Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 63: Chapter 20: Treasure Land_1

The entrance to the treasure land wasn’t large, only about the size of a soccer ball, and it flickered with an unsteady light.

”Go on, you first,” Wen Yu said, sweeping a glance at Li Quan’an. The threat in his words was unmistakable.

Li Quan’an gave a bitter laugh and reached out towards the treasure land.

Seeing Li Quan’an teleport inside, Wen Yu recalled Cyclops, who was outside, into the Soul Realm. After all, mutant creatures couldn’t enter the treasure land. He followed immediately, afraid Li Quan’an might try something inside.

The Dizziness from teleportation struck Wen Yu but vanished instantly. Li Quan’an, beside him, was still recovering from the disorientation, his eyes somewhat bewildered.

Wen Yu carefully surveyed the treasure land.

At the exit point into the treasure land, three paths branched out. From one of them, Wen Yu could clearly hear the hissing snarls of zombies.

”Tell me about this treasure land,” Wen Yu asked directly, seeing that Li Quan’an had fully recovered.

”Each of these three paths ends with a treasure chest. Each path is guarded by a few zombies, but they’re weak. When I discovered this treasure land, my physique points were only 3. I managed to clear two paths by myself. However, each person can only open one chest, so there are still treasure chests in the other two paths. The zombies on the left path have already been cleared out by me.”

Wen Yu looked at Li Quan’an skeptically. ”Then why didn’t you have your subordinates come in and open the treasure chests?”

As soon as the words left his mouth, Wen Yu realized he’d asked a foolish question. If there was an item in a treasure chest that could instantly boost someone’s strength, that person could just kill Li Quan’an and take over as leader. How satisfying would that be for them? Li Quan’an definitely wouldn’t dare to risk it.

Seeing Li Quan’an’s awkward smile, Wen Yu nodded in understanding.

”Let’s go. We’ll check the left passage first,” Wen Yu said, heading straight for it.

The passage wasn’t long, about a hundred meters. Since the zombies had already been cleared out, it took them only a few minutes to reach the treasure chest.

”This is it,” Li Quan’an said, looking at the wooden treasure chest in front of them, which was less than half a meter high.

”Are all three treasure chests the same?”

”They’re all this type of chest.”

”Mm,” Wen Yu acknowledged, then directly opened the treasure chest.

A flash of light burst from the treasure chest, followed by a POP! A tattered doll sprang out.

”AHAHAHA! Just kidding! AHAHAHA! Just kidding...”

A piercing shriek echoed in his ears before Wen Yu smashed the rag doll to pieces with a single punch.

”Damn it!” Wen Yu didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. He couldn’t believe his luck was this bad—opening a treasure chest only to get a prank.

”Mayor Li, go out and find a professionist to open the remaining treasure chest. I’ll go to it and wait for you there,” Wen Yu said to Li Quan’an.

Li Quan’an hesitated for a moment, then immediately headed back the way they came.

With Wen Yu present, the contents of the remaining treasure chest would undoubtedly be his. Li Quan’an couldn’t resist, nor did he dare to.

Watching Li Quan’an gradually recede into the distance, Wen Yu tentatively opened his 2nd Soul Realm.

A purple light flashed, and Cyclops’s massive form appeared within the treasure land.

This was just a small experiment by Wen Yu. It proved that although Cyclops couldn’t enter the treasure land through its main entrance, it could still manifest there using the power of the Soul Realm space.

Cyclops looked around its new surroundings with confusion. The passage was somewhat cramped for its large frame, making it feel a bit stifled.

”Go, clear out the remaining zombies,” Wen Yu ordered Cyclops.

ARF! ARF! ARF! Boss, I do tasks for you, and you don’t even give me Soul Crystals to eat, Cyclops grumbled internally.

Wen Yu kicked Cyclops and said with a laugh, ”You damn dog, hurry up! I’m doing this for your own good.”

Seeing Cyclops trot off eagerly, Wen Yu followed at a leisurely pace.

By the time Wen Yu entered the right-hand passage, Cyclops had already wiped out all the zombies within.

However, there were no signs of gnawing on the corpses on the ground. This damn dog, it’s even learned to be a picky eater, Wen Yu thought.

The sound of footsteps approached from behind. A short while later, Li Quan’an arrived, leading his trusted subordinate.

”Brother Wen Yu, you certainly are fast,” Li Quan’an said, forcing a smile as he looked fearfully at Cyclops’s massive figure.

There were only three of them in this treasure land. Li Quan’an knew he had to be extremely cautious with every word and action, because here, his life had absolutely no guarantee of safety.

Wen Yu nodded and looked at the person beside Li Quan’an.

This was a professionist with 3 physique points. In Wen Yu’s eyes, his combat ability was virtually non-existent.

Without bothering to ask the man’s name, Wen Yu jerked his chin at him. ”Go on, open that treasure chest, and then give me whatever’s inside.”

The man nodded at Wen Yu and immediately stepped forward to open the treasure chest.

A light flashed, and a scroll appeared at the bottom of the chest.

A complex expression flickered in the eyes of Li Quan’an’s subordinate. Seeing that neither Li Quan’an nor Wen Yu made any move, he cautiously picked up the scroll. A notification echoed in his mind.

”Give me that scroll,” Wen Yu’s voice urged once more.

The man’s face first showed shock, then a complex mix of emotions, then hesitation, which was finally replaced by determination.

This item could change his destiny! With this, he was confident he could escape the treasure land. Then, relying on this scroll, he could live freely and comfortably somewhere else. He might even become the leader of a settlement!

Why should he have to serve under Li Quan’an for his entire life? Why should he have to be subservient to others? Why should he be ordered around?

Everyone has ambition, especially when faced with the power to change their own destiny.

Li Quan’an’s subordinate decided to gamble. But those blinded by greed never meet a good end!

And so, he lost. He lost his life.

From the moment Wen Yu saw the scroll, he had been carefully watching the man’s expression.

Treasures in scroll form could be hidden profession-change scrolls or skill scrolls. Such items were instantly used the moment they were torn open.

Wen Yu had already considered this treasure his. Someone trying to snatch his things? Absolutely not!

The instant a look of resolve flashed across the face of the man holding the scroll, Wen Yu moved.

Covering the few meters between them took less than a second.

Before the man could exert force with his hands to tear open the scroll, Wen Yu had already grabbed his head. The immense force made the man shriek in pain.

Wen Yu snapped the subordinate’s wrists and wrenched the scroll from his now-twisted hands.

”My things are not for you to take,” a cold voice stated.

Then, with a surge of strength in his right hand, Wen Yu slammed the man’s head against the wall!

It burst like a watermelon, splattering red and white substances across the ground.
