Chapter 1426: Chapter 48: One Shot

A bullet flickering with lightning flint was fired, effortlessly penetrating the glass window, flying towards the Flower Tree Restaurant.

The bullet dragged a stream of blue light behind it and, after penetrating the walls of the Flower Tree Restaurant, flew towards the target, Du Bo Yi Si’s head.

From Bubu Wang detonating the alchemy bomb, the assistant creating chaos, to the bullet punching through the wall, the total time was 2.53 seconds.

The 19.67mm thunder attribute bullet flew at extreme speed, with only two people in the banquet hall reacting: one was Buck, and the other was a woman with a scarred face.

The scarface woman leaped forward, lunging at Du Bo Yi Si, but judging by her speed, she was obviously a bit slow.

Buck slashed forward with the short axe in his right hand, the ground beneath his feet cracking.

Boom!

A concave pit about three meters in diameter appeared on the ground, with an unfathomably deep hole at its center.

Blood splattered on the scarface woman’s face, the familiar scent of blood twisting her expression.

The scarface woman tackled Du Bo Yi Si to the ground, or rather, she knocked Du Bo Yi Si’s lower half to the ground, while the upper half had already splattered and flew around.

With one shot, Du Bo Yi Si’s upper body was directly shattered. Buck sensed the bullet, but unfortunately, the speed of the thunder attribute bullet was simply too fast.

Boom, boom!

Two more shots, two yellow lights flew into the Flower Tree Restaurant.

The yellow lights, like pile drivers, sank into the ground, causing a tremor — this was earth attributed ammunition.

The outer walls of the entire Flower Tree Restaurant were covered in cracks, likely to collapse at any moment.

After the rumbling, screams echoed inside the Flower Tree Restaurant, and previously elegant guests instinctively rushed outward, women screaming.

The Flower Tree Restaurant could collapse at any time; the assistant had already reached the kitchen. She pulled out a black cloth bag from a cupboard, filled with guns and explosives.

With a ripping sound, the assistant tore off the hem of her black gauze skirt, strapping holsters with pistols attached to her thighs.

”That was quite an enjoyable evening.”

The assistant took a smoke bomb from the black cloth bag, just about to pull the ring when the kitchen door opened, and several men and women rushed in.

These men and women had just rushed into the kitchen when a pistol was pointed at them.

”It’s you...”

Orlando froze for a moment, instinctively retreating.

The assistant ignored Orlando, slid the pistol back into the thigh holster, and pulled the ring on the smoke bomb in her hand.

”Bang!”

The assistant tossed the smoke bomb towards Orlando and the others, who screamed in terror, while Orlando, having decent nerves, stuck to the wall.

The acrid smoke spread, and the assistant dashed out the back door.

Bam!

The door at the front side of the kitchen was kicked open, and Buck, wielding double short axes, walked into the kitchen, his gaze sweeping over the people inside, then quickly rushed towards the back door.

Buck did not pursue Su Xiao, or rather, he knew he couldn’t catch up with Su Xiao, so Buck settled for pursuing the assistant.

It’s not that Buck completely gave up on pursuing Su Xiao and let him leave Ambela City; it’s that someone else was already pursuing Su Xiao. That person’s frontal combat strength couldn’t compare to Buck’s, but her tracking ability ranked in the top ten within the Sun Kingdom.

Two minutes later, in a dark alley.

Boom!

The wall shattered as a figure burst through—it was Buck.

The assistant stood inside the alley, forced into a dead end, pursued by Buck, a man as strong as a monster, leaving her no chance to escape.

Buck stood at the alley entrance, gazing at the assistant, while his metallic teeth reflected cold light under the moonlight.

”Huff, huff...”

The assistant gasped heavily, her arm hanging limply, blood flowing down her pale cheek; her situation was desperate, she couldn’t escape.

Four black shadows leaped down from the top of the building, landing in the alley.

With a cracking sound, a wooden stick, flying from an unknown source, hit Buck on the head, leaving him dazed for a moment. He hadn’t sensed where the attack came from.

Boom!

The sound of gunfire echoed. Buck blocked the incoming bullet with his short axe. It was a shot fired by the assistant.

Four Icefield Wolves stood before the assistant, with the Scar Eye Icefield Wolf baring its teeth, silently approaching Buck. When an Icefield Wolf truly wants to tear an enemy apart, it won’t growl.

Buck touched the spot where he’d been hit, though he felt no pain, yet the attack was extraordinarily bizarre.

Buck eyed the Scar Eye Icefield Wolf, knowing he could handle creatures from the Extreme North, but it would take some time.

A red signal flare ascended from the east side of Ambela City, exploding thunderously.

Buck glanced at the assistant before stepping into the night. He actually had two choices: one, spend time dealing with the four Icefield Wolves, then capture the assistant alive.

As for the second choice, he could abandon the assistant to pursue the main perpetrator. The red signal flare indicated a request for help, meaning the party chasing Su Xiao suffered heavy losses.

Between the assistant and Su Xiao, Buck didn’t need to consider much; he decisively chose to pursue Su Xiao. He hadn’t yet settled scores with Su Xiao, and as for the now-dead Du Bo Yi Si, Buck felt somewhat disappointed from a personal standpoint. He had warned Du Bo Yi Si not to attend the banquet, but Du Bo Yi Si had refused.

If Du Bo Yi Si had truly heeded Buck’s advice, killing him would have been difficult for Su Xiao. Once Du Bo Yi Si attended the banquet, aided by the inside-out cooperation of Su Xiao, Bubu Wang, and the assistant, Du Bo Yi Si undoubtedly would face death over life. Without Buck present, Su Xiao would have acted as soon as Du Bo Yi Si appeared, without waiting until now.

Buck disappeared into the night, and the assistant staggered a few steps, severe blood loss causing her to feel dizzy.

Bubu Wang appeared on a trash can, it was he who hit Buck on the head earlier with that stick. Even though the long-range strike didn’t injure Buck, it indeed made him cautious.

Bubu Wang gestured to the Scar Eye Icefield Wolf to carry the assistant. The reluctant younger brother still carried the assistant, disappearing together with Bubu Wang into the night.

Buck, holding short axes, traversed through the night quickly, soon reaching the area near where the signal flare was fired.

Several vintage car wrecks were scattered on the street, all the cars were severed, and sparks ignited the gasoline, with flames blazing on the street.

Upon seeing the smooth cuts on the car remains, Buck already knew whose handiwork it was.

”Ba... Buck.”

A weak female voice called out, Buck rushed into a clothing store by the street, finding a woman covered in blood leaning against the bar. Her left arm was severed, while her right hand clutched her throat, blood gushing out between her fingers. She was the scarface woman, one of Du Bo Yi Si’s guards.

”Person... in, East City, follow the Morning Light Butterfly.”

Light particles poured from the scarface woman’s mouth, gradually forming a butterfly; the butterfly flapped its wings, scattering pristine light powder.

Buck nodded and turned to rush out of the clothing store.

”Wait.”

The scarface woman removed her hand from her throat, a torrent of blood spurted out, her throat sliced open by a third.

”Give me a merciful end.”

The scarface woman lifted her shirt with her solitary arm, revealing her chest almost entirely caved in, as though struck by a train.

”Organs completely devastated, there’s no saving me. Watch out for that guy’s side kick, even a tank collision wouldn’t have such an impact.”

Buck silently approached the scarface woman, raising the short axe in his hand.

Squish!

Blood splattered as Buck walked out of the clothing store, his axe still dripping with fresh blood.
