While Everyone Panicked, I Upgraded My Raft

Chapter 105: Chapter 103: Players Bursting with Creativity

On Rowan Rhodes’s end, she watched her Trading Coins surge before her very eyes, racing straight toward the hundred-million mark. This was because, in addition to the Trading Coins she actually earned herself, she also received transaction fees when other players sold their goods. She had to admit that her heart raced involuntarily just looking at those numbers. Having such a massive amount of Trading Coins meant she had much more room to maneuver in the future. A player base of hundreds of millions was truly the biggest market.

Once it was confirmed that many players knew how to use Seaweed to make circuit boards, the supply of circuit boards suddenly skyrocketed. This wasn’t just in the District 122 Trading Hall, but even more so in the Sea Survival Shop. And with more circuit boards, air purifiers also became more abundant. Previously, a few players trying to supply a market of hundreds of millions would have been stretched somewhat thin. Now, however, nearly 800 zones were supplying this massive market. Eight hundred zones meant tens of millions of players. The damage caused to players by this viral natural disaster would definitely not be as severe as it was in her previous life.

Satisfied with the situation she had brought about, Rowan Rhodes took her Trading Coins and started a shopping spree in the District 122 Trading Hall and the Sea Survival Shop. The resources she bought were basically all fed into different Workbenches to continuously produce various types of Equipment. Only after finishing all this did Rowan Rhodes turn her attention back to the raft.

The viral natural disaster wasn’t just about the virus. Just like the previous two disasters, it was accompanied by marine life—and mutated versions at that. Their attacks would scale with the raft’s own strength. Because her situation in this life was completely different, she couldn’t predict what kind of marine creatures would come, how many there would be, or when they would arrive. All she knew was that she would definitely have to fight a tough battle. She figured that as long as the players were stronger than in her previous life, the Sea Survival Game would definitely increase the difficulty. It was a brutal process of elimination. The Sea Survival Game wanted stronger players, too.

Immediately, Rowan Rhodes began checking the raft’s defenses. The spikes surrounding the raft had already been upgraded to C-level, and their length and durability stats had increased significantly. In addition, there were the accompanying Fish Spear Guns she had set aside. These were sharp weapons for dealing with marine life. Rowan Rhodes had stocked up on quite a few in advance, though she had initially only placed one at each of the raft’s four corners. They hadn’t been needed these past few days, but that wouldn’t necessarily be the case going forward. With this in mind, Rowan Rhodes installed a Fish Spear Gun under every piece of the raft. That way, no matter which direction the marine creatures attacked from, she could strike them right away.

After preparing the raft inside and out, Rowan Rhodes’s gaze instinctively turned outside. Heavy fog still blanketed the surroundings, but its color had changed. In the morning, it had been plumes of white fog, but as time passed, the white fog had turned into a gray haze. It was as if particulate matter was now visible in the air. The toxicity of the air had obviously grown stronger. There were no major changes on the calendar. Unlike the previous two natural disasters, there were no clear warnings; it seemed players were left to figure it out for themselves. Clearly, the difficulty was deepening. And with the virus pervading the outside air, using a Hook Claw to salvage supplies had undoubtedly become much harder.

Glancing at the World Channel, she saw that players were indeed discussing this very issue.

”We can’t see clearly outside, and there’s something wrong with the air. It seems impossible to salvage resources from the raft.”

”Are we just supposed to sit back and eat through our stockpiles these next few days?”

”I don’t dare go out. If I stay outside for even a little while, my Life Value starts dropping.”

”I casually tried scooping around in the sea a few times. Even though I did catch some things, my stats dropped way too fast. It’s not worth it.”

”If you stay out too long, it actually starts getting a bit hard to breathe.”

”Plus, it feels like there are particles in the air.”

”I went out with a Mask and goggles that I made myself. It wasn’t a big issue this morning, but as the fog thickened, I started feeling uncomfortable too.”

”So if you still want to salvage supplies, you should consider taking some protective measures.”

”You could try an oxygen Mask.”

”Weren’t some people suspecting that the top players had visited sunken ships on the seabed? They must have diving gear for that, right? I think using diving gear would definitely let you stay out in the thick fog.”

”Oh right, I haven’t seen any yet.”

”Are the top players researching this?! If they figure it out, I’m definitely buying.”

”Yeah, even though our resources are relatively abundant right now, we can’t just keep having zero income. Three days from now, everything might be completely consumed.”
