The Golem Mage

Alec jolted awake from his sleep, the intensity of his recent deaths leaving an unpleasant sensation in his mind.

It was his fourth time dying in the second level of the Beast Forest, and the experience was far from enjoyable.

He placed his left hand over the left side of his face, sighing in relief as he felt the warmth and reassurance of his own touch, it had been a while since he had faced the challenges of the second level, and his arrogance had led him to believe that he and his team of golems could take on a Tier 5 demonic beast there, unfortunately he met one with a pack.

His defeat served as a harsh reminder of just how far he was from being ready to face a Tier 6 Mage or lifeform.

The Alpha shadow wolf, is a Tier 5 demonic beast capable of demonstrating the powers of a newly promoted Tier 6 mage, and he had toyed with Alec throughout the fight, as It spun him around, gave him false hope, only to ultimately crushed him and his golems without even using it’s full powers.

The thought of his fallen golems triggered panic within Alec, causing him to quickly attempt to establish a connection with them.

Fortunately, the link with all his golems remained intact, albeit weakened by due to their injuries.

”Still a long way to go before I can defeat a Tier 6 without tricks,” Alec murmured in his sweat-drenched state, expressing gratitude that his golems had survived, they would just need some time to rest and recuperate in the space pouch.

After settling his thoughts, Alec finally decided to open his system and see what rewards he had obtained.

[+137,970 experience points]

[Golem: Sword Saint levelled up]

[Golem: Tempest Butcher levelled up]

[20 Shadow Wolf Souls Acquired]

Alec couldn’t help but feel a surge of joy at how quickly he had been able to accumulate experience points from one run in the second level, he felt if he could reach a stage where he could effortlessly defeat the Tier 5 demonic creatures there, then he would be able to level up at a much faster pace in the mid-rank stages.

As he would be able to accumulate the experience needed more rapidly by eliminating the Tier 5 and Tier 4 demonic beast on the second level, and he would also benefit from cultivation pills acquired through the Primordial Tree’s refinement of their corpses.

A smile spread across Alec’s face as he felt a renewed sense of brightness in his future.

Not only had he gained a considerable amount of experience points, but he also noticed that his golems, the Sword Saint and the Tempest Butcher, had each levelled up by one.

Although they had not yet reached the stage of entering another realm, Alec was content that they were making progress towards higher level like Titan and Legion.

The Sword Saint had faced a challenging task in keeping the teasing Alpha shadow wolf occupied while waiting for reinforcements.

Despite losing his hand in the battle and enduring severe injuries, Alec knew that every part of his body would be fully restored within an hour by staying in the space pouch.

It was one of the pouch’s remarkable functions, a treasure bestowed upon Alec by his grandfather, Alec always marvelled at the fact that such an incredible item was not something easily crafted, pondering how his grandfather had come into possession of it.

While Alec could easily account for the situation regarding the Sword Saint and understand why it had levelled up, he struggled to recall the specific actions of the Tempest Butcher.

Nevertheless, he knew that the Butcher must have either eliminated or provided significant support in the killing a lot of the shadow wolves, allowing its experience points to reach the level-up stage.

Considering that the Butcher controlled lightning and storms, Alec believed it made sense that the wolves’ shadow sneak attacks would have been ineffective against it.

Having clarified these thoughts, Alec shifted his attention to the last set of notifications, feeling stunned by the presence of souls in his loot.

Although he was aware that Oni was knowledgeable about dealing with souls, he was surprised to see this kind of loot among his possessions.

Throughout his hunting in the first level, he had never acquired such items, making him unable to comprehend why he was receiving them now.

Curiosity piqued, Alec sent a few strands of mana into his space ring, where the soul-related items had been stored.

As he closed his eyes and delved into the space ring with his consciousness, the first things that flooded his mind were the various valuable treasures and loot he had acquired.

Alec couldn’t help but smile at the thought of having such vast resources stored within his space ring.

Although he had momentarily forgotten about them due to his fascination with the concept of souls, but the feeling of possessing treasures like cultivation pills and random spell card that ordinary wealth could never acquire was truly satisfying.

However, he tore his eyes away from the treasures, focusing on finding the shadow wolf souls.

As he observed the ring space, he noticed twenty light blue flickering lights in the shape of wolves lingering around the corner of his space ring.

In that moment, Alec felt an overwhelming urge to devour them all, despite only using his consciousness to examine them, the intensity of his reaction prompted him to hastily retract his awareness from the depths of the space ring.

Seeking answers, Alec called forth the system spirit golem from his pouch and patiently waited for the system spirit to inhabit the golem shell that had been created for it.

As soon as the golem appeared to come to life, Alec bombarded it with a barrage of questions.

”What the hell was that?” Alec questioned, perplexed by his own experiences.

With a dismissive click of its tongue, the system spirit replied,

”Tch! Feisty, aren’t we?, Don’t tell me you still don’t understand what caused that reaction or why the system helped retrieve the soul of the fallen beast after you prematurely died in the Amulet world and were unable to retrieve it yourself.”

Observing Alec’s perplexed expression, the system spirit realized that Alec was still lost in understanding.

”What am I supposed to have in common with souls?, I thought that was Oni’s department,” Alec asked, his hands thrown wide in confusion.

The system spirit nodded, acknowledging his question.

”Well, your bloodline’s power involves devouring souls to activate, you should be able to comprehend it now, and if you still struggle to grasp it, simply devour a soul from the demonic beast souls you acquire, and you will gain all the knowledge you desire, as your bloodline needs soul to fully develop”

Pausing for a moment, the system spirit added,

”I must say, you are incredibly lucky, not only have you obtained an object from the Primordial era, but you also found the Primordial Tree and bounded it to you mistakenly, Though it may be weakened now, but if the mere rumour of you possessing the Primordial Tree leak, it would trigger countless old monsters that have secluded themselves to come out as they wouldn’t hesitate to topple your entire academy just to get you.”

”And now you have awakened a Primordial bloodline, Forget about supreme elements, supreme special abilities or mythical bloodlines; none of them come close to a Primordial bloodline when it has fully awaken, It’s as if someone is paving your path to greatness, I believe your good luck began when you found the damaged Primordial Artifact, hiding its true form to deceive the Chronomancer,” the system spirit explained, filling Alec with shock and disbelief.

Alec had never imagined that the bloodline he awakened was anything significant, considering his inability to activate it.

He had mistakenly believed it to be a useless trait, but now, he realized that it might just be an incredible blessing, one that had only become possible because he had become the new master of the Amulet.

Gazing down at the Amulet resting on his chest, Alec couldn’t help but feel a deep connection to it.

Softly, he kissed the Amulet and called it, ”Baby,”

And it emitted faint sounds, as if in response to Alec’s affectionate gesture.
