Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 1310: Chapter 1309: This Is the Moment to Sing Loudly

Hearing the sudden voice from behind them, the two girls were both startled. They quickly turned around, only to see Fang Zheng standing right behind them, coldly staring at them. Not only that, the white-robed girl was surprised to find that his eyes had turned into golden vertical pupils, and a terrifying aura, as if from a primordial beast, instantly exploded from him, making it almost impossible for the white-robed girl and the blue-robed girl to breathe!

”Please spare us, Celestial Immortal!”

At this moment, the white-robed girl quickly pulled the blue-robed girl beside her to kneel before Fang Zheng.

”We... we didn’t mean to offend you, Celestial Immortal!”

”Oh?”

Hearing her response, Fang Zheng raised an eyebrow while the white-robed girl hurriedly continued.

”I am Bai Suzhen from beneath Mount Qingcheng, having cultivated for a thousand years and under the guidance of The Bodhisattva Guanyin, I came to West Lake to repay a kindness. We didn’t intend to offend you just now, please pardon us!”

”Bai Suzhen?”

Hearing this, Fang Zheng was taken aback for a moment. He had just reacted automatically upon sensing someone trying to probe him, but now upon hearing her response, Fang Zheng took a closer look at them... Oh my, it’s really Bai Suzhen and Little Qing!

Wait, are Immortal Sword and Legend of the White Snake from the same era?

Forget it, who cares.

”Alright, it’s nothing, you can stand up now.”

Since he confirmed they were Bai Suzhen and Little Qing, Fang Zheng certainly wouldn’t bother them further. He waved his hand, signaling them to stand up — the ancient custom of kneeling at every turn was indeed unsettling.

Upon hearing Fang Zheng’s reply, the two cautiously stood up. But since Fang Zheng said nothing further, they didn’t dare leave, only standing timidly to the side.

”Hmm... but...”

However, looking at Bai Suzhen and Little Qing before him, Fang Zheng hesitated. He had watched ”Legend of the New White Lady” and, to be honest, he quite appreciated the couple Bai Suzhen and Xu Xian. Although, in his view, Xu Xian seemed a bit cowardly for a man, considering he was just a frail scholar, one couldn’t expect him to storm into Justice Lodge like Qiao Feng, fighting the entire world for his love.

Unless Xu Xian fell off a cliff and learned the Northern Abyss Divine Skill from a statue of a celestial sister—but that wouldn’t be much help either?

But honestly, Bai Suzhen and Xu Xian’s relationship was quite tragic... Should he warn them?

”Celestial Immortal?”

Seeing Fang Zheng scrutinizing them constantly, Bai Suzhen grew worried, still uncertain what kind of immortal he was. Although his displayed power was terrifying, there were many demons and gods in this world, and during her cultivation, Bai Suzhen had heard of demon kings capturing other fairies to be their wives or using them as cauldrons for cultivation...

Of course, it’s not surprising Bai Suzhen was overthinking, because when Fang Zheng’s aura exploded earlier, she felt it very familiar, somewhat like her own...

How should it be put, dragons, lizards, and snakes are all reptiles?

”Oh, it’s nothing.”

After pondering for a long while, Fang Zheng made a decision.

”It’s fine, you two came to find someone, right? Rest assured, great results are bound to come.”

”Thank you, Celestial Immortal!”

Hearing this, Bai Suzhen happily bowed to Fang Zheng. Although he didn’t tell her specifically what to do, since this all-powerful Celestial Immortal was so sure, her trip to West Lake would not be in vain!

”Nothing much, I was just saying. Oh, by the way.”

Looking at Bai Suzhen, Fang Zheng hesitated for a moment, deciding to give her some advice.

”You must remember a few things.”

”Please, teach us, Celestial Immortal.”

”Since you have taken human form, you must follow the rules of the mortal world. If you run out of money, you can earn it, but don’t have any crooked ideas. Any wealth gained without effort will lead to disaster. Also, there’s a tradition of drinking Xionghuang Wine during the Dragon Boat Festival in the human world; well, drinking isn’t good, especially for your health.”

