The Golem Mage

”Do you mean that there’s a possibility of losing the Amulet or the Primordial Tree?” Alec turned to the system spirit, his fingers gently caressing the whiny Amulet against his cheek.

The system spirit shook its head reassuringly.

”Nah, you and the Amulet are bound by blood, so anyone else who tries to use or hold it would never experience anything positive from it and would just think of it as an ordinary necklace you cherish, furthermore, there is very little information available about the Primordial Tree, so your life is not in jeopardy as due to the limited knowledge about the Primordial Tree they won’t even realise it resides inside another Artifact now...”

The system spirit paused briefly before continuing,

”But there is one confirmed piece of information about it though, when one is bonded with the Primordial Tree, the bond extends beyond that of master and plant, if the master is killed, the Primordial Tree will disappear and take a significant amount of time to return, throughout history, its selection of a master has been an enigma, defying the comprehension of humans so if word of you having it goes out, they would only want to exploit you not kill you.”

Alec absorbed this information, feeling a sense of relief wash over him.

”What brings me comfort is knowing that you can cultivate the tree more efficiently with the system, Otherwise, you would have had to wait hundreds of years to make the progress you’ve achieved now,” the system spirit reassured him.

The thought of waiting for such an extensive period made Alec cringe, solidifying his gratitude for the assistance of the system.

He then began to believe that no one could be more compatible with the Primordial Tree than himself.

However, another thought emerged in Alec’s mind, branching off in a different direction.

He couldn’t help but notice that the system seemed to have slight presence even inside the Amulet space, moreover, its ability to influence a tree that had been active since primordial times surprised him.

These realizations made him question the true identity of the system spirit also.

’Who was this system spirit, possessing an extensive knowledge of ancient topics? What was the system, and who or what had created it? How was it linked to his own reincarnation? ’

Alec had an overwhelming number of unanswered questions swirling in his mind, leaving him in a state of curiosity and intrigue.

All he knew was that system points were the most valuable currency for a system host.

”What are you waiting for?, Quickly devour a soul so I can witness the power of your bloodline,” the system spirit urged Alec, snapping him out of his reverie.

Alec looked on in shock but nodded, his curiosity piqued about the potential gains from the bloodline he had awakened during his second awakening.

This time, he didn’t inspect the space ring as he had done initially; he already had a clear image of what he desired in his mind, so with a strand of his Mana sent at the space ring, he summoned one of the wolf souls from his ring.

The light blue soul, in the form of a wolf, materialized on his open palm, playfully bouncing around.

Alec’s expression changed at that moment, as he felt a deep, hidden urge within him beckoning him to devour the small, adorable soul, he experienced a profound hunger like never before—not a physical hunger, but one emanating from his bloodline, crying out for sustenance, and its desired nourishment was the soul playfully jumping on his hand.

”Devour!!!!!” The deep, ancient voice within him persisted, compelling Alec until he opened his mouth wide and pushed the blue light into his mouth, sucking in the soul, he closed his eyes as his lips made contact with the soul, overwhelmed by the pleasure he felt.

Alec couldn’t comprehend why or how he was doing it; he just instinctively knew this was the correct approach.

He continued to suck the soul dry until it vanished into his mouth.

His eyes remained closed as he felt as if he had quenched a thousand-year-old hunger.

His entire body tingled with satisfaction, as he felt invigorated as the energy extracted from the soul coursed through his body, even with his eyes closed, Alec could feel his blood surging, his muscles and organs voraciously absorbing every bit of energy the soul had to offer.

After a few seconds, he found himself once again in his Microcosmic Universe.

In the midst of his microcosmic universe, Alec was positioned in the center as usual.

His gaze fixated on the immense fireball that pulsated like a beating heart, one half veiled in black flames and the other half engulfed by red flames.

On the opposite side, a mountain adorned with various gemstones and revolving crystals caught his attention, however, Alec did not descend to inspect his affinities symbols. Instead, his purpose was to observe the Devourer Beast Bloodline symbol, emitting a radiant glow with intricate engravings of different demonic beast faces on it.

He saw something that seemed to be taking shape around the symbol, but Alec sensed that it lacked the necessary energy for a complete transformation.

With that realization, he severed his connection with the microcosmic universe, abruptly returning to his physical body.

A loud bang resonated through the room as Alec fell straight to the ground.

Pulling himself up, he instinctively touched the back of his head with his left hand, mindful of the impact from the sudden descent.

He had been floating during his journey within the microcosmic universe, which had caught him off guard as he cut his connection without preparations.

The system spirit, who was eagerly anticipating Alec’s return to gather information, was taken aback by Alec’s immediate extraction of another soul and rapid consumption, this time without a trace of hesitation on his face.

”Wait! Tell me what happened first!” the system spirit urgently requested.

However, before the spirit could receive an answer, Alec closed his eyes once again, leaving the spirit without any explanation.

”Fuck!” The system spirit cursed

Alec delved back into the microcosmic universe, noticing that the entity revolving around the Devourer Bloodline was now completing its transformation with the new soul energy, before him stood a small black wolf cub, seemingly peacefully asleep.

Guided by an unknown force, the cub circled effortlessly around the bloodline symbol, it was at this moment that Alec observed the infusion of soul energy into the cub’s body, locating which part of the body was still in a incomplete state.

The soul energy that was absorbed by the cub was evident being pushed to shaped it’s tail.

Intrigued by the ongoing process, Alec watched attentively, as the cub’s body reached full completion after the tail was fully formed, and it opened its little eyes, and in that split second, Alec was struck by a sharp pain that severed his connection with the microcosmic universe forcing him to his physical form.

Despite landing gracefully this time, Alec couldn’t ignore the sharp pain piercing through his chest, Alarmed, he tore his clothes open, desperate to understand the cause of this disturbance in his being.
