The Golem Mage

The moment Alec pressed the button, everyone in the car was jolted backward as the car’s speed exceeded their expectations.

In an instant, Alec disappeared from the view of the red truck.

Making the driver slammed his hand against the steering wheel in frustration , but no matter how much he complained and cursed, he knew couldn’t catch up to Alec anymore after all he had also engaged the boost from the red button to catch up with them already, his only shot had been to take both of them out before they escaped.

Alec only used the button because he realized he was nearing the end of the race, and with only two cars ahead of him, he knew it was time to activate the boost as he didn’t want to fall behind in the top three.

Although he hadn’t achieved the first place he had hoped for, but securing a spot in the top three was enough to keep his team safe from the game’s restrictions as they searched for information about the Chronomancer.

However, as he raced at full speed toward the finish line, something peculiar caught Alec’s eye.

The car belonging to the female mage, who had been leading, appeared to be trapped in what seemed like a spacetime distortion.

Beside the road, the female mage and her crew stood, as a member of theirs who hadn’t managed to escape the car before it became stuck in the warp was stuck with the car.

”Get out of the car now!” Alec immediately commanded, flinging open the driver’s side door and swiftly ejecting himself from the vehicle.

Fortunately, they had enough time to evacuate before the truck careened into the warp and became ensnared.

As Alec peered ahead, he noticed another truck on the opposite side that had successfully crossed the distortion, sparking his curiosity.

”My name is Alec, do you know how that car managed to cross to the other side?, cause we need to secure a spot in the top three before the others catch up,” Alec inquired, the female mage and what remained of her team regarding him with weary smiles.

The rest of her team was too exhausted to explain things to him, but the female mage took it upon herself to shed some light on the situation.

”Top three? (She chuckled), There is no top three when he’s in the lead, This race has been a sham from the beginning, it’s not about making it into the top three; it’s about defeating the number one racer, the Chronomancer, he’s the driver of the golden thunderstorm truck,”

The lady revealed, as Alec noticed someone emerging from the front of the golden monster truck, causing everyone else on his truck to vanish like dust, which means they have never been real.

”And how are we supposed to secure a spot in the top three if he crosses the finish line ahead of us?, The Chronomancer always obstructs the finish line with a time warp. Only when a driver as skilled as him emerges and surpasses him can they truly break free from the curse he’s placed on this city,” the lady concluded.

A sudden realization washed over Alec.

The top three position was merely a facade, as it seems the only way to win this race was to cross the finish line first and defeat the Chronomancer as he would not allow anyone to cross the finish line if he finished first so that makes the rest of the Top 3 invalid as they never really cross the line ,

And standing before him was the very person he had been searching for, it all now became clear to Alec why the city seemed eerily empty—it had all been manipulated by the Chronomancer to serve as his gaming ground.

”We’ve been looking for you, Mr. Chronomancer!” Alec shouted, causing the female mage to pale and quickly retreat from Alec and his team.

The Chronomancer, who had been on the other side of the time warp, the one they have been looking for, have been they finally identified, as he turned to face them, revealing a mask adorning his face.

”You’ve been looking for me, i have no business with all of you, since you’ve challenged me and lost, you’ll all be trapped in a time freeze here like the rest of the city,” the Chronomancer uttered in a robotic voice, as he began walking away.

However, a peculiar sound caught his attention, causing him to turn back and witness Alec hurling a type of time spell array scroll at the warp, resulting in its destruction.

”Get him!”

Alec commanded, swiftly jumping into his car and accelerating towards the finish line while the res kept him busy.

The Chronomancer attempted to impede the car’s progress, but Lucas, Brandon, and Arthur had already closed in on him.

As the Chronomancer stepped back, he unleashed a formidable Tier 5 aura.

”Stop him before he can cast a spell,” Lucas instructed, swinging his sword and releasing a powerful onslaught of sword Qi, as despite their restricted mana, their Qi could still be utilised as it remained intact.

”You pests are making me angry,” the Chronomancer’s voice seethed as he assumed a defensive stance and advanced towards them.
