Chapter 1409: Chapter 31: I’m Not Your Type

Inside a trench built with concrete and patterned steel.

This trench is three meters wide, forming a staircase shape at the front, and the rear consists of shallow holes that serve as air raid shelters to evade enemy bombings.

The dark trench emits snoring sounds. The stench of feet mixed with the scent of blood permeates the air as some soldiers, with blood-stained bandages wrapped around their heads, are deep in slumber, while others are muttering to themselves, and some are even kneeling down to pray.

”God of Dawn in my heart, please forgive my wickedness...”

The aide places one hand on her chest, murmuring prayers under her breath. More convincingly, she is speaking in a dialect from a small place in the Sun Kingdom.

”Female soldier, if I’m not mistaken, your hometown is Wuya Fan.”

A deputy-chief of the Sun Kingdom sits beside the aide, his demeanor quite friendly.

”Hmm?”

The aide just washed her face, and under the distant reflection of light, her skin appears fair and delicate.

The deputy-chief nods and smiles, revealing a gap-toothed mouth. Earlier in the day, he was hit by the impact of a shell’s blast wave, slamming his head against the concrete trench, breaking half a front tooth.

Looking at the aide’s pretty face, the deputy-chief’s heart races a bit. After so many battles, not to mention a good-looking aide, as long as it’s female, it can ignite the flames of desire within this deputy-chief.

The two chat more familiarly, which is the main reason Su Xiao brought the aide along. She is well-acquainted with the situation in the Sun Kingdom, and with the blue-colored contact lenses on, she won’t be easily recognized.

This deputy-chief, around twenty-six or seven years old, starts flirting, while the aide is quite talkative, a talent for chattering.

Initially, the deputy-chief just wanted a fling, but after some conversation, he discovered that the aide’s ’character’ is quite respectable, the kind of woman who wouldn’t have issues being brought home for marriage after the war.

Seeing the aide’s cheerful smile, the deputy-chief’s smile turns a bit awkward, feeling shame for his previous indecent thoughts. How could he think of merely having a fling with such a good girl? What a heartless act.

The clever aide notices this, obviously unwilling for things to happen that way. How could she accomplish anything if he isn’t interested? Who will lead the way later? She still needs to kill him!

After a round of conversation, the deputy-chief becomes interested in the aide again. Noticing the deputy-chief’s increasingly intense gaze, the aide smiles, thinking this is good. Otherwise, she would feel guilty when killing him later.

The deputy-chief lights a crumpled cigarette and casually asks, ”What did you eat tonight?”

”Compressed food, tastes awful. Some nasty guy didn’t let me start a fire and even kicked me.”

Su Xiao, several meters away, glanced at the aide.

”When you’re still growing, how can compressed food be enough?”

Hearing this, the aide nearly burst into laughter. She was already twenty, still growing, how humorous.

”Follow me.”

The deputy-chief gets up and walks towards the side of the trench; the aide swallows hard. Clearly, this ’new acquaintance’ deputy-chief wants to give her a treat.

The aide follows the deputy-chief as he circles the trench a few times before entering an underground tunnel, leading towards the inside of St. Limen Fortress.

Passing through the underground tunnel, the deputy-chief takes the aide to the fortress underground, finally reaching a kitchen. Throughout, Su Xiao maintains a distance of around 50 meters.

After bribing with several packs of cigarettes, five orderlies leave the kitchen, leaving only the deputy-chief and the aide.

In the vast kitchen, the deputy-chief rolls up his sleeves, asking, ”What would you like to eat? A little meat shouldn’t be an issue.”

”Sir, you really are nice.”

The aide glances around the kitchen, confirming whether there are any others present.

”Looking after your subordinates is what every officer should do.”

”Is that so? Then you’re such a good person.”

The aide stands behind the deputy-chief, flipping a dagger in her hand.

”Not really a good person...”

The deputy-chief suddenly halts mid-sentence, looking down at his arms already covered in blood without knowing when it happened.

”Enemy...”

Thwack, thwack...

The aide grabs the deputy-chief’s hair, pulling his head sideways, then swiftly slices his exposed side neck several times, cleanly and decisively, ultimately stabbing him through the back.

With a thud, the deputy-chief crashes into the metal kitchen table in front of him, slipping to the ground, sitting down with his body leaning against the table.

The deputy-chief gurgles from his throat, holding his neck, looking up at the aide.

”Sorry, I’m not your type.”

The aide stabs a knife into the deputy-chief’s jaw. His body twitches, finally falling silent.

”You are a good man, so I gave you a swift end.”

The aide wipes the blood off her face and quickly walks to the dining room door. Upon opening it, Su Xiao is standing at the entrance.

Su Xiao steps into the kitchen, the pungent smell of blood making him frown.

”Can’t blame me; he wanted to sleep with me, so I had to stab him a few more times.”

The aide, dripping blood from her chin, tilts her head slightly in helplessness. If the deputy-chief were still alive, he would surely roar, ”You seduced me first!”

Su Xiao grabs several towels and starts cleaning the bloodstains at the scene.

After dealing with the bloodstains and the corpse, Su Xiao and the aide walk out of the kitchen. Based on the information the aide has, St. Limen Fortress has ten floors. The second underground level is responsible for storing supplies, including armaments, food, and flammable and explosive materials. The first underground level houses the soldiers’ dining hall, recreation room, and others.

The first to fourth floors are collective dormitories for ordinary soldiers, the fifth floor is where the officers reside, and the sixth to eighth floors store various heavy weapons.

Su Xiao’s destination is the fifth floor of St. Limen Fortress. Once there, he will activate his detection ability to pinpoint the location of the mission target, Du Bo · Yi Si.

Leaving the kitchen, Su Xiao and the aide enter the super-large dining hall on the first underground level, crowded with over a thousand soldiers from the Sun Kingdom.

The aide maintains her composure, even greeting a passing soldier. Here, enemies are everywhere. Once exposed, they would be instantly turned into swiss cheese.

Passing through the dining hall filled with the aroma of food, without any mishaps, Su Xiao and the aide arrive at the ground floor. Here, there are even more soldiers, but fortunately, there are no checkpoint sentries, so here is the time to perform.

Su Xiao performs naturally; his blood energy is the best passport. The aide can chat with anyone, without exposing any flaws.

On the first and second floors, upon reaching the second floor, an Apollo appears in Su Xiao’s hand, which he discreetly inserts into a gap below the staircase. The inactive Apollo is completely inconspicuous.

Soon after, Su Xiao and the aide reach the fourth floor, where above lies the living quarters for the Sun Kingdom military officers. Entrance here requires identification proof.

Su Xiao and the aide exchange glances, the aide asking with a questioning look.

”Stick to the wall.”

Su Xiao adheres closely to the outer wall of the fortress, staying as far as possible from the Apollo’s placement.
