The Female Lead Decides to Act Wickedly

Chapter 58: Chapter 058 I am the Evil Sister (Thirteen)

”...The injury of the esteemed Madam is indeed somewhat tricky!”

He Tiantian was rather fortunate. When Kang Mo carried her to Qingyun Temple, Master Hui Tong happened to be in the temple.

After taking her pulse and examining the injury, Master Hui Tong first helped to remove the arrow stuck in her back.

Black blood spurted out, emitting a faint stench.

Master Hui Tong’s face was somber as he took a small knife from his medical kit, heated it over a candle flame, and then gently scraped away the necrotic flesh.

It took a full teacup’s worth of necrotic flesh before fresh, red tissue was visible on the wound.

But Master Hui Tong’s expression remained very serious because that seemingly fresh tissue was still tinged with a dark, bruised color.

”Indeed, it’s poison, and an extremely domineering snake poison at that!”

Master Hui Tong sighed, took out an elixir from his treasured white porcelain bottle, and ordered a young monk to dissolve it in warm water, then had Kang Mo feed it to He Tiantian.

”This Detoxification Pill can only be tried; I dare not guarantee it can clear the toxins from the body.”

And if the toxins could not be cleared, He Tiantian had but one fate: death!

Even if the toxins were cleared, He Tiantian might not fully recover.

Her body had not fully healed in the first place, and now she was severely injured and poisoned. The fact that she hadn’t died on the spot already meant she had a strong will to live.

Kang Mo didn’t speak, just grimly fed He Tiantian the medicine.

Of the medicine that was less than a teacupful, He Tiantian swallowed only a small portion, the rest dribbled out from the corners of her mouth.

After taking the medicine, He Tiantian’s complexion still looked quite terrible.

Master Hui Tong then took silver needles and performed acupuncture around the wound, slowly forcing the poison to the surface of the skin through the needle holes.

Fortunately, He Tiantian’s injury was on her back, and Master Hui Tong was a monk well into his seventies. Otherwise, the mere consideration of propriety between men and women could have led He Tiantian to an inevitable death.

As the needles drew out some blackened blood, He Tiantian’s breathing seemed not so weak anymore.

”...I have done all I could; whether it works or not is now up to fate,” said Master Hui Tong as he removed the needles and wiped the sweat from his forehead with a calm sigh.

”Thank you, Master! Whether my wife recovers or not, we at Duke Wei’s Mansion will always be grateful for your kindness,” said Kang Mo, bowing respectfully.

And the Grand Madam, who was sitting in the outer room of the guest quarters, upon hearing these words, set down the prayer beads she had been fingering, rose slowly, and came forward.

As Kang Mo saw Master Hui Tong out to the door of the room, they happened upon the Grand Madam.

The Grand Madam quickly paid her respects: ”We are deeply grateful for today’s efforts, Master. I have just instructed someone to donate a little extra to the temple for the lamp oil money, as a small token of our appreciation!”

Ten thousand Silver was not a large sum, but neither was it small.

Qingyun Temple was not a famous one; its esteem was due mainly to Master Hui Tong’s profound Medical Skill.

Everyone ate grain; even the Nobles could not guarantee that they wouldn’t fall ill.

Should they come across an illness even the Imperial Physicians were helpless against, Master Hui Tong of Qingyun Temple was their last glimmer of hope.

To foster a good karma with Master Hui Tong, Nobles often made the pretext of offering incense to donate to the temple.

Usually, donations amounted to dozens or hundreds of Silver, but if they needed Master Hui Tong’s help, it would increase several fold.

And like the Grand Madam who directly gave ten thousand Silver, that was quite generous.

After all... The Grand Madam glanced at the inner room of the guest quarters, and thinking of her daughter-in-law who was grievously unconscious, mused gloomily: The Bodhisattva of Qingyun Temple didn’t seem very effective either.

Hmm~~

After Kang Mo and Master Hui Tong had left, He Tiantian soon came to.

Her back burned with pain, and her body seemed to be swollen and numb.

She guessed that this was probably a reaction to some kind of snake poison.

He Tiantian took a deep breath, and although Master Hui Tong had said, ”Do your best and leave the rest to fate,” He Tiantian had a feeling that she had once again dodged a bullet.

Now she was back to being bedridden, possibly at death’s door at any moment.

It seemed as though the plot had been redirected back on track, and the constraints she felt from the storyline had lessened considerably.

Of course, if He Tiantian recovered again or failed to provide Kang Mo and He Yi opportunities to be together and fall in love, she would likely face another round of ”plot assassination.”

He Tiantian lowered her eyelids and thought to herself, ”Want me dead? No way!”

In task worlds or in reality, she would fiercely cling to life.

Unless she chose to give up on life, no one could erase her existence, not even what was called the original plot or a dumb system.

He Tiantian took another breath, slowly opened her eyes, and her consciousness entered the space of the book library.

”Student Xiao D, I want to redeem my prize!”

He Tiantian communicated with Student Xiao D using her mind.

The request from He Tiantian was so abrupt that Student Xiao D was caught off guard and blurted out, ”Prize? What prize?”

He Tiantian: ... just as I thought, Student Xiao D is an idiot, but it refuses to admit it!

Student Xiao D: ”You’re calling me an idiot again! Boo hoo, you just change topics too quickly, and it couldn’t keep up!”

Who would have guessed that after He Tiantian’s near-death experience, her first reaction was to ask for a reward.

”...” He Tiantian didn’t say anything and just silently ”stared” at Student Xiao D with her consciousness.

Student Xiao D couldn’t bear the pressure and quickly put on a smile, with its fluffy body obsequiously floating around, ”Alright, alright, I get it!”

Student Xiao D hurriedly activated the program and redeemed the Beauty Enhancement Pill from the prize box.

The moment He Tiantian withdrew her consciousness from the space of the book library, she felt something being thrust into her palm.

Despite having experienced adventures such as book-crossing, the sensation of virtual prizes turning into real objects still amazed He Tiantian.

...This Dian Niang System was somewhat interesting after all!

He Tiantian thought to herself as she lifted the pill in her palm to her eyes.

Upon closer inspection, the so-called Beauty Enhancement Pill was not large, about the size of the often seen candy, Mentos.

Er, what now, once such a whimsical idea popped into her mind, the more He Tiantian looked at the elixir, the more it resembled a Mentos.

He Tiantian shook her head slightly, casting aside the messy thoughts in her mind.

Without hesitation, she popped the Mentos—no, the Beauty Enhancement Pill—into her mouth.

The pill wasn’t very large and turned into a liquid upon contact with saliva.

Gulp!

He Tiantian swallowed instinctively, and the medicine flowed down her esophagus.

Then, unbeknownst to He Tiantian, her appearance underwent a tremendous change—

Her sparse and yellowing hair became black and lustrous again, her parched skin regained a glow, and although still pale, it wasn’t an unhealthy pallor but a cold white.

Her thin figure remained slim but was no longer the terrifying sight of skin and bones.

...Now, under the effect of the Beauty Enhancement Pill, He Tiantian had transformed from a walking skeleton into an overly thin but sickly beauty.

Fragile, yet still stunningly beautiful!
