The Female Lead Decides to Act Wickedly

Chapter 65: Chapter 065 I am the Evil Sister (Twenty)

”He Tian, do you even know what you’re saying?”

The Wife of Marquis Yongchang, seeing that Grand Madam had already nodded, became even more frantic. She completely lost her reason, crying out indiscriminately.

”It was you who initially suggested that Yiyi marry into the Duke Mansion, and now you’re the one going back on your word. What exactly do you want to do?”

The wife of Marquis Yongchang cried out with an ashen face, completely disregarding the dignity of the Lord’s Wife.

”... Second Aunt, although I’ve been ill for some days, I haven’t been muddled!”

He Tiantian was not at all intimidated by the Marquis’ wife’s outburst. She still looked exhausted and spoke slowly and weakly, ”The first one to suggest that Yiyi should marry into the Duke Mansion wasn’t me!”

”Of course, although it wasn’t initially my suggestion, I indeed agreed to the proposal. Therefore, I admit, it’s my fault toward Yiyi!”

He Tiantian spoke words of apology, but to the Wife of Marquis Yongchang, her demeanor was utterly detestable.

She really wanted to rush forward and strangle He Tian, that despicable creature, to death.

However, Nanny Seo had already positioned herself in front of the couch one step ahead, not moving to act but clearly on guard.

There was also the Grand Madam, who was signaling to the nannies with her eyes.

Catching the signal, the nanny quickly went outside and called in two or three stout women.

He Yi was also infuriated, but she still retained a bit of sanity.

Seeing the precautions taken by Nanny Seo and Grand Madam, she quickly grabbed the wife of Marquis Yongchang’s hand, ”Mother, let’s talk this over slowly, there’s no need for this!”

”How can we possibly speak properly? Oh my foolish daughter, you think about speaking properly, but do they want to speak properly with you?”

He Yi’s words finally calmed the raging Wife of Marquis Yongchang slightly.

Her face was full of hatred, her mouth spewing sarcasm and cursing indirectly, ”When you think about it, we’re all fools, naively believing whatever others say!”

”And then what? We do the deed, our reputation gets ruined, and lastly, they easily change their minds!”

”It doesn’t matter for your father and me since we’re already known as the declasse in the capital. But my Yiyi is a good child, why should she suffer such schemes for no reason?”

”He Tian, the last time you drugged Yiyi, I wanted to come and clear things up with you, but Yiyi stopped me.”

”This naive child, she views you as her own sister, sees you as family! But how could she expect that it’s the closest ones who strike the hardest!”

”Oh, my poor Yiyi, why is your life so harsh!”

The wife of Marquis Yongchang seemed genuinely enraged, her words were as harsh as they could be, almost at the point of burning bridges with He Tiantian.

Having finished playing the role of the antagonist, it was now He Yi’s turn to play the diplomat.

”Mother, please don’t say that. Cousin is not that kind of person.”

He Yi, holding the arm of the Wife of Marquis Yongchang, hurriedly said, ”About the drugging incident before, sister has already punished herself, and the matter has passed, how can we bring it up again?”

”And besides, sister has not neglected me; she even sought Grand Madam’s help to find a good marriage for me.”

”However, cousin, my own marriage can wait, I’m just reluctant to part with Brother Yuan!”

He Yi was indeed not as naive and harmless as she appeared; she knew exactly which points to emphasize.

Instead of becoming hysterical like her own mother, she hit right at the heart of the matter.

Who was the one person He Tian could least bear to part with?

Definitely not Duke Wei, but her only son, Brother Yuan, whom she had carried for ten months.

Initially, He Tian had agreed to the Marquis and Marchioness Yongchang’s suggestion for the sake of her child.

Now by mentioning Brother Yuan, He Yi intended to remind He Tian: ”Dear cousin, are you not afraid that after your death, Grand Madam will choose a formidable new daughter-in-law? Then, the one who will suffer will be your own son.”

Not to mention, Brother Yuan had been designated as the Princely Heir.

A child of only five years old, yet he had received such great honor.

Once a new wife entered the house, she would certainly see Brother Yuan as a thorn in her side, wishing to remove him swiftly.

In fact, setting aside outsiders, even He Yi, hearing that Brother Yuan had become the Princely Heir of Duke Wei, felt uncomfortable.

