Alec finally had a chance to access the system interface again as he entered the city where he and his team were supposed to meet, however, what he saw was quite shocking to him.

The newly awaken black flame had been classified as a power under the fire element, leaving Alec unsure of its nature.

But if any member of the Ancient Blaze Clan were to learn that Alec had awakened the black flame and was so nonchalant about it, they might just react with anger and jealousy, given that many of them had been practicing flame techniques ever since awakening at the age of 15 and having the best fire core or unique flame power stone to cultivate with.

Despite being bred in the ancient Blaze Clan and taught the proper way to harness their fire element, a child they had once called a bastard and cast out of their clan gate while still being an infant in his mother’s arms had now awakened one of the special variant flames their clan desires .

Alec’s achievement was like a slap in the face to their clan, in fact, there had been someone else who had awakened the black flame in the ancient Blaze Clan before— Alec’s rumoured deceased father, Rae Blaze, who was said to have had three variant flames, a man called the most talented in blaze history.

However, after being in a locked space passage news of his demise spread , and ever since the no one else had been able to awaken the black flames.

Despite the potential anger that would happen if the Blaze Clan learn of the black flames Alec had awakened, Alec was more interested in something else entirely—his newly awakened bloodline power.

He had heard of clans draining mythical creatures to steal their bloodline powers, allowing them and their descendants to awaken the bloodline from them.

This practice was common among most warrior clans, including the Dragonmir clan, which it’s members absorbed various dragons’ blood that they seem to have affinity with to awaken their bloodline abilities.

However, Alec was aware that neither the Blaze clan nor the Gordons clan had engaged in the bloodline path, not even slightly.

Therefore, he could only attribute this newly acquired bloodline to a connection with the beast forest scroll, given the similarities in their imagery, he also noticed that there was a number attached to this new power, but for now, he still knew nothing about it and was unable to activate it.

Despite his best efforts to summon its power, driven by an overwhelming curiosity to use the new abilities he had just awakened, the Devourer Beast bloodline remained unresponsive to Alec, which was quite disheartening.

So he decided to focus on other details that were more pressing at the moment, Alec noted that the system interface seemed to have undergone an upgrade, Previously, the skills did not appear here; he had to exit the status tab and search for his skills separately.

But now that the skills had been integrated into the system tab panel, and it was much easier to check all his skills at once.

His gaze lingered on the Golem Skill Assimilation, and he smiled.

Since he had chosen the path of the blade and sword, he had rarely used this skill, which allowed him to execute the weapon mastery skills of his golems if he concentrated. But now, it seemed that the skill had advanced alongside him.

Although there were still two blank spaces behind the skill, but according to the system’s workings, the level of the Golem Skill Assimilation changed depending on the skill he selected, the level the golem whose skill was pick had trained the skill to is what be reflected in the blank space, so until he uses one of his golems skill, it would remain blank.

After reviewing all this, Alec smiled and stretched his arms behind his back as he closed the system panel.

”Now it’s time to find my group since I’m done with my solo training,” Alec murmured to himself, however, the next moment, an attack was launched at him.

Without bothering to turn around, Alec was confident that the attack would not reach him, as the four figures walking with him, disguised and blending in, were his golems.

As the attack drew nearer, Butcher sprang into action, being the closest to the threat, soon he had a sparkling electric short axe positioned at the assailant’s throat before they could get close.

With just one movement of his elemental hand holding the axe against the assailant’s throat, the attacker would be dead.

”Come on, it’s me, Butcher! I was just trying to surprise the captain with my new moves,” the assailant said, removing his mask to reveal his face, allowing Alec to recognize him as Knight.

Alec sighed in relief while Butcher lowered his axe, he sighed because he had been lost trying to locate the restaurant where they had agreed to meet, Alec was notoriously bad with directions when alone, which was why he usually had Legion by his side.

But he couldn’t even remember the name of the restaurant, which left him wandering aimlessly in search of his team.

Until Knight found him, and now Alec was about to turn Knight into his navigator.

”It’s so good to see you!” Knight said with a small smile on his face.

”Let’s go, they’re all waiting,” Knight said before Alec could reply.

So Alec was waiting for him to shadow travel him, but Knight too is waiting for Alec too.

”Unsummon your golems,” Knight instructed when he saw Alec’s dazed look.

Alec : ”¬”

Alec gave him a puzzled look.

”Oni can carry over five people with his shadow travel, why does it seem like you haven’t grown?” Alec said, while Knight’s pout at his lack of a sense of humour.

They bickered back and forth until Alec sent his golems back into the pouch, and Knight touched him, and their shadows rose from the ground, swallowed them up, and then receded into the earth , disappearing with them as if they had never been there.

”Look who finally decided to show up?” Beatrice said with a smile the moment Alec appeared in the room with Knight, before he could respond, he was crowded by most members of the team, who gave him long bear hugs.

”What are we still waiting for? Let’s go back to the academy; I’ve missed my bed!” Arthur exclaimed as they all prepared to head back.

”No, we won’t be heading back to the Academy just yet, because I have some goodies for you guys, however, you’ll have to wait until tomorrow to receive them, but for today, we feast and celebrate our survival. Come on, dig into your savings and spend like there’s no tomorrow, because starting from tomorrow, we return to being mere students at the War God Mage Academy,” Alec announced.

Though they were puzzled by Alec’s reluctance to return to the Academy immediately, they were still thrilled at the prospect of celebrating. After all, they had been on back-to-back missions without a break, so the idea of letting off some steam was more than welcome.
