While Everyone Panicked, I Upgraded My Raft

Chapter 115: Chapter 109: Mutant Marine Creatures Attack

Ian Sinclair was also in the Farming group chat at this time. Seeing people discuss Rowan Rhodes, he immediately went to buy the fertilizer crafting method. After purchasing it, he quickly checked the details. Upon reviewing it, he realized he already had basically all the required materials.

When his raft had approached an island earlier, he encountered Seagulls and other birds. They would attack players depending on their mood, leaving bird droppings all over the raft. While most players focused on cleaning up the mess, Ian Sinclair did things differently. Because his Skill was Farming and he had actually farmed for a few years in reality, he didn’t clean up the droppings right away; instead, he chose Collection. After discovering the droppings could be stored in his inventory, he knew they had to be a resource. He just hadn’t expected them to come in handy here.

Soon, Ian Sinclair began crafting a compost bin to obtain fertilizer.

There were quite a few Farming Skill players like Ian Sinclair. After all, for players with this type of Skill, the core of developing a raft was planting. In the past, what bothered them most was a lack of soil, which prevented them from truly expanding their planting scale. They had also been at a loss on how to increase the soil’s fertility.

Now that they had a solution, they all began to study it eagerly. They hoped to rely on planting to exchange for enough resources to properly develop their rafts. Rowan Rhodes’s willingness to share this information also earned her quite a bit of goodwill from many Farming Skill players. Over this period, they could all tell she was a player with both ability and a kind heart. Even if her primary goal was to make money, the help she provided to other players was undeniably real. From the Glimmerstone Isle guide to the air purifiers, and now the fertilizer, many players had truly benefited. Their approval of Rowan Rhodes was soaring.

Meanwhile, after pulling back her thoughts, Rowan Rhodes focused all her attention on the compost bins. She watched closely as the Big Turtle produced them. It wasn’t just Rowan Rhodes; the Seagull Family also gathered around to help.

[Fertilizer generation countdown: 1 hour 59 minutes 21 seconds]

The compost bins were placed in rows in the corner, waiting for Collection once fermentation was successful.

[Fertilizer can not only enrich the soil but also increase the Speed of crop growth,] the Big Turtle explained to Rowan Rhodes.

”Then I’ll have to trouble you to make more of it later,” Rowan Rhodes said.

Stockpiling food had its clear advantages. The food consumption rate across the entire server was extraordinary. In the Sea Survival Shop and the trading hall, food was constantly in demand. There were always unlucky people who could neither plant nor catch large amounts of sustenance. Furthermore, to maintain their own condition, many people needed to keep food in stock. Since food was highly sought after, fertilizer that could make soil fertile would, by Nature, be highly sought after too. Whether used for herself or sold, it wouldn’t be a loss. Therefore, Rowan Rhodes, by Nature, hoped for as much fertilizer as possible.

[Okay~] the Big Turtle agreed.

With the compost bins sorted, next were the extra Seed Beds. After the Big Turtle chirped back and forth with the Seagulls, the birds carried it up to the highest level, where it began planting the seeds Rowan Rhodes had provided. Since there were currently only five seeds of Eira Grass, the Big Turtle planted those first, then selected vegetables and fruits with short growing times for the rest. Once the first batch of Eira Grass sprouted and the Big Turtle finished Collection for the seeds, it would plant the second batch, repeating the cycle to cultivate as much Eira Grass as possible.

Rowan Rhodes also helped during this process. Just as the Mango trees, palm trees, and regular trees fully matured, she chopped them down to obtain Wooden Boards, fruits, and seeds. Then, she used all the remaining large soil pots to plant Coconut trees.

Originally, Coconut trees had fallen out of favor after the extreme heat disaster. However, Coconuts now had a brand-new purpose in crafting the Antidote and fertilizer. Coconut water could serve as a beverage, Coconut meat as an ingredient for the Antidote, and Coconut shells as fertilizer. It truly made perfect use of everything. Since they were needed, Rowan Rhodes’s planting, by Nature, prioritized Coconuts.

Aside from planting them herself, Rowan Rhodes also posted buy orders in the trading hall. If one asked which district was the least short on food, Rowan Rhodes dared say District 122 would definitely make the list.

In the very beginning, Celia Lynch had taught the players how to make small and large soil pots, prompting players to desperately search for seeds. Some players had obtained Coconut, palm, and Mango trees, and subsequently sold their seeds at high prices, allowing many in District 122 to directly profit. Not to mention the Harvest Day event, where every player managed to snag some seeds to varying degrees. As a result, almost everyone in District 122 planted fruit trees, vegetables, and melons to some extent.

With that being the case, the quantity of produce was abundant. And among them, Coconuts were likely the most popular. So, as soon as Rowan Rhodes posted her trade, many transactions were completed immediately. After all, the items she offered were extremely unique across the entire trading hall—they were all things other players desperately needed: bedding, Engines, Steering Wheels, batteries, light bulbs, and air purifiers. Rowan Rhodes could produce these items herself; to her, they were things she could pull out effortlessly. But to most players, they were absolute necessities.

The players in District 122 couldn’t scramble fast enough to trade! They wished they could exchange every single Coconut they had for more items. Of course, apart from trading, many District 122 players also began planting Coconut trees themselves.

[District 122: (95830/100000)]

”What does the boss need so many Coconuts for?”

”Whatever the reason, I’ve already cleared out all the Coconuts in my inventory. I’ll just plant more later.”

”I was just thinking I didn’t have enough Trading Coins on hand, and air purifiers were so hard to grab! I didn’t expect there to be so many available in District 122.”

”The boss really looks out for us!”

”Coconuts are useful!”

”What use do they have?”

”Do you guys know about the informational goods Boss Rowan Rhodes is selling?”

”Of course we do! Their sales volume is so high, it’s really eye-catching.”

”The fertilizer recipe that was just put up for sale mentions that Coconut shells are an ingredient.”

”No wonder.”

”I bought it too. Speaking of which, fertilizer is really useful. I’ve been short on soil lately, so this came right on time.”

”Bird droppings aren’t that easy to get.”

”Just sitting here waiting for the big shots to sell some.”

”Besides fertilizer, another key product also requires Coconuts!”

”The Antidote, right? Coconuts are useful for it?”

”Coconuts aren’t the main ingredient! But the other ingredient hasn’t even shown up in the Sea Survival Shop or the trading hall yet.”

”That Antidote recipe seems to have been created by a player from another district.”

”The Sea Survival Game is truly full of talents.”

”Yeah, I saw that the Sea Survival Shop released way too many new items today, and there are a lot I’ve never even seen before.”

”Right, it’s dazzling.”

”...”

In District 122, because of the air purifiers and the Antidotes—two key items everyone was working hard to obtain—players didn’t feel immense pressure and actually had the time to chat. Taking the opportunity while eating, Rowan Rhodes watched their casual conversation.

However, shortly after lunch, she noticed that the Fish Spear Gun on her raft had moved. Her attention was instantly drawn to it. The Fish Spear Gun attacking first could only mean one thing: under the virus disaster, the mutated marine creatures had finally arrived.
