Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 1329: Chapter 1328: I’ve Seen the Most Despicable Humans, and the Most Noble Orcs

A streak of rosy light swept across the sky and landed on the ground, followed by the disheveled Wine Sword Immortal and Dugu Sword Saint jumping out from inside, rolling a few times on the ground before they lay there motionless.

”Huff... huff... Senior Brother... it’s not me saying this... you... you should look at the situation before you act...”

Wine Sword Immortal was still wearing tattered robes, looking lazy as always, but his face was now red in some spots and white in others.

”That kind of Great Demon, how could you and I possibly resist? If it weren’t for Junior Brother’s help, and that the other party had no intention to kill, we brothers likely wouldn’t have made it out alive...”

”...hmph!”

Hearing Wine Sword Immortal’s complaint, Dugu Sword Saint snorted coldly and felt too awkward to say more. He knew the gap between his power and Fang Zheng’s was vast. After all, an ordinary aberration could not withstand two moves from Dugu Sword Saint, yet here he couldn’t withstand even two moves from Fang Zheng... This was enough to illustrate the gap in their power.

But what could he say?

”Senior Brother, let it go, we should return to the Shushan Sect. That Great Demon has no intention of causing harm to humanity, why should we meddle needlessly?”

”No way!”

Dugu Sword Saint pondered over it and finally clapped his hands firmly.

”We can’t allow such abominations to exist in the world; we must find a way to subdue it!”

With these words, Dugu Sword Saint snorted coldly, stood up.

”I will seek reinforcements, I refuse to believe that under this vast sky, demons can run rampant without anyone to contend with them!”

”Eh...”

Hearing Dugu Sword Saint’s response, Wine Sword Immortal sighed helplessly and Dugu Sword Saint evidently had no intention of letting Wine Sword Immortal off, turning instead to him.

”What about you, Junior Brother?”

”I’m afraid I can’t.”

Facing Dugu Sword Saint’s inquiry, Wine Sword Immortal smiled bitterly, lifting up the wine gourd in his hand, which was burnt and charred, with visible cracks. Seeing this, Dugu Sword Saint inhaled deeply, knowing this wine gourd was no ordinary item, strictly speaking, it could be considered an Innate Spirit Treasure, yet it couldn’t withstand a single fiery attack from the opponent...

”Those flames are indeed sinister; though I’m not injured, my strength has diminished greatly, and I can only go back for secluded cultivation, unlikely to have a chance to keep accompanying you, Senior Brother.”

Saying this, Wine Sword Immortal hesitated for a moment, but still looked at Dugu Sword Saint before him, speaking with grave earnestness.

”Senior Brother, let bygones be bygones, heed my advice, being so stubborn is not good...”

”Nonsense!”

However, facing Wine Sword Immortal’s words, Dugu Sword Saint flicked his sleeve.

”We who cultivate, subduing demons and exorcising devils is our duty, how can we allow such demon monsters to roam the world?!”

”......”

This time, Wine Sword Immortal said nothing more, just shook his head. In fact, he and Dugu Sword Saint had debated over this issue many times. In Wine Sword Immortal’s view, one should avoid overdoing things. Indeed, many demon monsters slaughter and disturb the world, and deserve to be killed. But some just go about their lives without interacting with the human world. These demons, in Wine Sword Immortal’s eyes, don’t pose that much of a threat.

But the Sect of the Immortal Sword does not discern, as long as it is a demon monster, they all get imprisoned in the Demon Lock Tower. Indeed, previously, the Sect of the Immortal Sword was powerful, and no matter what kind of demon monster we encountered, they could only retreat, while as the leader of the Sect of the Immortal Sword, Dugu Sword Saint could capture whomever he wished, disregarding others.

But this time... they finally kicked the iron plate.

”Senior Brother, heed a word of advice from this Junior Brother, this time the demon is not your usual type, you must act cautiously, lest the very foundation of the Sect of the Immortal Sword be destroyed...”

Recalling the fear brought by the flames of Fang Zheng, even Wine Sword Immortal broke out in a cold sweat. It was the first time he had encountered such flames, as though they would incinerate the entire world, spine-chilling. He’s sincerely worried, that if this continues, who knows, by the end of his secluded cultivation, the entire Sect of the Immortal Sword... no, the entire Shushan would be burned away by the opponent!

