The Female Lead Decides to Act Wickedly

Chapter 90: Chapter 075: The Whole Family Is Top-grade (Part 7)

Grandpa He stayed at the guesthouse, and, as arranged by He Tiantian, he went to a small nearby restaurant for some lunch at noon.

After coming back, he continued to curl up in bed and sleep.

He had no idea how long he had slept when he heard the door creak, and Grandpa He sat up with a start.

The visitor was none other than his unlucky granddaughter, He Tiantian.

Before Grandpa He could even ask, ”Where have you been? Why are you back so late?”

He Tiantian dropped a bombshell.

Grandpa He was stunned, ”What? You’re saying you’ve been selected for the provincial team, and you’re going to be an athlete?”

”Yeah! I’ve made it into the archery team for the provincial squad, and I’ll be joining the sports school for group training in three days,”

He Tiantian boasted while carrying the traditional bow she had purchased.

”You? You of all people?”

When Grandpa He heard this news, his first reaction wasn’t joy but skepticism.

You couldn’t blame him for being overly concerned; his granddaughter had been spoiled rotten by her real mother.

A country girl who didn’t even dare to do the household chores, let alone work in the fields.

An almost-eighteen-year-old who couldn’t cook, had never washed clothes, and even had her underwear washed by her sister-in-law.

Oh, my, her lazy appearance was simply irritating to watch.

And there’s Liu Xiuzhi, that shrew, beaming with pride as she said, ”Our Tiantian is still studying, and she will achieve great things in the future!”

Studying, studying, yet she couldn’t even get into a university.

Whether she had great prospects was debatable. If she really had them, she wouldn’t be pressuring her family to cling to the Yan Family.

Behind closed doors, Grandpa He and Granny He would regularly grumble, but alas, they didn’t have the final say.

As long as Liu Xiuzhi was around, He Tiantian was treated like a pampered young lady by everyone in the He Family.

Raised so that her hands never worked the soil, she couldn’t even tell the grains apart, and she looked nothing like a country person with her clean and pristine appearance.

Now, He Tiantian was even claiming she wanted to become an athlete.

Ha, could she endure the hardships that came with being an athlete?

Grandpa He wasn’t too familiar with the sports circle, but the story of the women’s volleyball team was deeply rooted in people’s hearts.

Those girls had it tough, with excessive practices and having to continue training despite injuries.

Their bodies were often patched with tape, showing bruises and marks – it wasn’t just their families who felt for them, but also the spectators.

The agony of training, the pain of injuries, and the immense psychological pressure from poor performance – could Tiantian, a spoiled brat, really handle all that?

Even Grandpa He, who was biased against Tiantian, had such doubts, and even Liu Xiuzhi, who loved Tiantian the most, was hesitant—

”Tiantian, being an athlete is definitely good, but, but—” can you cope with the hardship?

And what’s more, athletes often get injured, and many retire with chronic ailments. Thinking of the outstanding athletes reported in the news made Liu Xiuzhi’s heart ache.

”Mom, I’m different from those athletes in ball sports or track and field. I just stand there and shoot arrows!”

He Tiantian saw things very clearly.

While both questioned her ability to endure hardship, Grandpa He’s tone was tinged with distrust and even a hint of gloating, while Liu Xiuzhi’s was full of worry and compassion.

”What’s the difference? Isn’t it all about tough training?” Liu Xiuzhi continued to ask with concern.

”Mom, it’s totally different. I don’t need to be running or stretching to the point of exhaustion all day, nor do I need to deal with physical collisions with teammates or opponents...”

He Tiantian knew her real mother was genuinely worried about her, so she took extra patience to explain to Liu Xiuzhi the differences between archery and other sports.

Actually, archery would probably be considered the sport with the lowest injury rate among athletes.

Of course, accidents and injuries could happen in any competitive activity.

But relatively speaking, archery seemed less intense and the risk factor appeared lower.

That was one reason why He Tiantian chose to be an archer; she couldn’t let the original host’s persona crumble.

She was a spoiled, vain little lady, who couldn’t handle the slightest hardship.

To make her run dozens of kilometers a day, endure repetitive training for hours on end, soaked in sweat, contorting her face in pain as she pushed her physical limits, and getting covered in bruises... she would rather die than agree.

Such an athlete, no matter how glamorous or admired, was not the path she would choose.

Archery, on the other hand, seemed much more appealing.

He Tiantian had long since merged with the original host, and she deeply understood the original’s thoughts and psyche.

She tried her best to twist the fate of the original host and her family while ensuring that the original host’s top-grade personality didn’t collapse.