But now, He Yi would surely not show it; she needed to appear very affectionate towards Brother Yuan, treating him as if he were her own son!

”You like Brother Yuan, you can come and visit him just the same in the future!”

He Tiantian, however, was not at all affected, speaking in a halting but firm tone, ”You said it yourself, Brother Yuan is so adorable, you can’t bear to part with him, and I, his mother, can bear it even less!”

”So, I must live well, Gazing even if just clinging to a breath, I want to witness my Brother Yuan grow up, marry, and have children!”

”In the past I was afraid I couldn’t hold on, but now it’s different, I, I have the Imperial Decree Ceremony Dress bestowed by the Emperor, and those precious medicinal herbs imbued with Dragon Energy... I am sure I can make it through!”

As He Tiantian spoke, a brilliant light burst forth from the depths of her eyes.

Like the stars in the night sky, bright and guiding the way.

The Grand Madam was moved.

Although she did not believe in ”Dragon Energy,” her daughter-in-law was clearly greatly motivated.

And as people say, life is sustained by a single breath.

As long as this breath in the chest does not disperse, perhaps miracles can indeed happen.

Besides, though her daughter-in-law’s health was poor, their Duke Mansion had both money and power, fully able to gather famous doctors and seek various precious medicinal herbs from everywhere.

With enough physicians and medicinal herbs, Lady He might endure for a longer time.

If possible, the Grand Madam still did not want to change her daughter-in-law.

Not just for the sake of so-called favors but even for her beloved grandson, the Grand Madam hoped Lady He could live for a few more years.

Since her daughter-in-law harbored thoughts of living well, she likely truly did not want He Yi to marry into the family.

”Good, very good!”

The Grand Madam repeated her approval, reaching out to grasp He Tiantian’s pale yet alarmingly thin hand, ”Rest assured, child, I understand your intentions!”

The loving gaze of the Grand Madam met with He Tiantian’s eyes in the air.

The mother-in-law and daughter-in-law exchanged silent communications, then both understood each other’s thoughts.

”Thank you, Mother! About Yiyi’s matter—” He Tiantian had not forgotten this topic.

The Wife of Marquis Yongchang was so angry she nearly crushed her teeth.

He Yi was a bit stunned, as she had found He Tiantian’s previous speech ridiculous.

What does it mean to live well?

Those people who died of illness, who hadn’t wanted to live well?

But can such a thing be influenced by mere thoughts?

If merely thinking could ensure success, then what would be the need for doctors?

”Miss He Tian’s” body was already burnt out, even Master Hui Tong dared not guarantee a cure for her.

She had already been sentenced to death, yet she harbored such naive thoughts—it was, it was—

He Yi didn’t know how to describe it, but what was more absurd was that the Grand Madam had been persuaded by her.

Still wanting to arrange a marriage for He Yi?

”Doubtful! Humph, even if our Lord’s Mansion is down and out, arranging a good marriage for Yi is still not a problem!”

The Wife of Marquis Yongchang, furious but clear-headed, could see: the Grand Madam and ”Miss He Tian,” this mother-in-law and daughter-in-law pair, really did not want He Yi to marry into the Duke Mansion.

No matter how persistently she nagged, it would only embarrass herself and help nothing.

But, this matter was not over!

The Wife of Marquis Yongchang stormed out with He Yi from the main courtyard, heading toward the outer gate.

They had just passed through the garden when they encountered Kang Mo, who had just returned to the mansion.

”Lord’s Wife, Third Lady, so late at night, where are you—” Kang Mo, unaware of the events that had transpired within the house, greeted the Wife of Marquis Yongchang and her daughter as usual.

The Wife of Marquis Yongchang, upon seeing Kang Mo, erupted with fury and blurted out, ”We are going back home! The Duchess was right, our Yi with such good qualities truly deserves a better husband.”

Kang Mo was startled and hurriedly looked at He Yi.

He Yi’s eyes brimmed with tears, her silent sobbing making her appear even more delicate and pitiful.

He Yi, feeling Kang Mo’s gaze, slightly lifted her head, not saying a word, but her eyes filled with deep emotions and grievances.

Kang Mo felt as if his heart was about to break.

Belatedly, the Wife of Marquis Yongchang also noticed something amiss between the two and a thought suddenly struck her...
