Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 87: Chapter 44: Desperate Cyclops_1

”Go on ahead. I’ll handle things here!” Wen Yu said to Sun Ruixing without turning his head, his eyes still locked on the Giant Corpse King.

Sun Ruixing nodded and turned to leave without another word.

Knowing Wen Yu’s strength and personality, Sun Ruixing wasn’t worried about him in the slightest. Instead, his own safety was the immediate concern.

Because zombies from the fire pit were already emerging!

As the pit slowly filled with zombies, some, wreathed in flames from head to toe, were endlessly climbing out. Then, baring fangs and claws, they charged toward the camp.

The Zombie King roared fiercely. These zombies paid no attention to Wen Yu, who was close enough to touch, and instead furiously chased the fleeing professionists in the distance.

The Zombie King intended to kill Wen Yu himself, as a tribute to the Level 2 zombies it had painstakingly cultivated.

Seeing the Zombie King’s actions, Wen Yu couldn’t help but chuckle.

Such a foolish move for a creature of low intelligence. What was cannon fodder for? Of course, to be used *as* cannon fodder! Even if a single zombie could only drain a minuscule amount of his stamina, its death would be worthwhile! Without area-of-effect attacks, enough ants could indeed kill an elephant. That was absolutely possible!

Unfortunately, the Giant Corpse King was far too confident in its own might. Such a powerful yet mindless opponent would be much easier to handle.

As the zombie horde streamed between the Corpse King and Wen Yu, their sheer numbers obscured Wen Yu’s vision. He silently raised his steel saber, anticipating a move from the unseen Corpse King.

Then, a loud thud echoed from the other side.

The Zombie King leaped over the horde, its massive right hand smashing down toward Wen Yu.

Wen Yu retreated swiftly, dodging the Corpse King’s crude attack.

He knocked down several rapidly advancing zombies behind him before lunging forward, his steel saber slashing directly into the Corpse King’s thigh.

Foul blood splattered as the steel saber carved a deep gash into the Corpse King’s leg. The Corpse King reacted, its right hand crashing down once more, a vicious gust of wind sweeping over Wen Yu’s head.

Wen Yu dodged the blow by ducking, then swung his saber again.

Thanks to his Rapid Speed Ability, Wen Yu was nearly as fast as the Zombie King, and his agility gave him an even greater edge!

Wen Yu clashed with the Corpse King. After only a few exchanges, Wen Yu was sent flying backward, while the Corpse King stumbled, numerous wounds of varying depths appearing on its body.

Wiping blood from the corner of his mouth, Wen Yu recalled being kicked by the Zombie King. The blow had landed squarely on his chest, breaking several ribs and jarring his internal organs.

The Zombie King grew infuriated upon seeing that this human hadn’t died.

As the hegemon of Chaihe Town, how could it have been entangled with this mere insect for so long!

With a furious roar, the Corpse King strode forward, lunging straight for Wen Yu, who had just risen to his feet.

After a brief exchange, Wen Yu had already gauged the Corpse King’s general capabilities.

Its physical attributes were 41 points. Furthermore, its right hand had mutated to some extent, granting it a massive increase in strength. Wen Yu couldn’t estimate the exact amount, but he was certain a single hit would be devastating!

I can fight it!

His mind made up, Wen Yu raised his saber and charged forward, clashing with the Corpse King once more.

As Wen Yu and the Corpse King became locked in a deadlocked battle, the zombie horde had already passed through their combat zone. Meanwhile, Cyclops, still in the fire pit, was undergoing a gradual transformation!

The fur on his body had long since vanished. His exposed skin was burned through in places, revealing charred yellow muscle underneath. Cyclops’s eyelids, over his tightly shut eyes, had been incinerated to ash. One paw was clamped tightly over his right eye; his left eye socket was a ghastly, seared-open wound.

The eyeball within had already shriveled.

His injuries were horrifying, yet Cyclops’s aura grew steadily stronger!

Finally, Cyclops climbed out from the bottom of the pit, treading on the corpses of dead zombies.

His one remaining right eye was his sole means of perceiving the external world. With a single glance, Cyclops spotted Wen Yu entangled with the Zombie King.

However, Wen Yu was not in a good situation.

The difference in their physical attributes was over ten points. Although the Corpse King was somewhat unintelligent, and the Rapid Speed Ability allowed Wen Yu to partially close the speed gap, this was by no means a long-term solution. If this dragged on, Wen Yu would undoubtedly be pummeled into paste by the Corpse King!

Just as Wen Yu agilely dodged the Corpse King’s right hand, he was once again swept by its short leg. The protective suit on his chest instantly burst apart from the immense force, and the remaining impact slammed into Wen Yu’s body.

Wen Yu’s chest visibly caved in, and he spat out a mouthful of blood.

Instead, Wen Yu laughed.

Because Wen Yu saw that his most loyal companion was ready for battle.

Just as the Zombie King was about to deliver the final blow to Wen Yu, a scorching gust of wind rushed at it from behind, so fast that even the Zombie King had no time to react!

Flames still licked at Cyclops’s body, but this did not hinder his combat.

His ferocious pounce struck the Zombie King squarely.

The Zombie King, over three meters tall, was of comparable height to Cyclops when standing. Cyclops’s pounce slammed the Zombie King directly to the ground!

Cyclops’s current physical attributes now even surpassed the Zombie King’s!

Then, a bloody close-quarters battle erupted between the beast and the zombie.

Cyclops opened his massive jaws and bit directly onto the Zombie King’s neck. His sharp canine teeth sank deep into its flesh. In less than three seconds, Cyclops would bite clean through the Zombie King’s neck!

Fear flashed in the Zombie King’s eyes. Its deformed right hand suddenly exerted immense force, fiercely striking Cyclops’s body.

The power unleashed by its deformed right arm was far greater than its physical attributes alone would suggest.

Cyclops howled in pain. The tremendous force sent him flying off the Zombie King, tearing away a large chunk of flesh and blood from its neck in the process.

The injury Cyclops inflicted on the Zombie King with this single blow was more devastating than ten of Wen Yu’s slashes combined!

Cyclops quickly scrambled to his feet and, without the slightest hesitation, charged at the Zombie King once more.

The Zombie King roared and charged. The two colossal figures, like a pair of speeding armored vehicles, crashed into each other.

It was a far more brutal battle than the one between Wen Yu and the Zombie King!

Neither side dodged nor evaded the other’s attacks; they simply focused all their strength on inflicting damage.

Every swipe and bite from Cyclops tore away a large piece of the Zombie King’s flesh.

The Zombie King’s right fist, however, was not to be underestimated. Each blow landing on Cyclops’s body sounded like a muffled drumbeat.

Until, a large gush of fresh blood flowed from Cyclops’s mouth, signaling that his internal organs had ruptured.

Yet, the effects of his Mortal Combat ability allowed Cyclops to erupt with astonishing strength. As the Zombie King’s right fist struck out once more, Cyclops bit down hard on its right arm.
