Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 93: Chapter 50 Information about Another Gathering Place_1

Inside the small restaurant, Zang Pengfei directed Wen Yu to the main seat, before calling for everyone to sit down.

Dishes were constantly being served, and as Wen Yu looked around the room, he noticed a problem.

”Brother Fei, have you seen Sun Ruixing?”

Zang Pengfei was picking up food for Wen Yu when he heard Wen Yu’s question. Puzzled, he asked in return, ”You haven’t seen Sun Ruixing this whole time either? Wasn’t he with you, little brother?”

Wen Yu shook his head and did not continue the conversation.

From Zang Pengfei’s expression, Wen Yu could see that Zang Pengfei was not lying. Sun Ruixing had not returned to camp. It was possible that something unexpected had happened to him after they separated.

But what did that have to do with Wen Yu?

In this apocalypse, accidents could happen at any time. Wen Yu didn’t have the energy to care about what Sun Ruixing was up to. Once he found out that Sun Ruixing wasn’t there, he asked about it. When he didn’t get an answer, he simply dropped the matter.

He immediately lowered his head and focused his attention on the food in front of him.

Most of it was stored potatoes, but the cook had some skill. With only simple potatoes, he had produced eight dishes with distinct flavors.

The most crucial thing was the generous portions!

While listening to Zang Pengfei assign work to his subordinates and eating his food, Wen Yu formulated a simple plan for his next move.

They would go straight ahead, pass through Chaihe Town.

The dangers of the mountains were too numerous. It would be better to harvest zombies in the surrounding small towns or rural areas. Once he reached the Third-level, he would immediately return to Mudanjiang City!

Simba was a thorn in Cyclops’s heart! And Wen Yu was also very interested in Simba, the former overlord.

”Brother Wen Yu? Brother Wen Yu?”

Zang Pengfei gently nudged Wen Yu, who was deep in thought, interrupting his musings.

”What’s wrong?”

Wen Yu raised an eyebrow.

”Earlier, I mentioned I had something I wanted your help with.”

Zang Pengfei noticed that Wen Yu was a little distracted and had to repeat what he had just said.

”Previously, there were two settlements in Chaihe Town. We haven’t gone to check on the other place these past few days. This time, I’d like Brother Wen Yu to lead Little Sky to observe the situation there. If they’re still alive, merging the two settlements will make us safer and allow us to develop faster. For this, we’ll need Brother Wen Yu to put in some effort!”

Zang Pengfei said to Wen Yu with a meaningful gaze.

Wen Yu raised an eyebrow, responding directly, ”If it’s just taking a look, there’s definitely no problem. But if you want me to attack our own kind...”

”HAHAHA.”

Zang Pengfei laughed heartily, ”Rest assured, Brother Wen Yu. I get it. I won’t let you down!”

Wen Yu nodded with a smile.

Zang Pengfei spoke of merging, but in reality, it meant annexation. Especially since, after Sun Aotian, three Level 2 professionists had appeared in the camp, Zang Pengfei’s ambitions had grown even larger!

And Wen Yu was Zang Pengfei’s biggest trump card. As long as the benefits offered were sufficient, even a powerful expert like Wen Yu would contribute to Zang Pengfei’s cause!

This was the fundamental difference between an Independent and a leader of a faction.

Of course, this was also a win-win situation! Wen Yu was more than happy about such things!

”Alright then. Tomorrow morning, I’ll have Little Sky find Brother Wen Yu to help me check out the situation.”

Seeing Wen Yu nod in agreement, Zang Pengfei hesitated before saying, ”You still need to be careful tomorrow, Brother Wen Yu. According to my information, the people at that camp might have guns!”

”Mm, it’s alright. They aren’t much of a threat.”

After saying that, Wen Yu walked out of the small restaurant.

Inside the restaurant, Zang Pengfei and his trusted subordinates changed the subject to Wen Yu.

”Xiao Wen, did you get the results?” Zang Pengfei asked the young woman named Xiao Wen.

Xiao Wen took off her glasses, fumbled with them for a moment, and then peeled a transparent film from the right lens.

She then took out a futuristic-looking device and placed the film on it.

On the device’s display screen, an image of Wen Yu eating dinner slowly materialized.

”BEEP. Combat power assessment initiated.”

”Physical fitness: 40 points.”

”Profession: Soul Master (Special hidden profession). Profession rating: SSS. This profession has extremely high developmental potential!”

”Current physical condition: Excellent.”

With these few simple sentences, the film on the device quickly burned away, and Xiao Wen put the device away.

Seeing the information on the device, Zang Pengfei took a sharp breath.

”A physical fitness of 40 points, and an SSS-rank special hidden profession. That’s insane!”

Everyone at the table was dumbfounded by the assessment of Wen Yu’s combat power.

”Dalong, you’ve had considerable contact with Wen Yu. Do you think he will pose a threat to our leadership?”

Li Dalong pondered for a moment before replying seriously, ”Based on our interactions so far, he probably won’t. But this person is too strong. If he were to have any ideas... I’m afraid...”

Zang Pengfei listened to Li Dalong’s analysis and nodded, then turned to Sun Aotian, who had a bitter expression.

”Little Sky, when you go out with Wen Yu tomorrow, keep a low profile. Don’t provoke him.”

”Yeah. I’m not a complete fool. I used to think I was the greatest thing since sliced bread, but now I realize I’m just trash!” Sun Aotian said with a face full of bitterness.

The disparity in strength had even cured Sun Aotian of his protagonist syndrome!

Seeing Sun Aotian’s slightly dejected look, Zang Pengfei couldn’t help but console him, ”Don’t be too upset. Now that you’re with me, I definitely won’t let you be disadvantaged.”

Seeing Sun Aotian nod, Zang Pengfei casually ate a few more bites of food and then walked out.

Sun Aotian and Zang Pengfei had already formed an alliance over the past few days.

「...」

As the sky gradually darkened, night enveloped Chaihe Town.

「In a low, dilapidated residential building.」

Sun Ruixing was startled awake by a noise!

He struggled to open his eyes and first surveyed his surroundings.

In a rundown room of a civilian house, by the dim moonlight, all Sun Ruixing could see were bloodstains and human remains scattered everywhere.

Memories of the past few days flooded his mind.

After parting ways with Wen Yu, Sun Ruixing had made his way into Chaihe Town.

The journey had been uneventful. Just as Sun Ruixing was searching for survivors, a few pale-faced humans suddenly appeared.

Without a word, these humans attacked him. Their physical strength surpassed Sun Ruixing’s by a significant margin, leaving him with no way to resist. He was knocked unconscious and brought here.

”Old Sun, Old Sun? Are you awake?”

A low voice interrupted Sun Ruixing’s thoughts, but his body, bound with his hands behind his back, couldn’t move an inch.

In a hoarse voice, he asked, ”Who are you?”

”I’m Li Quan’an. Listen carefully, I’ll get you out of here. Once you’re out, go find Wen Yu immediately! Tell Wen Yu to come here and slaughter these beasts!”
