Chapter 989: Chapter 610: Bearing of a Champion

”Rhyperior—let the Sandstorm blow even stronger!”

Li Si shouted urgently. He originally wanted Rhyperior to support Sigilyph, but then he thought, wouldn’t having the weather make it harder to fight?

He could only hope that a more intense Sandstorm might provide some cover.

However, just as he spoke, Porygon II’s third Sunlight Beam pierced through the sandstorm and struck Sigilyph once again.

Boom!

The deafening blast and the swirling dust rendered the ground in front of Li Si a mess, as if it had been bombarded by artillery.

He felt deep regret.

Why did he assume the Sunlight Beam would attack Rhyperior, subconsciously thinking that the Flying Attribute Sigilyph would resist the Grass Attribute, so naturally Baimu couldn’t make such a basic mistake?

Obviously, it was a more suitable target than Rhyperior!

”...”

Sigilyph flapped its symbolically significant rather than practically useful wings, trying to evade by using Strong Mental Will to move close to the ground, but Porygon II’s Sunlight Beam was simply too fast.

”Boom!!”

Rhyperior roared in fury, summoning more gravel from beneath it, eroding towards Porygon II and Blissey with the roaring wind!

But in the very next moment, the sandstorm was pierced by a brilliant golden beam!

Boom!

The high-energy lightwave, stirring the air into a tremor, charged forward undeterred.

This time, even the Light Wall that appeared in front of Sigilyph couldn’t withstand it, shattering into countless light particles the moment it was touched by the Sunlight Beam.

Bang!

The giant rumble of the ground echoed around.

Rhyperior, in disbelief, turned its head to see Sigilyph lying motionless in the smoke-filled crater behind it.

The commentator cheered loudly: ”It’s down! Porygon II’s four consecutive Sunlight Beams successfully defeated Sigilyph! An unrelenting and powerful offensive!”

”Sigilyph is unable to battle!”

The referee’s judgment always arrived so timely.

Li Si bit his lower lip, unwilling to give up, shouted, ”Rhyperior! Digging!”

Since the ground battle didn’t work, shift the fight underground!

Wasn’t Drapion in the previous matches defeated only after resurfacing? We can fight back!

”Boom!”

Rhyperior ceased sustaining the sandstorm, its hammer-like arms struck the ground, kicking up a mass of earth and sand as its massive body burrowed underground at a speed visible to the naked eye.

Boom!

The Sunlight Beam hit again, scraping the topmost horn of Rhyperior, as if melting it from a superheated scorch!

”What a fierce Sunlight Beam! Its power remains unchanged even after several consecutive shots!”

The commentator praised loudly.

But the reality was not as rosy as he described.

The continuous, powerful high-energy beams were a burden on both Porygon II’s body and its Attribute Energy.

Signs of weakness first appeared during the fourth shot that took down Sigilyph, and by the fifth shot, the energy had already been exhausted, it trembled excessively and failed to fire immediately.

In the end, it only barely grazed one of Rhyperior’s horns.

Fortunately, Li Si didn’t notice this, choosing to let Rhyperior dive underground and wait for the opportunity.

This is due to a lack of experience.

Seeming to bravely fight back seeking to turn the tide, but actually only having a reckless momentum; if he had carefully observed the opponent’s Pokémon’s condition, he might really have had a chance to find some openings.

Baimu remained silent, Sigilyph’s durability exceeded his expectations. Even with the Light Wall helping to reduce the Special Attack energy, it could withstand three consecutive shots without falling, enough to surprise him.

Clearly, this Pokémon wasn’t only of a high level, but its Special Defense must have been specially trained as well.

Rest as much as possible.

Even if the time is fairly short.

”Relax, listen carefully to the ground’s vibrations to locate its position!” he gave the instruction.

”Pory...”

Porygon II breathed a sigh of relief, its eyes burning and sore from continuously firing Sunlight Beams, the view slightly blurred before them.

It was reminiscent of a gun barrel after firing a thousand bullets consecutively.

Meanwhile, Blissey looked up at the sandstorm completely dispelled by the sunny weather, and also sighed with relief.

It had not often used the Weather Skill since learning it, and was quite worried that it wouldn’t withstand Rhyperior, but it was fortunate that it held on and delayed until its teammate took down the opponent.

Much to celebrate.

The two Pokémon seized the time to rest.

Of course, they didn’t forget to watch the ground, using multiple senses to confirm from which direction Rhyperior would emerge.

Blissey silently counted down in its heart, knowing that the gravity would persist for a while, and once it ended, it could use Telekinesis. At that point, facing the Rhyperior that also lost its mobility, success was assured.

Don’t come out so hastily...

It stared at the slightly trembling ground.

Porygon II held a similar thought; the soreness in its eyes disappeared, but it was still a bit blurry and hot.

Meanwhile.

Rhyperior couldn’t stay underground anymore, finding the right opportunity to burst out from below!

Bang!

Rocks scattered everywhere!

The gigantic figure appeared five or six meters away from behind Porygon II and Blissey, surprisingly not launching an attack on them directly from underground.

”Rock Cannon!”

Li Si shouted loudly.

”Boom!”

Rhyperior roared ferociously, its arms brought together before it as gravel sprayed from the holes in its palms, rapidly forming a giant, red-light-wrapped, spinning rock.

Baimu furrowed his brows, catching a glimpse of Li Si’s determined expression from the corner of his eye, he immediately shouted, ”Double Guard!”

Just as these words fell.

Boom!

The red-light-wrapped rock was struck by Rhyperior’s heavy arms, spinning as it hurtled towards Porygon II and Blissey, causing roaring winds wherever it passed due to its enormous size!

The massive recoil sent Rhyperior sliding back into the crater behind it, leaving its muscles stiff and unable to move temporarily.
