While Everyone Panicked, I Upgraded My Raft

Chapter 138: Chapter 129: The Speed of Dealing with Enemies is Quite Fast

At this moment, Zelda Parrish and her group weren’t the only ones worried about Rowan Rhodes. Many players in District 122 were deeply concerned.

”We just said no one would dare lay a hand on Big Boss Rowan, and suddenly a whole swarm of them pops up out of nowhere.”

”They’re just a bunch of ragtag mobs.”

”They aren’t just targeting Rowan Rhodes. They’re targeting the savior of District 122.”

”Please let Big Boss Rowan be okay! If anything happens to her, our District 122 will lose its advantage.”

”Exactly! The only reason we’ve been living so comfortably is because she’s been dropping all sorts of Equipment and resources!”

”But we don’t have Positioning Cards, so we can’t even help!”

”Even if we did, it might result in indiscriminate attacks. Some players might use the guise of helping to actually pillage.”

”Celia Lynch: @Zelda Parrish, are you guys in contact with Big Boss Rowan? What did she say? Does she need help?”

”Zelda Parrish: Big Boss Rowan said the only ones in trouble will be them.”

”...”

When Zelda Parrish sent that message, the entire world channel fell silent for a second before exploding in an uproar.

”Is she really that badass?”

”Did Big Boss Rowan really say that?”

”I believe in her, too.”

”Haha, I knew it! Big Boss Rowan will definitely be fine.”

”I can’t wait to see those fools make a joke of themselves.”

”Honestly, we should be praying those attackers lose. Big Boss Rowan has Positioning Cards, but she has never used them against anyone else.”

”True. If those other players win, they’ll definitely keep plundering. One day, it’ll be our turn.”

”Especially since Big Boss Rowan is absolutely crucial to District 122.”

”I have to admit, I feel a lot more at ease now.”

”...”

Rowan Rhodes saw these messages as well. Seeing that almost all of District 122 was supporting her, she couldn’t help but feel a little touched. At the very least, the benefits she provided had convinced the players of District 122 to stand by her side. As the saying went, judge a person by their actions, not their heart. Seeing them take a stand was enough for her.

She was going to win! Not just to prevent her own losses, but to establish her dominance in the Sea Survival Game. This time, anything short of a total victory was a defeat. She had to completely wipe out every single player who dared to deliver themselves to her doorstep.

With those thoughts in mind, Rowan returned her focus to her own waters.

Standing in the control room, she watched the radar scan pick up tiny green dots, one after another, densely encircling her raft. Just as the invaders prepared to launch an attack, the Abyssal Sea Serpents began wreaking havoc among them. There were two of these incredibly massive beasts, each measuring about fifty meters long and a meter wide. Their violent thrashing churned the ocean waves, dredging up numerous mutated marine creatures from the seabed and scattering them directly onto the attackers’ rafts.

The players who had encroached upon Rowan’s waters were utterly terrified. They had never expected to encounter such colossal mutated marine creatures in her territory. The heavy fog obscured their vision, but when the Abyssal Sea Serpents brushed past their rafts, they could distinctly feel the sheer bulk of the monsters. More importantly, whenever these beasts swept by, their rafts’ Durability would plummet rapidly. It was terrifying—absolutely horrifying.

However, a few stronger players realized that the two behemoths hadn’t noticed them yet, so they refocused their sights on Rowan’s raft. Looking at it, brightly lit on every single floor and cutting through the gloom, they couldn’t help but feel a twinge of envy. They already knew her raft was extraordinary, but seeing it with their own eyes was still profoundly shocking. Starting from the exact same point, Rowan had climbed to a height no other player could fathom. It stirred a toxic mix of envy, jealousy, and pure hatred in their hearts. What right did she have to possess all of this?

”But her legend will finally end today,” Oscar Oswald thought, his eyes brimming with greed.

After confirming that the sea serpents weren’t attacking them, Oscar contacted a few other players and initiated an assault on Rowan’s raft. They had to eliminate her before the massive monsters turned on them. Once she was dead, all of her wealth would be theirs. As for the lesser players who had tagged along, they were perfectly positioned to be fodder for the mutated marine creatures. Ultimately, their resources would fall into his hands too.

At that moment, a direct bombardment erupted between Rowan and Oscar’s forces. Fish Spear Guns launched a relentless stream of surprise attacks from beneath the water, striking Oscar’s rafts. Simultaneously, Rowan hurled a barrage of various burning bottles, raining fire down on the invaders. The inner perimeter became a war zone.

Meanwhile, on the outer edges, weaker rafts were being dragged to the ocean floor by the Abyssal Sea Serpents. The owners of these rafts didn’t even have time to scream before they plunged into the dark depths, crushed into fragments alongside their vessels.

[...]

One second, the global player base was buzzing with excitement over this massive raid against the server’s number one player; the next second, they were staring at a barrage of death notifications. The sudden news left countless players reeling in shock.

This Speed was simply too fast!

”So fast.”

”Four or five of them just died in the blink of an eye.”

”No, seriously! I just want to know how Rowan Rhodes pulled that off.”

”I remember over a hundred players went over there! Even if they just blindly attacked her raft, they should have caused at least some damage, right? Right now, it looks like she’s completely suppressing them.”

”Under normal circumstances, the casualties wouldn’t be this high.”

”The only explanation is that some unknown variable has appeared in her waters.”

”Anyone know what that variable might be? The suspense is killing me.”

”Come to think of it, it might have something to do with yesterday’s Abyssal Octopus boss! The Big Boss is incredibly strong, so the mutated marine creatures around her are strong, too. Maybe another boss spawned today, and these players are getting slaughtered by it?”

”That’s a terrifyingly logical guess.”

”They specifically chose to invade during the mutated marine creature wave, and now they’ve dug their own graves.”

”My confidence in Big Boss Rowan just went up a few more levels.”

”WOOHOO! Sitting tight and waiting for more death announcements.”

”...”

The majority of the players possessed sharp instincts. By piecing together the events, they had made an educated guess about the situation in Rowan’s waters—and their guess was spot on. At this moment, countless people were eagerly awaiting the news of her inevitable victory.

Could someone who single-handedly defeated a boss really be considered an ordinary player? Those fools who delivered themselves to her doorstep were nothing more than cannon fodder!
