The Golem Mage

”That’s because someone couldn’t help shouting, ’I’m the third Elder of the Gordons clan,’” the patriarch rebuked his brother.

He criticized him sternly, although deep down, he missed him dearly and had been terrified when he lay on his deathbed, and there were even plans to eliminate many in order to follow him in the afterlife.

However, at present, all he wanted was to reinforce the number one rule of their clan in his brother’s head and hope that this time he would listen and not attempt to show off again.

”Sorry about that, I was just a little carried away,” the third Elder responded with a weak smile, realizing he had no valid argument. In that moment, he had indeed shouted without thinking, driven by the desire for others to realize that the Gordons clan should not be underestimated.

As despite being attacked and besieged by two Tier 8 mages, many believed he would not rise again.

Yet, not only did he prove the doubters wrong by recovering, but he emerged even stronger than before.

This compelled him to convey to the conniving and deceitful clans that are hiding there intentions in the shadows, that the Gordons’ true power had been replenished and they would continue to reign over them.

”No, you were not carried away, that was exactly what you intended to do,” the Gordons patriarch asserted. ”I just hope you won’t forget that our number one rule is to always remain hidden, along with the true strength we possess.”

The third Elder slightly bowed in acknowledgment to the patriarch words.

”Well, currently our clan is undeniably the strongest in Estonia city, and we’re not the only ones aware of this fact, although I would have preferred our clan continue to keep a low profile, but you ensured that was no longer possible,” the patriarch exclaimed.

”I don’t know why, but I have a feeling that the city lord will soon attempt to exploit this advantage,” he continued.

”Most of the hidden clans only have one high-ranking mage, yet we already boast three Tier 7 mages, furthermore, there are even some who already doubt that the fourth elder may also be of high rank.”

”That old and insecure man at the city hall will undoubtedly try to take advantage of the situation now,” the patriarch explained with a heavy sigh.

”He wouldn’t hesitate to engage us in a bloodbath if the threat of the space gates escalates to a high ranking one.”

”But I have already decimated most of Tier 6 ranking goblins; that should be enough to push them back and restore some fortune to this city,” the third elder chimed in.

Surprisingly, it was the grand elder who responded instead of the patriarch.

”Unlike most races, the goblinoids’ most formidable characteristic is not their individual power, but rather their staggering numbers,” the grand elder explained.

”Believe it or not, they have droves of replacements awaiting their fallen comrades, while these replacements may not be their first choice to lead a war, the deteriorating Estonia city will inevitably crumble and lose again, rendering your efforts futile.”

”And since you have ascended to the Tier 7 realm, my friend, there is no way you can repeat what you have done. Therefore, the city faces the same predicament it did before, when it struggled to overcome ordinary goblins,” the grand elder concluded.

The grand elder shook his head in dismay, sensing that the city’s core had been severely damaged by the acceptance of new clans.

It was not just because the city had fallen due to these clans, but also because their presence had resulted in an increase in the power to the spatial gate energy, further complicating matters.

This increase in population was a means for the evil gods to level the playing field for their Abyss races.

With a growing number of enemies to contend with, the city had struggled to find a proper strategy for battle.

They charged in without tactics and lacked talented leaders, causing their army to crumble each time, given that the goblins outnumbered them by a ratio of at least three to one, the gravity of the city’s dire situation sank in for everyone present.

”But, don’t you think we should at least help the city? We’ve already sacrificed so much for it,” the first elder proposed.

”Why should we aid a city lord who is scheming against us?” the patriarch retorted fiercely.

”That old man wanted to upgrade his city to a high-grade one, so he discarded my request and discarded our friendship, all in the pursuit of recognition from a clan and nation that couldn’t care less about him.”

”He forgot that in order to have a high-tier city, one must possess the power to match its population, at this moment, I can assure you that even the capital won’t be able to provide assistance by sending him new guards, he is entirely reliant on the clans within this city to help defend against the Blood Moon,” the patriarch explained solemnly.

”So, he would either attempts to win our support favourably or resorts to scheming against us to provoke a fight,” the second elder, whose face was still concealed in darkness, grimly added.

”Yes, he would do that, He won’t come begging for my help because he knows I won’t assist him after he ignored my request, I have a thirst for revenge, so he will resort to scheming. That is precisely why I wanted us to conceal our true strengths. No one, I repeat, no one should be aware of the full extent of our clan’s power.

Otherwise, we would be left without any cards to play if they decide to attack us with support from the outside, just as they attempted to eliminate Alec at the banquet, now that I think about it, it was the dark guild that was hired when old Third got injured,” the patriarch explained, his voice fading as the lights slowly dimmed.

Elsewhere in the city hall residence, the city lord could be seen walking, accompanied by Alistair, a highly respected mage and his son.

The day the third elder of the Gordon clan broke through to the Tier 7 Mage Realm, it sent shockwaves throughout the city.

Many had anticipated his downfall after his coma state, but his ascent now appeared unstoppable, akin to the rise of a phoenix.

However, it wasn’t solely his unstoppable rise that concerned them; it was the intense energy emanating from his body during the breakthrough.

He was incredibly powerful and had conjured what appeared to be a figure shrouded in a golden aura as his mental image, obscuring its face.

All these factors left the city lord with an unsettling feeling regarding the calmness of the Gordons and their escalating strength.
