Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

It turns out Old Huang always has a reason for his decisions.

Now, he himself is with a few brothers, and has become Extra Staff.

The news quickly spread to the five Satellite Cities.

Due to the previous protest events, there were no new Cooperative Personnel in the Satellite Cities, and the notice was only directed at people within the Satellite Cities, so the new Cooperative Personnel were temporarily unaware of this matter.

However, the group leaders in the Satellite Cities from the First to the Fifth, Zhu Xiao, Guo Peng, Huang Zheng, Xiao Hu, and others, all had some doubts.

The biggest question was, what should be done about those new Cooperative Personnel?

After the people in the Satellite Cities leave, what should happen to the Satellite Cities?

Second Uncle addressed these questions.

”As for the new Cooperative Personnel, apart from the groups mentioned earlier, no one else is allowed to enter the Big Camphor Tree Base.”

Xiao Hu asked, ”What if they follow us here?”

Second Uncle’s tone was somewhat harsh: ”Are the guns given to you for nothing?”

The group leaders of the five Satellite Cities were a bit shocked by Second Uncle’s attitude but not surprised.

At the same time, they realized a truth: Headquarters has some opinions on these new Cooperative Personnel. It was said that the protesting personnel caused a disturbance in the Fourth Outer City not long ago, and all of them were killed thereafter.

The entire Xin City, including the five Satellite Cities, began to get busy. If not for the late hour, they might have sent out some teams to have the groups on missions outside return quickly.

....

Big Camphor Tree Base.

Whoosh——

That night, a sudden strong wind blew.

The trees in the base swayed, and the Bamboo Forest rustled.

Li Yu, holding a cup of warm water, walked onto the balcony, gazing at the night-shrouded Big Camphor Tree Base, lost in thought.

He recalled how during dinner, Second Uncle approached him to say he had spread the news, allowing a new list of Cooperative Personnel to enter the city. Li Yu reviewed it and saw no issues.

Second Uncle spoke to him:

”The group leaders of the Satellite Cities, like Zhu Xiao, asked me what we should do with the Satellite Cities after the personnel evacuation. Should they just be left empty? I thought, since they’re empty anyway, might as well let those new Cooperative Personnel stay in them. At least it’s safer than outside.”

”I know you’re displeased, but unless we abandon them entirely in the future.

Such a drastic difference in treatment could lead to problems later.

Everyone who needed to be killed was killed, but the others should be given a chance. We can’t kill everyone, so some measures should be taken to win them over.

I think, since the Satellite Cities would be empty anyway, after Guo Peng and the others leave, if those personnel wish to enter, they could find a way to sneak inside.

It’s better to go with the flow and let them in temporarily after Zhu Xiao and Guo Peng evacuate.

On one hand, let them watch over the Satellite Cities, and on the other hand, it would provide them shelter, making them grateful to us.

Meanwhile.

Give them a reminder that these new Cooperative Personnel should minimize going outside.

...”

Li Yu was silent for a long time.

In the end, he nodded.

However, he didn’t know if this decision was right or wrong.

But Second Uncle mentioned something that touched him.

At least on the surface, it should look good; otherwise, it might incite unrest.

.....

This was not in line with Li Yu’s character, but he felt Second Uncle’s consideration was reasonable.

Hiss——

It wasn’t until the cigarette held between his thumb and index finger burned to the end that he came to his senses.

”The wind is picking up.” Li Yu murmured.

Then he closed the balcony window and lay down on the bed.

....

The next day.

The Fourth Outer City was still under construction, but the wind was strong, making the already dusty construction site even worse, slightly affecting the workers’ operations.

”Have you heard? Last night the Internal Affairs Director issued an emergency notice, calling the people from surrounding Satellite Cities back to the base.” Shen Xiaoxiao moved beside Zhong Chuchu to speak.

Zhong Chuchu poured sand into the mixer with a cart, then pressed the button to start it up.

”It’s not our place to worry about such things; we’re just outside the wall. It takes a few minutes to enter the Outer City. There’s no rush; let’s just work well first.”

