The Female Lead Decides to Act Wickedly

Chapter 56: Chapter 056 I am the Evil Sister (Eleven)

”...all right, everything will be done as you say!”

Kang Mo suppressed the abnormality in the depths of his heart and responded faintly.

”By the way, are you really okay?”

As a husband, Kang Mo also did not forget to care about his wife’s health.

However, his gaze kept drifting; he simply did not want to rest it on He Tiantian’s face.

It was an inevitable situation. Although ”He Tian’s” illness had been treated and was improving,

illness strikes like a landslide but recedes like pulling silk. After over a month of torment, this body had become horribly disfigured.

The skin was pale, hair yellow and falling out, the entire person had become nothing but bones.

It was still okay during the day, but if anyone saw this figure at night, they could be scared out of their wits, it was like looking at a cloth-wrapped skeleton.

Kang Mo was not a particularly shallow man, but appreciation for beauty is in human nature.

Even though it was his once-deeply loved wife, now turned into a ghostly figure, Kang Mo might hide it in his expression, but darkness lingered in his heart.

Especially today, having seen the young and radiant He Yi, her skin cream-like, hair cascading like a waterfall, with her delicate face carrying the youthful freshness and vibrancy unique to a young girl; even in her secretive crying, there was a beauty reminiscent of pear flowers bathed in rain.

”He Tian,” however, seemed like dry, withered petals, long bereft of her former beauty and vitality, exuding a depressing air of twilight years.

Suppressing the rejection in his heart, Kang Mo patiently inquired again about his wife’s health before finally getting up to leave.

Before departing, he did not forget to instruct a few maid servants, ”Take good care of the madam. If anything happens, report to me immediately!”

”Yes, Lord Duke!” Nanny Seo, along with several other servant women, respectfully watched as Kang Mo left.

Once Kang Mo was completely out of sight, Nanny Seo joyfully approached the bedside, ”Madam, the Lord Duke cares so much for you.”

He Tiantian hooked her lips up slightly, ”Yes, having a husband like Lord Duke is my fortune!”

Though she said this, she was scoffing inwardly: Hmph, from the moment he stepped in until he left, his eyes never stayed on me — is this what a good husband is?

He was clearly repulsed by me!

However, He Tiantian thought again, and thought Kang Mo was still alright. Regardless of what he thought inside, at least superficially, he was willing to put on an act.

That’s probably what the men of ancient times were like; even if they didn’t love their wives, they would still afford their wives basic respect.

Just didn’t know how long this respect could last!

He Tiantian had not forgotten the subtle interactions between Kang Mo and He Yi.

Putting aside her guesses, just by the fact that the system had not given the ”villain’s fate changed” prompt, He Tiantian could be sure that He Tian hadn’t yet escaped the ”fate” ordained for the villain.

So—

He Tiantian lowered her eyelids, enduring passed the crisis of severe illness, but she hadn’t completely altered ”He Tian’s” ending yet.

Compared to the previous two novel worlds, this novel world was clearly more challenging.

After transmigrating, He Tiantian had fully merged with the body and instantly felt an intangible pressure.

Initially, He Tiantian hadn’t realized it and thought it was just the body being too weak, and being a ghost from another realm, she couldn’t fully control the body immediately, hence the feeling of being shackled and oppressed.

But soon, He Tiantian realized that the pressure she felt was likely not just from the body itself.

It was, it was the power of the plot!

He Tiantian carefully recalled the original plot sent to her by Student Xiao D, yes, unlike the previous experiences, this derived novel world didn’t have any eunuchs.

Of course, it couldn’t be considered a good work either, it had a rushed ending directly!

There was a conclusion, but it was very hasty and irrational, with many foreshadowings and setups from the previous text left unresolved.

This novel world seemed complete, but was unstable. The loopholes left by the author could at any moment cause the novel world to collapse.

So, He Tiantian had to rewrite, even if she couldn’t fill in all the gaps, she still needed to mend the existing storylines to prevent the structure of the novel world from collapsing.

That was going to be tough.

Because the female lead of this novel was He Yi, and the main plotline was her love story with Kang Mo.

He Tian’s existence was meant to provide a somewhat reasonable opportunity for the two to be together, but if she didn’t die, it would be difficult for He Yi and Kang Mo to rightfully be together.

This was different from the previous two worlds.

In the previous two worlds, although He Tiantian was also a villain, she didn’t have a direct conflict of interest with the female lead.

The female lead’s happiness wasn’t built on the death of a malevolent villain.

He Tiantian could completely modify the villain’s life according to her own wishes, deriving new storylines to support the entire novel world.

He Tiantian had a premonition that even if she escaped death, her dangers were far from over.

To maintain the original complete storyline, there was no telling what kind of ”plot assassination” there would be.

It was precisely because of this realization that when He Tiantian asked Student Xiao D to help her cheat, she didn’t request Pills to condition her body or make herself stronger.

Because it was useless; as long as the power of the plot existed, the body of ”He Tian” wouldn’t hope to become healthy or a strong person capable of avoiding sudden crises.

He Tiantian anticipated that she would encounter danger, but she didn’t expect it to come so quickly.

Oh no, that’s not right, this wasn’t something she caused; it was aimed at Duke Wei, Kang Mo.

Before the banquet, He Tiantian was able to get out of bed, still weak but no longer collapsing at the slightest breeze.

Grand Madame then said, ”That day, I made a vow in front of the Bodhisattva at West Mountain Qingyun Temple, and now that you’re getting better, I should go fulfill my vow!”

Since it was a karmic debt owed by Grand Madame as she prayed for her recovery, He Tiantian quickly said, ”Thank you, mother. I will accompany you this time.”

Grand Madam looked at He Tiantian’s condition, and slowly nodded, ”Good, your presence will further demonstrate our sincerity!”

Naturally, as the pillar of the family, Kang Mo had to accompany them.

Choosing an auspicious day suitable for offering incense and fulfilling vows, a group of them set off from Duke Mansion in a grand carriage procession.

They left Capital City, heading towards the temple at West Mountain.

Since it was an auspicious day, there were many pilgrims and tourists offering incense or just visiting.

Among the crowd, a mix of all sorts of people.

Everyone was talking and laughing, frolicking around, creating a lively and bustling scene.

However, He Tiantian, with her strong sixth sense, still sensed that something was off, always feeling as if she were being watched.

As the group ascended the stairs and made their way up the mountain path, when passing through a dense forest, He Tiantian’s feeling grew even stronger.

Whoosh, whoosh!

Arrows shot from the dense forest, targeting Kang Mo.

And He Tiantian, walking by his side, got caught in it too.

The foes were Kang Mo’s! But He Tiantian knew that this might also be a plot assassination intended for her.

After all, the protagonist can’t be killed, but the sacrificial lambs and secondary characters by his side might end up innocently ”boxed.”

She quickly weighed her options in mind, her eyes closely monitoring the surroundings.

She made a quick decision.

So, when another cold arrow flew from a different angle, He Tiantian shouted, ”Lord Duke, watch out!” and forcefully pushed Kang Mo away, turning around to let her back face the oncoming arrow.

Pfft!

The arrow tip pierced into her flesh, and the feather at the tail end trembled slightly on the right side of He Tiantian’s back...