While speaking, Fang Zheng took a gemstone from his bosom and handed it to Little Qing.

”If you ever encounter a nasty monk causing trouble for you that you can’t defeat, just crush this gemstone, and I’ll come to help.”

Just kidding, Fang Zheng had wished more than once while watching the show to personally slaughter that old bald monk Fahai. How could he pass up this chance now!

”Thank you, Celestial Immortal.”

Even though Fang Zheng spoke somewhat randomly, both Bai Suzhen and Little Qing memorized his words, respectfully bowing. Yet, just as they were about to leave, Fang Zheng hesitated and called them back.

”Oh, right, since our meeting is a fate, I’ll give you another line... What is love in this world that makes people vow life and death... All right, you can go.”

”Thank you, Celestial Immortal.”

After listening to Fang Zheng’s last words, the two obediently bowed and then turned to leave.

”Ha ha ha...”

Only when they disappeared did Fang Zheng sigh, shaking his head helplessly.

”I finally understand why those godly characters speak unclearly and only say half.”

Honestly, Fang Zheng used to look down on that trait of godly characters. Why not just speak clearly? What’s the deal with saying only half? But just now, when facing Bai Suzhen and Little Qing, he suddenly understood why those godly characters would speak only half.

Indeed, Bai Suzhen came to find Xu Xian to repay a kindness. Initially, it was also just for repaying a kindness, she married Xu Xian to repay a kindness and then planned to leave worldly desires behind to ascend. To be honest, whether Bai Suzhen initially harbored romantic feelings for Xu Xian was a big question mark.

At least to the current Bai Suzhen, finding Xu Xian to repay a kindness was a task she must complete, that’s how she perceived it.

And Fang Zheng certainly knows that eventually, Bai Suzhen deeply loves Xu Xian, becomes hopelessly engulfed, and even defies celestial law. But even if he says so now, Bai Suzhen likely wouldn’t believe it. Like when Little Qing warned Bai Suzhen to remember her mission upon noticing Bai Suzhen fell deeply for Xu Xian.

At the time, Bai Suzhen claimed she was steadfast and wouldn’t encounter any troubles, while Little Qing stated she wouldn’t get so entangled, her goal was immortal ascension, mortal concerns were insignificant to her!

In the end, both got their faces metaphorically slapped.

So, blind confidence is never advisable.

Thinking this situation was stable and charging, ultimately, the result is as expected... Everyone knows the ending.

Therefore, facing the current Bai Suzhen, even if Fang Zheng warned her to be careful, she would fall in love with Xu Xian and suffer... Bai Suzhen would likely insist that her heart is stable and unaffected by external factors, assured of successfully overcoming any adversity...

Thus, it’s better to let them hit a brick wall themselves, at least the worst outcome might be avoided with his hints and an extra measure in place.

Of course, if he could say, the best way would be for Bai Suzhen to repay Xu Xian randomly and be done with it, no need to marry him, right? But Fang Zheng eventually didn’t choose this; after all, they are a couple he has watched since childhood. Besides, though Fang Zheng very much admired Bai Suzhen, he had no romantic interest in her.

He admits Bai Suzhen is an exceptionally competent virtuous wife and good mother, and her relationship with Xu Xian is ideal with mutual respect. But for Fang Zheng, from the modern world, that just wasn’t tolerable in a relationship, not to mention delving into a duet when emotions deepen...

Imagine dueting with Asuna on a date, how awkward that would be...

But speaking of which, it’s time to break into song!

Thinking thus, Fang Zheng was humming a tune while walking with his hands behind his back.

”Ha ha ha... ha ha ha... West Lake’s beautiful scenery, in March, the spring rain is like wine, the willow like smoke... The destined shall meet across a thousand miles, while those without fate can’t hold hands across a room...”