However, this time, Dugu Sword Saint did not respond to Wine Sword Immortal, but rather leapt and turned into a beam of sword light that swiftly left. Watching Dugu Sword Saint leave, Wine Sword Immortal helplessly shook his head, sighing while he turned and staggered away.

”Sigh... it’s all fate... better go have a drink...”

With Wine Sword Immortal and Dugu Sword Saint each going their own ways, Fang Zheng had also returned to the airship, notifying the villagers that the zombies outside Black River Town had been cleared. Naturally, the villagers were immensely grateful, but Fang Zheng wasn’t overly concerned, giving a few perfunctory responses, then taking everyone away from the perilous grounds.

”Brother Fang, are you alright?”

Not until they left did Lin Yueru curiously inquire, and Fang Zheng shook his head.

”Nothing happened to me, that old fellow on the other hand...I’ll see if he dares trouble me again!”

”Wasn’t that the Dugu Sword Saint from the Shushan Immortal Sword Sect... was there some misunderstanding between you, Brother Fang?”

”Misunderstanding? What misunderstanding could there possibly be between us.”

Fang Zheng sneered at Lin Yueru’s words.

”That old codger is no good, humph, demon exorcism? Says it so nicely!”

”But hasn’t the Sect of the Immortal Sword caught many evil demons and heretics?”

”Just because they caught many evil demons and heretics, doesn’t mean they’re right.”

Fang Zheng curled his lips.

”I think that those in the Sect of the Immortal Sword are a bunch of human supremacists... not even, they don’t deserve to be called human supremacists, just a bunch of Cerberus!”

Fang Zheng couldn’t help but recall Cerberus from the Mass Effect World, whose slogan was ”Humanity First,” and ”Aliens Must Die.” In the Mass Effect World, Cerberus was a bona fide terrorist group, yet in the World of the Immortal Sword, they became a Prestigious Sect... quite laughable.

Most Prestigious Sects were hilariously absurd anyway.

”???”

Hearing Fang Zheng, Lin Yueru and Zhao Ling’er were bewildered, exchanging looks, completely at a loss at Fang Zheng’s words. Fang Zheng just shook his head, continuing to address both.

”To put it this way, let me ask you, do you think it’s possible to kill off all the yokai?”

”This...”

Considering Fang Zheng’s question, Zhao Ling’er and Lin Yueru pondered for a moment, then shook their heads.

”Exactly, you can’t kill them all. For example, even if I were to slaughter all yokai in this world right now, wouldn’t more animals, insects, trees become essence over the decades or centuries and turn into yokai? That’s true, isn’t it?”

”That is true.”

”So that’s it.”

Fang Zheng clapped his hands.

”Since it’s impossible to kill all the yokai, the Sect of the Immortal Sword’s approach isn’t for the good of humanity but rather drives all demonkind to oppose humanity! Just think, those demons who kill people and consume souls, the Sect of the Immortal Sword will kill, and the demons who go about their lives and don’t interact with humans, the Sect will kill. Since no matter whether you kill or not, the Sect will kill you, what would you choose if you were a yokai?”

”This...”

Listening to Fang Zheng, Lin Yueru was momentarily speechless.

”But it is rumored that yokai are ferocious and terrifying...”

”Tch, I’ve seen the most vile humans, and the most noble of orcs.”

At this point, Fang Zheng snorted; compared to the humans in the Pitch Black World, yokai in the Immortal Hero World are not even cruel!

”The Sect of the Immortal Sword has no future going this way! Education knows no class, blindly killing cannot solve the issue. Of course, this is based on survival; if you’re keen on mutual destruction, then you naturally needn’t worry about this.”

If Fang Zheng were to burn the entire World of the Immortal Sword, the issues between humans and yokai would naturally vanish into ashes.

However, Fang Zheng clearly could not burn the entire World of the Immortal Sword... Hmm?

At this point, Fang Zheng suddenly felt a twinge of intuition.

For some unknown reason, he had a hunch, as if hidden within his earlier words were clues about a certain Soulstone...
