The Female Lead Decides to Act Wickedly

Chapter 483: Chapter 206 Scum of Spy Literature (Part 10)_2

”...Haojie, you live so frugally, yet I take money to donate to the Orphanage, is this, is this——”

Unable to hold back, Qu Anni finished packing her luggage and put it to one side. She sat down next to He Tiantian, gently pinched her son’s chubby cheeks, and whispered.

”Oh, it’s different. The frugality is only what you see on the surface, in fact, I live quite comfortably within the organization.”

She was simply reluctant to spend her own money; once outside, she frequented the restaurants and rode in luxury cars, all paid for by the traitors, hooligans, and profiteers.

”That bunch of bastards, no matter how much they curse me in their hearts, they all show me the utmost respect to my face!”

He Tiantain boasted with pride, ”So you see, I’m not suffering at all outside.”

Yet outside, so many of the common people were suffering.

There were also the soldiers of the Red Party, starving and freezing, yet still bearing arms to fight against the invaders.

As someone who claimed to be selfish in her past life, He Tiantian seemed not to understand the heroism of those martyrs who donated their entire fortunes to the organization and armed forces.

But now, having arrived in the Republic, in such a turbulent era,

She truly understood that when the entire country was weak and impoverished, even if one had money, they couldn’t live honorably.

If one didn’t want to be a slave to a fallen country, the only option was to struggle.

The persona of He Tiantian in this body couldn’t be discarded, so He Tiantian couldn’t personally go to the battlefield to fight the enemies.

Fortunately, there’s more than one way to serve the country; He Tiantian could contribute to the country in other ways.

”Annie, your donations to the Orphanage are acts of kindness. I only wish to accumulate more merit for our son—”

At this point, He Tiantian seemed to remember something and suddenly stopped speaking.

Qu Anni knew her husband’s true identity and, seeing ”his” demeanor, she could understand his thoughts.

Her husband must feel that, despite being a man from Hua Country, he had to pretend to be a devil to scrape by.

And every day, he fraternized with a bunch of devils whose hands were stained with the blood of Hua Country people, all in an act of desperation.

Her husband himself hadn’t done anything to harm the people of Hua Country, but the act of assuming a false identity itself seemed like a sin.

Being an uneducated ordinary citizen of Hua Country, deeply believing in karma,

Her husband was seeking redemption for his sins, hoping to accrue virtue for his descendants.

”Okay, I understand!”

Guessing her husband’s thoughts, Qu Anni’s sense of guilt dissolved.

If her husband wanted to buy peace of mind, then she would let him have it.

Besides... their organization really, really, really needed money.

Just the other day, Old Feng mentioned that the troops needed a batch of radios, but there was no money and no channels.

In fact, the channels weren’t too hard to obtain; Shanghai was a major international city, and even after its fall, all kinds of trades never ceased.

There was also the rampant smuggling and the brazen black market.

As long as the money was right, not to mention those profiteers, even some devils would dare to sell materials.

So, money was key.

Qu Anni glanced towards the study, silently repeating a password in her heart—the son’s birthday.

She secretly decided: I won’t take too much, just enough to gather the money for ten radios first.

He Tiantian certainly noticed Qu Anni’s subtle actions, but she deliberately spoke of ”doing good deeds, accumulating merit” precisely to alleviate Qu Anni’s mental burden.

If she could, He Tiantian would hand over all the money she extorted from spies and traitors to the organization.

But she couldn’t break character.

She could only use these indirect methods, yet Qu Anni was rather principled, forcing He Tiantian to keep encouraging her and actively help Qu Anni find excuses.

Take it! Take it!

It would be best to take all the gold bars and US Dollars from the safe!

Not for others, but for my peace of mind, ”He Haotian.”

Having prepared her luggage and settled the house, He Tiantian especially visited devils like Sugawara Ichiro and Miyamoto Jiro.

She repeatedly asked them to take good care of her wife and child while she was away.

Sugawara Ichiro was somewhat contemptuous of his cheap nephew’s ”short-lived heroism and love affair,” but if Sugawara Haojie had a weakness, it would be easy to manipulate.

Besides, as for gold bars, they were truly tempting.

Miyamoto Jiro was also delighted by the wad of US Dollars sent by He Tiantian. As a ”good friend,” he certainly knew about the lies Lv Yaohua and his mad dogs from the Shadow Organization had spread, claiming Sugawara’s wife to be an anti-Japanese activist.

Back then, Sugawara Haojie was still at home, and those mad dogs were already so brazen.
