Entertainment: Wanted to Acquire the Company on the First Day of Signing

197: game of ThronesA typical TV series usually has 10 episodes a season, so 7 seasons would be 70 episodes. If he gets 100,000 yuan per episode as a bonus, then besides the 3 million for the buyout of the rights, he can also get over 7 million more. This way, he would become a multimillionaire overnight!

George’s face flushed with excitement. He even had an idea: write more. If he could write 20 episodes per season, he wouldn’t have to worry about food or drink for the rest of his life.

Not only would he earn money, but his lifelong wish would also be fulfilled.

Lu Qingyu: ”I wonder if Mr. George is satisfied with these terms.”

George couldn’t wait to sign the contract right now.

”Satisfied, I’m satisfied.”

Lu Qingyu smiled: ”Since Mr. George has no other objections, we can sign the contract.”

George turned the contract to the page where he needed to sign and, with a trembling hand, wrote his name.

Watching George sign his name, Lu Qingyu couldn’t quite suppress the smile on his face.

When chatting with friends in his previous life, they had mentioned this show. He vaguely remembered that the author’s compensation was around 900,000 per episode.

If calculated at 900,000, then for the whole series... the money paid to George alone would exceed 60 million.

It feels so good to save money!

After finalizing the copyrights, the Project Team was quickly established, and then casting began.

With the success of the movie avatar preceding it, Magic Paradise became famous in the public eye. As soon as their casting announcement was released, thousands of people signed up, including many second-tier and even first-tier stars.

Because the production of game of thrones would cost a lot of money, Lu Qingyu basically didn’t consider stars above the second tier because they were too expensive.

Plus, they were unwilling to lower their pay, so there was even less need to choose them.

Emilia was already a second-tier star in the industry. She had debuted four years ago and had good luck, filming dozens of movies, four of which she played the female lead.

She had discovered the original novel game of thrones by chance. The novel wasn’t popular yet, but she was already captivated by the characters and setting in the story.

George updated every day without fail for a whole year. When there were suddenly two days without updates, Emilia was still wondering what happened, only to see that game of thrones was actually going to be made into a TV series.

Moreover, the actors were being chosen through auditions. Any actor who met the criteria could submit their resume to Dream Paradise.

Emilia immediately submitted her resume. She was very confident in her acting skills and particularly liked the role of the Dragon Mother in the show.

After submitting her resume, Emilia waited for the results.

In the afternoon, Emilia’s actor friends had a gathering, and they chatted during the meal.

”Charlotte, I heard one of your works has been shortlisted for an award. Congratulations.”

The woman called Charlotte was a quasi-first-tier actress. Her current momentum in Hollywood was very strong because her beautiful looks had won the favor of major Hollywood directors.

Charlotte picked up her coffee and took a small sip: ”It’s all thanks to the director of this movie for giving me the chance to perform.”

Charlotte sat right across from Emilia. They both entered the entertainment industry in the same year. They met during an audition for a movie where Emilia got the role and Charlotte failed.

And that movie, for which she had been rejected, made Emilia an overnight star.

Over the years, Charlotte had always been bitter about this. She felt the audition back then was unfair. Emilia wasn’t as good-looking as her. If she had been chosen, the work would definitely have been even more popular than it is now.

Charlotte’s tone was vaguely boastful: ”Actually, you don’t know, I didn’t want to star in that show at first because my schedule wasn’t right. I remember I even recommended Emilia to the director, but the director was very persistent and insisted that I play the part, even if it meant waiting for half a year.”

Emilia didn’t expect the gossip to turn to her, but this was normal. She didn’t understand why Charlotte seemed to deliberately target her at every gathering.

Emilia put down her coffee cup and forced a smile: ”Congratulations, Charlotte.”

The people around kept praising Charlotte, making her vanity explode.

They chatted for nearly an hour, and the topics were all about Charlotte. Emilia couldn’t stay any longer and wanted to leave early.

Just as she was about to leave, she suddenly heard someone mention the thing she was most interested in.

”Have you heard? The film company that made avatar is going to film a series. I heard it’s called game of thrones.”

”I saw the news. I think it’s quite funny because they’re promoting it as an epic masterpiece.”

When the words ”epic masterpiece” were mentioned, everyone had an implicit smile on their faces.

Only Emilia’s face showed genuine liking when she heard about the show.

She even recommended the original novel of the show to everyone.

”Haven’t you read the novel for that show? It’s really great. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with them saying that.”

Seeing Emilia’s happy look, Charlotte’s eyes revealed a hint of slight disdain:

”Emilia, I heard the movie you were going to film a while ago had its lead replaced. If you don’t have any resources right now, I can introduce you to some others, but I advise you not to waste your time on this show.”

Emilia indeed had a role as a female lead replaced in a show, but it wasn’t that someone else replaced her; she had taken the initiative to resign.

Because the director of that show was very sleazy, Emilia didn’t want to work with someone like that.

”This company filmed avatar. I believe their production standards aren’t bad, but I feel like none of you seem to think highly of this show. Why is that?”

Charlotte looked down with a smile and then said: ”You probably don’t know, but the owner of this company is an Asian.”

Emilia frowned. So? What does that have to do with the owner?

”What’s wrong with him being Asian? This company only produced such an excellent work as avatar because it changed owners. I believe this owner must be very outstanding.”

Charlotte had very good relationships with many directors and Producers. She was also interested in this work at first, but she was discouraged.

She felt that the analysis by those directors and Producers made sense. The success of a movie has a certain element of probability. It doesn’t mean that because a company produces one excellent work, all its subsequent works will be excellent.

avatar’s performance was indeed very good, but it also attracted a lot of jealousy. People in the industry were green with envy over avatar’s success.

Their boss was an unknown Asian. Countless invitations to various banquets for directors and Producers in the industry had been sent to him, but he had never attended. This behavior of his was undoubtedly a slap in the face to those who took the initiative to show goodwill.

To put it bluntly, this circle would not accept him.

And making a movie is different from making a TV series. He didn’t wait to establish a firm foothold in the film industry before moving into TV series. Such a hasty move made everyone skeptical of him.
