created by Sun Aotian gradually dissipated.