”Oh....”

Inner City.

Li Yu instructed Ding Jiu to pause the construction of the bunker and to move some of the mechanical equipment indoors, to prevent it from getting soaked during the upcoming natural disaster.

He also called together Ding Jiu, Xiao Ding, Xiao Liu, Zhou Weiguo, who was responsible for livestock, An Ya, who handled agriculture, drainage engineer Xu Zhen, and others for a brief meeting in the conference room.

”Xu Zhen, your main task these two days is to recheck the drainage system in the base to ensure no issues occur.”

”Zhou Weiguo, Xiao Ding, inspect the factory buildings at the livestock farm, reinforce where necessary and get preparations in order.”

Zhou Weiguo stood up quickly and said, ”City Lord, the hay prepared for the cattle and sheep will last them two and a half months. Shouldn’t this be enough?”

Li Yu frowned slightly and said:

”It’s not enough. I had instructed you last time, how come it only supports two and a half months?”

Zhou Weiguo replied awkwardly, ”It’s constantly being consumed, and recently the rice and corn in the base have not matured. They might take another half month to... ”

Li Yu waved a hand at Zhou Weiguo and said: ”Two and a half months is not enough, you need to prepare at least four months’ worth of hay. For the portion you’re short, find a way. Cut down the grass from the base’s lawns and the forage at the foot of the hills; if that’s still not enough, I’ll send people to support you cutting grass outside.

You must prepare four months’ worth of hay.”

Initially, Zhou Weiguo was disheartened upon hearing about the need for four months’ worth of hay; he thought it was impossible.

The livestock farm, including him, was staffed by only two or three people.

To prepare so much within two days was impossible.

However, since Director Li said he could get manpower support, it’s not really a problem now.

”Next, at Mountain Pond Reservoir, Xiao Hang, today you’ll take people and move the fish from the fish pond to the reservoir at the hill’s foot.”

”Big Brother, it’s difficult to move them with such high water levels at the reservoir,” said Li Hang.

”Just open the sluice to discharge water.”

”Huh? What about the base’s water usage then?” Li Hang asked, concerned.

”Just follow instructions.”

”Alright.”

Li Yu then asked An Ya: ”How are things now at both the greenhouse and indoor planting base?”

An Ya picked up a notebook and answered: ”We’re implementing phased planting; some rice will mature in half a month, and then staggered intervals of one month, two months, and three months for other batches.

In addition...”

To ensure a continuous food supply at Big Camphor Tree Base, phased planting was employed, especially since the greenhouse could control temperature and lighting.

”Alright, recheck the reinforced windbreak wall today.”

”Okay.”

Then Li Yu got some detailed insights into the base’s situation and provided directives to move outdoor items indoors, and reinforce what required reinforcement.

The meeting ended quickly, and half an hour later, An Ya and the others left the Inner City’s conference room and immediately sprang into action.

Throughout the base, both outside and inside, it was bustling with activity like ants moving house.

There was a sense of an impending storm.

In the afternoon.

The First Satellite City sent word that Xiao Jun and his group had returned.

A mighty motorcade could be seen from afar.

Huang Zheng from the First Satellite City had no time to chat with Xiao Jun on the roadway; he was feeling anxious.

A team of Extra Staff went out on a mission yesterday, and communication was lost.

He had just sent a small team to notify, the timeline was tight.

Within three days, they needed to return to Big Camphor Tree Base, and the personnel was not complete.

If contact wasn’t established today, he would report to the base, considering requesting helicopter assistance for searching.

.....

Upon receiving the news, Second Uncle left the duty room, only to see a helicopter descending from the sky.

Currently, all helicopters from the base had been sent out to notify outside Extra and Cooperative Personnel.

But recognizing this helicopter wasn’t today’s dispatch and considering Huang Zheng’s report, he knew it was He Bing and his group returning from Oil City.

”He Bing and the others have finally returned.” Second Uncle exhaled a long breath of relief.

After setting up various things in the Inner City, Li Yu received Second Uncle’s message, leading to reflection about matters on the Outer City side.
