The Female Lead Decides to Act Wickedly

Chapter 489: Chapter 208: Scum of the Spy Warfare Genre (End)_2

In fact, it was He Haotian’s merit.

Besides, Shen Yan had a suspicion, ”He must have noticed something!”

Upon hearing this from Shen Yan, Qu Anni fell into silence.

Because she had the same feeling.

If initially a few gold bars, a thousand to five thousand US dollars, donated to a small orphanage, it still seemed somewhat reasonable.

But after that, when huge sums of money were taken, even if He Haotian didn’t care about the money, he probably had a count in his head.

Hundreds of thousands of US dollars, enough to support all the orphans and widowed in Shanghai.

Yet, all that money was taken by Qu Anni, and He Haotian didn’t harbor the slightest doubt.

Was he stupid?

Heh, being able to be a content salted fish in the Shadow Organization full of devils and spies.

Doing nothing yet still strutting around, a fool couldn’t accomplish such a thing.

It wasn’t just the protection of the Fujiwara Family; it was more about He Haotian’s savvy, his knack for socializing.

Just look at his relationships with Ying Zuo, Sugawara, and others, then look at how he would chum around with the devils in the Constitutional Army every day; such skill is certainly not of an ordinary person.

Definitely not a fool.

Moreover, Qu Anni often went out; it couldn’t be said that she vanished and appeared like a ghost, but sometimes she truly didn’t seem like a housewife.

As her most intimate bedfellow, and not just for a day or two, He Haotian couldn’t have been completely oblivious.

Qu Anni had even been arrested once under suspicion of being a resistance member.

Taking these situations into account, both Shen Yan and Qu Anni believed that He Haotian must have guessed Qu Anni’s true identity.

But... He Haotian said nothing, continued to feign ignorance, and was even more generous with money, medicine, and supplies.

Several times, Qu Anni almost couldn’t resist, wanting to come clean directly with He Haotian.

However, in the end, she held back.

Firstly because of confidentiality rules, and secondly to protect He Haotian’s safety.

As long as He Haotian knew nothing, he could mingle in the Shadow Organization under the identity of ”Sugawara Kosuke” without any mental burden.

But once things were out in the open, it would also set him on the right path.

He Haotian wasn’t a professional spy, after all; his psychological quality and professional standards were not up to par.

In a Demon Cave like the Shadow Organization, whether devils or traitors, all are spies with venomous eyes and cunning minds.

At the slightest slip from He Haotian, what awaited him would be damnation beyond redemption.

”Let’s just maintain the status quo! As long as we know that he has made contributions to our country and our people, it’s fine. After victory, we can give him proper recognition just the same!”

Shen Yan sighed like this.

Of course, people like them didn’t care about false honors.

If they could offer up their lives, how could they care about a bit of reputation?

As long as they could save Hua Country, as long as they could secure a better life for the people, they would not regret hiding their identity or even carrying a bad name!

”Mhm!” Qu Anni agreed, her voice heavy with a nasal tone.

However, although the situation couldn’t be clarified openly, neither Qu Anni nor Shen Yan harbored any more doubts about He Haotian’s identity as a person from Hua Country.

Even friendly Japanese couldn’t sacrifice everything for Hua Country.

He Haotian did!

So, he could only be one of our own compatriots.

With this realization, Qu Anni felt her heart drawing even closer to her husband’s.

However, do you think this was He Haotian’s greatest merit?

Wrong!

Having solved the medical crisis, headquarters sent new instructions — weapons and equipment.

If the Red Party hadn’t established its own trading firm in Shanghai, if the trading firm hadn’t come into contact with crooked foreign dealers, headquarters wouldn’t have had such ambitions.

But since they had their own trading firm in an international city like Shanghai, and could do business with foreigners, purchasing some firearms and ammunition from foreign middlemen should be feasible, right?

Shen Yan:... It’s challenging, but we can strive for it.

Qu Anni, quite straightforwardly, went to find her husband: ”Haojie, I heard there’s been some arms smuggling recently?”

He Tiantian:... OK, got it!

In fact, without Qu Anni’s urging, He Tiantian had already secretly acquired a military factory.

Before she time-traveled to this novel world, she had mastered the complete manual of military weapons.

Let alone the outdated firearms of the ’30s and ’40s, even the latest guns from decades later were very familiar to He Tiantian.

She could improve the existing latest guns and even design her own.

He Tiantian even pondered whether to develop a Mushroom Egg.
